The official pulling the base away from the shield on the near side starting line is always slow. He tripped up a couple of the guys and delayed others.

Well it's measured by distance so a slow start wont affect anything but tripping the athletes up will

It struck me from the very beginning, on the far side, they are already cleared and on the closer side still waiting for the guy to pull it away, incredibly unprofessional.
@thinkcivil16274 жыл бұрын
@@seanflawless6807 Exactly, especially when that shield weighs hundreds of pounds. Every second counts and disrupting their steps from the very start is a big handicap. Some of those guys take very few breaths once they have it on their chest. You'll notice that they replaced him for the last race or two.

Overall this event just looks like a massive health and safety risk. The guys pulling the stands away have to trust that the lifter isn't immediately going to have the shield slip and crush their fingers or fall forward and crush them completely. They should have just had spotters holding the shield upright.
