@someothername78864 жыл бұрын
@@duskcrumbz7375 The reason why the ages are off, or why young adults tend to be casted to play high schoolers/middle schoolers is usually because child actors have unions behind them to prevent the actors from being overworked. Child actors are legally only allowed to work a certain amount of hours a day and, along with that, a significant amount of time on set has to be put towards their education. Because of these restrictions, producers would rather cast young adults that could pass as high school and (sometimes) middle school kids. But yeah, as op said the ages just look way off even if the actors themselves look young. I think Hilary Duff was around 16/17 when this movie actually came out.

As a newly 18yr, senior in high school, the thought of dating a 14yr is just...so nasty. They are on a totally different level of maturity and understanding. I don’t care how “mature for my age” you think you are, you’re not. This is why so many past victims of grooming only realize when they’re older and have that older perception, that they were taken advantage of. I actually see this as a cautionary tale. They could have made Paolo a romantic good guy in the end, making it look like it's a good idea to go off on an adventure with a guy you've just met. Instead, they showed that it's not a good idea and that people aren't always what they seem.
@remulaevergaze53424 жыл бұрын
And the best way to do that is to make it look romantic for the majority of the movie? It's not like Lizzie came out in the end saying how she learned a lesson about dating older guys, it's still portrayed as acceptable for a 13 year old girl to date a 17 year old, as long as he's not a douche, so much for being a cautionary tale.
@pissapocalypse4 жыл бұрын

@bigboomer10134 жыл бұрын
I feel that the reason why we didn't get bothered was because they don't look like they are 13. And when they said junior high (notice the word "high"), I would of thought that's another word for high school. I didn't know that junior high stands for middle school. If lizzie was much younger looking like an actual 13 year old and stood next to Paolo, then you will probably see something is wrong. Like aqua marine. The girls are little kids and their crush is probably a college student and they got kissed by him, I was annoyed as a kid. I just wish they didn't make it be that lizzie is 13 or even heard that she is one. Because now I see the movie in a completely different light and my childhood is ruind. The only way to escape it is to just imagine her or pretend that she's graduating high school.

i had a lot of experience flying as an UM when i was younger, and i was only ever allowed on straightaway flights --single flight to a destination with no layovers--and parents/guardians get special permission to escort the UM thru security and to and from the actual airline gate without having a ticket of their own. so extremely unlikely to see an UM on an international flight, especially if unescorted to the airport by an adult.
@ncisfan10024 жыл бұрын
Person that's flown unaccompanied internationally before, and I'll state that yeah, you need permission from both parents to go unaccompanied. The parents need to sign a waiver I believe and the flight attendants check up on you from time to time during the flight. I had a connecting flight so I had to wait for another attendant to lead me to the next gate. Waited for the next flight, same process, and then when you get to your destination they stop being in charge of you. After you cross the "why are you in the country" part of it you're on your own to get picked up by a guardian
@FionaLiu4 жыл бұрын
@@ncisfan1002 Yeah, I've done the same thing, and you're right. Sometimes if children break rules during school trips, the teacher is allowed to send them home. The child and guardian have to sign permission slips and stuff and on them they say that if the child disturbs the trip, then they can be sent home and the parent has to pay for it.

The disturbing part of this movie that the little brother was producing child pornography then, based on your observation. About the trip: Idk, going out of your continent sounds a bit excessive, but we had foreign schooltrips within EU when I was 14. Like 50 kids with 2 teachers. The unusual part was that the foreign trips were across the classes, I mean all classes from ages 13-18. Then 18-year-olds lawyered out that they don't have to obey the teachers, technically, so imagine... I also went to a Paris first time with just girlfriends around 16 maybe, then Taken came out and my parents freaked out, retrospectively
