Never related more to a photographer on KZbin - “What do you do with your photos? Website? Sell them?” “No. 😆. Just share them”. One photography quote that’s always stuck with me is, “It’s not the depth of field that matters, but the depth of the feeling.” All I want to do is produce photos that make people feel something and take an extra second or two to look at when they’re scrolling through Instagram. I don’t really mind what the feeling is either, as long as it changed there emotions when they saw it. The endless pursuit is to stir deeper and deeper feelings in others. That’s what drives me to get better and better and hone this craft. Thanks for sharing Josh 🙏

I just love watching your visual stories...thank you. As a Canon/Sony user I did buy a Z6ii (w/24-70 f4 S), it's a great camera; images and video coming out of it is/are awesome. My Z6ii is my carry and go anywhere with my family body for me. I once dropped my Sony on a Hawaii trip along the road to Hana at one of the waterfalls...the Sony lens crushed like a beer can from a 18 inch drop.... my z6ii fell from 3 feet on to the street rolled 4 times ... i picked it up and not even a scratch (i had to dust off the concrete residue, the ground broke not the body)...... Bayou? when i first saw that.. i am reminded of my good friend and the family Beidelman's hospitality from Louisiana. Good feels. Roger used to plant green onions next to his wife's rose garden....he loved green onions.

Love seeing you and your wife out together. My hubby asks why I watch folks with other brands different from mine (pentax for almost 50yrs), brand doesn't matter. The adventure, the sharing of what you see and the beautiful photos, and your thoughts along the way, because it's peaceful, and I do learn tidbits along the way, that's why I watch. Looking forward to the next adventure~

I love your channel because its so different from all of the others that talk more about gear and less about the adventure of seeing, and sometimes NOT seeing, what you're looking for. Earlier this week my wife and I were watching the Cinnamon Teal duck at Merritt Island NWR in Florida (he's literally the only one there) when we started talking to another photographer about the ducks and other birds we had seen that day. Turns out that other photographer was Steve Perry from Back Country Gallery! Hopefully one day we'll run into you out on an adventure too.

I grew up watching Marty Stouffer's Wild America. Your videos give me that same vibe. Keep up the good work! I've been paying more attention to nature and just discovered Ibis, river otter, and osprey hanging out at the pond behind where I work. I bring my GH5 and 100-400mm to work with me now, and sneak out back when the afternoon sun is just right. I've never even seen a river otter in the wild until last week. I understand the drive to go back out day after day. It's fun to take the kids and try to teach them about all the animals and plants, even though they tend to scare everything off.

Glad to see you're out there with the Nikkor 500mm PF. It was the lens that I purchased 12 months ago when I got the urge to shoot wildlife and I totally agree on how it allows you to move around and reposition - very important when shooting small birds perched inside trees and bushes. Regarding your recent outing in the snow with no luck finding birds: Have you thought of buying your wife a nice white parka to wear when joining you on winter bird outings instead of the hot pink? Your jacket also had a screaming bright panel of a color not found in nature!

I am very envious. Where we are in the south of the UK it is very rare to get real snow. We occasionally get a very light scattering that lasts 5 minutes so, on the very rare times we do see proper snow our country grinds to a halt!! Do love it when it does come and we are due for some as the last we had was in the winter of 2009/10!! Great video, once again.

9K subscribers in 9 months. You are doing fantastic! I went to photograph Cypress trees in Louisiana swamps for the first time this past November and loved it. Louisiana is a very nice place (minus New Orleans.) You guys in Idaho are lucky to have some snow accumulation. We, in the Northeast, have cherry trees in blossom and new leaves start to come out in DECEMBER! Very, very wired. As to "what do you do with your photos" question, I have a suggestion. I have quite a collection of landscapes and bird photos myself. My hope is that one day I'll have an exhibition. Maybe we could team up. Just a thought. 🙂 I don't have youtube channel or website. Part of it is I cannot / don't want to carry that much equipment. Or pay another subscription fee to someone else for holding my work. The squirl in this video is very cute. I am inspired to go out to photograph some deer myself. Lately I have been feeling burned out. Or maybe i m just waiting for some snow. Forecast says we may get some soon. Who knows.

I may have already mentioned on one of your other videos but I also have the Z6II. I'm loving it so far. I had a D750 prior to this. I can't afford a Z7II at the moment and I would have to upgrade my computer quite a bit which would cost more money. The thing that people don't realize about the Z cameras is that it's more than just the camera bodies. It's how the system as a whole works so well together. They make the f mount lenses work better but the Z lenses are superior to the f lenses. There's little to no focus breathing which is critical for video and is very beneficial to landscape photography. I can't afford any of the trinity lenses yet but the new 28-75mm f/2.8 has sparked my interest. I'm waiting for the 200-600mm lens to come out. I think that lens will be awesome. I'm originally from Arkansas but have lived in Alabama most of my life. I was stationed in Shreveport in the Air Force. It was close to home for me.

@@BayouJosh I think it will be a good budget lens for portraits and events such as weddings. Hello from Montreal, awesome video my friend 👍I will be going to the bird paradise in January (Colombia) to cure my cabin fever 🐦👍

I would love to go there. I am on an email list that invited me to a tour of Colombia this winter. I need to make that happen in the future.

I see you are using the new 500mm PF lens, I hope you are liking it. I have one and I have had mixed results with it, mostly good but sometimes I have missed some shots with it. I think that you get get different results depending on the camera body used. I enjoy your videos. Keep shooting!

I love that little lens. for the record. I miss shots with every lens I own. 😉

Don't sell your self on your KZbin videos. I have heard well established KZbinrs like Steve Matthies speak highly of your videos. I myself have. Experience and training videography and editing. Your videos are very professional and well executed. I love the story line is always inspiring to me your voice relaxing. Your photography is as good as any one out there.

Great video! I love your recordings so much. I photographed and filmed deer last month too. It was an amazing experience! I made a KZbin-video about this, but it's not so good than yours...😂👍🏼Keep up the good work!

Great video! I'm curious about the winter gear you wear. I'm always cold! What gloves do you have and what other cold weather gear do you recommend? Thanks and keep shooting!

I typically wear ski clothes when I am in these environments. Layered of course.

Thank you so much Anne. Katie is definitely a doll! I use adobe premier pro. I basically get it as close as I can in camera and just move the sliders around in post process until it pops on the screen. I am currently working on a video about gathering footage in the field.

When you are wearing your gloves and shooting with your z6ll, do you have a hard time keeping the focus point where you want it? When i have thin layer gloves on, I'm moving that focus point all over the place.
@BayouJosh2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I struggle with it in a major way. so much so that I recently ordered some new gloves based on a recommendation from a fly-fishing friend of mine. I'll let you know how they work. Link amzn.to/3qeMHOk

so, just to be correct and remove confusion for any non-native English speakers… the correct way to say “no i won’t do that”, is the opposite of Josh’s reply - the correct way to say “no” to “do you mind”, is “yes ( I do mind)”…

The only question about gear I have for you Josh is do you use Continuous High or Continuous High Extended on your Z6ii? I bought a Z7ii and I do use the Extended because I want the fastest burst but I don't like the slide show effect because you're seeing the image before instead of a live image and in High its basically slower than my D750.
@BayouJosh3 жыл бұрын
Just continuous. rarely to I need fast burst. It's just not my shooting style. 🙂
