The Wilson sisters with one of their best shots. Excellent choice. If you want to get goosebumps for three days in a row, I recommend looking up the video of his live version of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" at the Kennedy Center Honors a few years ago. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Heart is one of the most iconic bands of all-time. Ann & Nancy are such legends. And although they both could sing, Ann's voice was a juggernaut. Powerful, piercing and unrelenting. Not to mention beautiful. They have so many great songs, from their earlier "harder" stuff, to the later more melodic songs. Many songs you could check out. I would recommend Heart's Stairway To Heaven Led Zeppelin tribute as well. So well done!

Heart is one of the biggest Rock bands in the world, one of the first Female-fronted bands from the 1970's. Trend-setters with vocals for days. This particular song was from the 1980's has been covered by many many people (it is one of Floor Jansen's favorite songs and she covers it really well multiple times). Heart, featuring the Wilson sisters, Ann (brunette lead singer) and Nancy (blonde rhythm guitar, backing vocals) is an ICONIC band. Imho the best version of the band was definitely the original. The musicianship and songwriting was the best then. What you just watched/heard is a later version of the band, still VERY good! Ann is one of the best singers you will EVER hear, her power and range seem limitless!! Nancy also has a beautiful voice, just not the power or range of her sister. Their harmonies are beautiful. Nancy is also an excellent guitarist. Heart has MANY great songs, but imho, the holy trinity of Heart songs are: 'Magic Man', 'Crazy on You', and Barracuda'. All 3 are MUST listens! lol When you listen to 'Crazy on You', make sure it's a version with an acoustic guitar intro played by Nancy. SOOOOO good!

Ok,seriously you NEED to watch the live performance of Heart covering Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy honors center honoring Led Zeppelin at their ceremony... Its phenomenal!! Truly magic!! Led Zeppelin said Heart did the ONLY cover of their song they've ever liked.the drummer in the performance is the son of the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham.he did his dad proud... Ann is one of the few vocalists on the same level as Floor. And Nancy is one of the most under-appreciated guitarists I’ve ever heard. I’d recommend you check out ‘Magic Man’, live or studio doesn’t matter. Also ‘Stairway to Heaven’ from the Kennedy Center Honors and ‘The Battle of Evermore’ from the Alive in Seattle show. ‘Love Alive’ is Ann’s favorite song of theirs and you can hear Nancy’s lead vocals in ‘These Dreams’. You’ve stumbled onto my favorite band(Well, Heart and Nightwish are tied for that spot). I hope you enjoy their music as much as I do.

Totally agree. Ann and Floor share the same mature, rich and effortless sound that is missing from so many female singers. For me many are to shrill and nasal, or fall for the vocal gymnastics trap. I really wish this stronger sound was more popular, but the high on helium sound seems fashionable.

'Alone' by Heart became a #1 single back in 1987 and was used in commercials, movies, TV since. Ironically, it's a cover... Heart is an iconic rock band, one of the first in rock history to be fronted by a female singer Ann Wilson, and featuring her younger sister Nancy Wilson (acoustic & rhythm guitars), who have carried Heart since the 70's. The band that became Heart was originally formed in the 60's by guitarist Roger Fisher in Seattle... Ann Wilson joined as the lead singer in the early 70's and officially became Heart. Ann Wilson fell in love w/ Roger Fisher's brother Michael Fisher and moved to Canada to be w/ him... Heart also moved to Canada and Ann's sister Nancy Wilson joined on guitar, and Roger and Nancy became a couple as well. Their first album 'Dreamboat Annie' was recorded in 1974 in Canada and became a commercial success by 1975. In 1976, Heart split w/ their label and signed w/ CBS Records and found platinum success in 1977 w/ the album 'Little Queen'... the single 'Barracuda' became a huge hit... Heart had another platinum record 'Dog & Butterfly' (1978), but the sisters split w/ both Michael and Roger Fisher... and Roger Fisher was eventually fired. 'Bebe la strange' (1980) was another successful album, but Ann Wilson was beginning to gain weight in the early 80's and the music industry was not receptive to her full figure... Heart's popularity declined by 1983 and they were dropped by their label CBS. By 1985, Heart had a new line-up and was unwilling to break up... Capitol Records signed Heart that year, but wanted changes - the band was 're-made' as a glam rock band and the songs would be written by outside songwriters, not by Ann & Nancy Wilson. They agreed to those terms, but felt they had lost their musical credibility... The self-titled 'Heart' album in 1985 became their biggest commercial hit, selling 5 million copies after charting at #1 in the US... scoring hits like - 'What about love'... 'Never'... 'These dreams' (w/ Nancy on lead vocals). Heart scored more hits w/ the platinum albums 'Bad animals' (1987) and 'Brigade' (1990)... Unfortunately, the music videos made to promote the albums on MTV featured Nancy Wilson more, because Ann Wilson was a full-figure woman and her weight was hidden from view. In the 90's, grunge rock started to dominate the rock scene and Heart's popularity fell by 1995... the band took a break by 1996. After a long hiatus, Ann & Nancy Wilson finally reunited as Heart in 2002 w/ a new line-up to tour... releasing the album "Jupiter's darling" in 2004... They carried on recording & releasing new music. Unfortunately, an altercation in 2017 caused a rift between Ann and Nancy Wilson, and Heart split up again... They did reunite for a Heart tour in 2019, but lately the sisters have been playing in separate bands and both sisters have released solo records recently... Ann Wilson still insists that Heart will tour again.

