Great post. I also choose not to buy because of all the past few years of watching, learning and plenty of homework. Mostly it's about being REAL and Honest with yourself and even more important is my love for these magnificent exotics and never be that next one that decided to late. I actually got pretty depressed about my decision for abit and still hurts but my saving grace was to volunteer and also maybe Fostering one as a jumping off point to the best home for this bird. Between Jamie and Dave and parote playhouse April I learned the most and Sincerely honest advice anyone could ask for. So like you I'm very grateful to this wounder Team " Bird Whisperers " Jamie and Dave from birdtricks. Ya!!!. 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍💙🧡❤💝💝.

I dont often responds to other posters unless I feel a kinda connection and its great to hear about the SAD Mistakes that cost both a great deal of upset and hurt, and of coarse the birds take the greatest hit like all animals as they dont have a voice. I started my journey checking out several utubers with birds but quickly found the few that like you o follow simply because they are awesome dedicated people with a ton of great info for those who really want to do the right thing. So hats off to us 🥰 and we can continue being happy watching those gorgeous birds. All thr best to you and yours through the holiday season. 🎄.

Dave & jaime i have a blue & gold black throated macaw name.d wonka . My two friends eddie & angel are actually the owners but they got a dog named fitty & eddie & angel started paying a little bit to much attention to fitty than wonka and the bird got pissed and started ( I guess ) looking for someone to be its lover ,its a lady bird . I've been around wonka for 2 years . The bird is about 20 years old . I learned alot from you're show $ others about doing alot of research before even thinking about getting a bird ( 100 hrs ) all three of us decided to let the bird go live with me . For the longest time wonka intimidates the holy hell out me . Bit the shit out of me damn they bite harder than f- - - !!! . Anyway me and wonka are getting along alot better now, she only bites me 2 times a day .so I wanted to let you know that to own a dog you've got to be a cool SOB .but to own a bird you have got to be a super cool SOB !!! Damn straight !!!** and that's a fact Jack .

Have you ever considered pigeons? Wonderful pets, they’re domestic and don’t have a lot of the cons most parrots have (noise, bites don’t hurt/rarely even bite, less pricey in general besides vet visits)

I found you a few days ago as you were taking care of Morgan. Morgan's story was the best thing ever. I'm not a bird guy. If I was 20-30 years younger, I would have the patience and time to train a macaw. Since I'm 50, I'm more of an aquarium/fish person. There have been days like that for all of us, where we feel like pulling our hair out and screaming. But you're right, we do get so much back. My little feather buddy is just like that. Big birds intimidate me, that's why I have a cockatiel. I asked for the most easygoing bird and I was paired with her. I thought she was funny looking with her orange circles on her face and yellow crest. Now. she is my best friend. Say aww here.

I'm a little late to the game but I have a female blue throat (Lola), she turns 10 this year and she is definitely not that hyper/active haha. Nor is she much of a screamer (fingers crossed that doesn't change) or very destructive, but she is pretty touchy. Anyway, I love your videos and thank you for putting out such amazing and educational content!

I open doors and turn on light switches with my eclectus on my hand as well. He does spend time up against walls just like Jinx. I also pick up around the house, pour a ginger ale over ice and remove things like herbs and spices from my pantry for dinner prep while holding him. He always keeps his balance. My husband on the other hand babies him and gasps if our bird has to correct his balance. We handle our birds very differently.

We love seeing your videos with Jinx! We have a 2.5 year old female blue throated macaw named Zazu and a 1 year old male red fronted macaw named Raja. Zazu definitely reminds me of Jinx, she is super touchy, mouthy, and goofy. She always wants to be close/on me, even if she is just preening in my lap. Meanwhile Raja is happy as can be playing on his stand all by himself 🙂 She can be a handful and frustrating, but so rewarding at the same time ❤️

Beautiful Bird. I am sorry you lost the one Macaw. You love your birds & that warms my heart. My Lovebird started to be territorial with his cage 2 months ago. I have to get him out of the cage when I clean it. Or I clean it when he goes to bed. I keep my Lovebird in a mini pet carrier. I thought for a cat. It's too small for a cat. He has a stuffed animal to sit on. A gel pak in fleece , food & water at night. His Harrison's & seeds in his night place. He is used to it. I started from day one. I had 2 2hen I got Delli. He & Bela carried on like I was hurting them his first night. They got better right away. The breeder had a few of other birds. He did not free fly until I got him used to being out of his cage. I would be terrified of a large bird. He is adorable. I know you are a huge bird person. You have worked with so many. I love seeing bird people. My friend had Parakeets, used to have Lovebirds too. Thank You for your videos. I do not watch many of yours. If it comes up. Others have some too. My first Lovebird Chickery favorite color was blue. I had plastic shot glasses I cam across & she picked up blue & marched around with it. Papagai, a male Lovebird that got dick with the Rosie Bourke that got sick, I did not know early enough. Padgi for short, chewed up the plastic shot glasses. I gave up on that. Padgi went under the swim suit material I used for the bottom of the cage & wash it once a day. The bigger cage now, I have plastic place mats. At night I still use the swim suit material. It is easy to wash & hang. I have to watch doors. He will have to be in when I have surgery. Last time he was a bit rusty in flying out of the cage. He was ok after a few moments. He gets a lot of fly time out of his cage. If I go out, he goes in his cage. Or if I do not want him hanging on me when I cook. You love your bird. That is how I feel the same about my bird. I have only 1 bird. My bird makes me laugh. If I am in a blueood. Delli brings me out of a bad mood. You have so much to do & a husband & daughter. You only have so much time with a bunch of birds. I trained my first bird to poop on my arm. I just go wash it off. A big bird would be a lot to deal with. My first bird held in his poop all night & had a big poop in the AM.. my current bird poops all night, not usually on his bed. Fun video. Have a lovely day!!! My McCaw "Dollybird" is about 30 years old, She is a friggin' Clown! they are definitely smart and are great company too, and Yes they can bite the crap out of you. Dolly blushes when she's excited, it's pretty cool.