Okay. HEART ist one of my top three alltime favorite bands and Ann Wilson is my alltime favorite female singer. So this comment will be a little bit longer 😉 I even took a flight from Germany to London just to watch my first HEART concert. There are two different styles in the sound of this band. When they started with their debut in 1975 they sounded more like the classic rock bands of that era (especially Led Zeppelin). The sound was partially influenced by folk sounds (Nancy played acoustic guitar) and it was edgier and progressive. Ten years later they changed the line-up (except the Wilson sisters) and their sound. It turned more to a typical 80s Melodic Rock/AOR-band. With the synthesizers, the big hair and a lot of good power ballads...like the one you started your HEART journey with. So don't be surprised if try the older stuff. It's still HEART but it sounds and looks different. Thats why I separate my song suggestions in two different parts. Heart songs from the 70s: - Barracuda (of course, everyone will suggest you this song) - Magic man (my favorite Heart song of the 70s) - Crazy on you - Dreamboat Annie - I'll be your song (a more unknown song...kind of a secret gem in their song discography) Heart songs from the 80s)90s: - If looks could kill (my favorite after "Alone") - What about love - All I wanna do is making love to you - These dreams (one of the few songs where Nancy did the lead vocals) - Back to Avalon P.S. If you ever come to Cologne check out the Hard Rock Cafe. They have one of Nancys guitars hanging on the wall.

Bisscute, this was the era in Heart's history in which they became commercialized by the record company. Now, the era in which they released songs like Barracuda, Crazy on You, Magic Man, Dreamboat Annie, Straight On, and Even it Up is the REAL Heart that you will eventually check out. That is the real Heart and you will be able to hear the difference too.

I agree, she needs to check out their earlier songs, especially Barracuda, Crazy on You, and Dreamboat Annie, but I think even their later songs show their greatness in that they could change with the times and still have hits that were relevant, not many bands can do this. The Wilson sisters are legends, such a great band!!!

@@MarkCucchiara No gunpoint was needed, but there are choices musicians can make in their careers. I guess when one is old enough to remember them originally from the 1970s and early 80s, it's easier to see how they chose the commercialized road than what they were later on. Oh well...

@@lewistasso8866 I am old enough to remember them from the 70s and that is my favorite era. Remember Heart started in the 60s before Ann and Nancy even were a part of it-I am familiar with that period as well. 60s and early 70s Heart is totally different-just as mid-70s and 80s Heart. They did what a lot of artists did in the MTV era- follow the money. See Genesis, Phil Collins, David Bowie ( who himself referred to the Let's Dance timeframe as his "Phil Collins period"), Peter Gabriel (Big Time isn't progressive rock, is it pop). What do they all have in common? Financial security and all are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. People and bands change over time and being more mainstream pays the bills.

Think about this very carefully. You know how a bunch of Metal Elitist snobs dropped Metallica when the Black album was produced? The band went more 'commercial' and so the Elitists claimed they 'sold out' to the industry, and then the Elitists turned into small children with their full-blown melt-down temper tantrums. I personally got front-row seats to that very thing when my big brother decided he did not like Metallica anymore. It was a RELEIF to me because he CONSTANTLY OVER-PLAYED their music SO LOUD that I could not even do my homework in my own house. Now, guess WHY Metallica did that? 'Sold out' and 'went commercial'? They were going fucking broke as an underground garage band, that's why. T-shirts and tickets to live shows was not paying the bills. The guys LOVED what they were doing and did not want to stop making music. With talent and skills like theirs, would it not have been a REAL WASTE for them to just go get 'real jobs' like everybody else was having to do at the time? What would music in general be like these days, if Metallica had stopped making music after Master of Puppets? How many other people would never have been inspired to keep going, if Metallica had just given up? "OH, WELL..." :P

I mean, i saw Heart in concert in the 70's and this song, this video of Nancy Wilson, the blonde girl guitar player, is one of the most "bad-ass" solo's and guitar playing, especially when she kneels while playing and THEN, while still kneeling, bend backwards and lays flat back on her lower legs, this is amazing and Nancy never misses a note.

Ann, the singer, and Nance are the Wilson sisters, and they first started in the 70's and their early stuff is so great as well. Watch Barracuda video from that time, listen to the album version of Magic Man and Crazy on You. Straight On, Dream of the Archer and the list goes on and on.

Heart was formed in 1967 by guitarist Roger Fisher and bassist Steve Fossen. They auditioned singer Ann Wilson, in 1970, and hired her. Her guitarist sister, Nancy Wilson, joined in 1974. Roger was voted out of the band in October 1979 and that's when Ann & Nancy officially took control of Heart. They've sold over 40 million albums. 😞 Unfortunately, Heart officially broke up in 2019.

To be fair, Heart have had a number of great songs (including 'Alone'), and some of which, were not even released as singles. I think, NOBODY HOME (from the album, HEART, released in 1985), is one of those somewhat hidden gems, which could've been a big hit, but there were obviously a good few other choices, such as, 'These Dreams', 'What About Love' and 'Never'.

Ann and Nancy are still Rocking . Ann and Nancy were both on tour this year. Ann is 72 and Nancy is 69. Nancy's birthday is in March. Floor Jansen from Nightwish on her KZbin Channel during covid. The Sisters are awesome. I even have there book and they are both still Beautiful.

Officially, it's a band. Realistically, it's Ann and Nancy Wilson plus whomever they're working with, at a given time. This song is '80s Heart. You get a few power ballads but not the guitar-centric rock of '70s Heart. Ann's vocals are amazing on both. Ann's the brunette. Nancy's the blonde.

This is a cover. Most people think Heart wrote this. Nope. It's a cover. This is Ann's peak vocally. She had it all in this time frame. Control, power. I saw them 3 times live each time it was different, but each time Ann was great. It was at different points in time. once when they were young in 75. Again in 82 and then I believe it was 2005.
