As a judo green belt I agree that BJJ lacks control on the ground. I have used many judo pins and holds on my teammates in BJJ and they simply are deficient in that aspect of grappling. I don't blame them but it will take a 15 or so for BJJ to evolve enough for the curve to catch up and for future instructors to teach this on a consistent basis. Even as a blue belt, many purple and brown belts have told me how top heavy I am due to my wrestling and judo background.

Thank you for this amazing video. One thing i rarely ever see in wrestling are wrist locks. But why not lock his wrists if he so comfortably offers them, you can easily submit him also if he is not careful, grab his wrist, lock them with your right arm and left hand, and then just apply a bit of pressure to make him move, one leg behind, get behind him, straighten his arm and pull his wrist lock and bring him to the ground and submit also.

Question: 5:17 Why can't you just stand up here? Why do you need to break the grip first? Why not get to your feet, and then break the grip? Great video, by the way! Thanks!
@josephbreza-grappling9459Ай бұрын
Having wrist control means when you sag the weight, it is connected to his shoulder so you have upper body control. If he does manage to stand up and you have wrist control then you will smash him on his face when you mat return him. He also can’t turn to face you when you have wrist control, so you are stuck and standing up was a waste of energy and time. Good luck breaking a two on one grip from a standing position. Record it and let me know how that goes😂

Wrong. The s grip around the waist is illegal in folk style bc it’s too effective. Khabib rode everyone with the s grip hands connected. It’s about where you place your hands.
@JordanTeachesJiujitsuАй бұрын
That's not why it's illegal
@فُلان-ه4ثАй бұрын
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu “Understanding the Wrestling Locked Hands Rule: The wrestling locked hands rule, also known as the locked-hands violation, is a regulation implemented to prevent a wrestler from gaining an unfair advantage during certain positions. This rule typically comes into play when a wrestler wraps their arms around their opponent's waist or body and then proceeds to lock their hands together in a specific manner. The violation occurs when the wrestler maintains the locked hands for an extended period, restricting their opponent's freedom of movement and potentially impeding their ability to defend or counterattack.”
@josephbreza-grappling9459Ай бұрын
In folkstyle, it is because you aren’t working towards a pin and so it is stalling. It is the same reason why you will get hit for stalling when someone stands hp up and you switch a single leg. It works and keeps you on top, but it isn’t working towards a pin, so it’s something refs will penalize you for. The rear bodylock is good for maintaining back control, but it isn’t good for preventing people from standing up. Khabib was really good at getting hooks in quickly and you also have to deal with punches. All the rides I show are ways to help give you some time to get hooks in. In general, I want to control the hand on the side that I am putting a hook in, so that he doesn’t catch it on the way in and compromise my position. Riding wrists allows for me to sag my weight and control his upper body while I work to keep him flat.
@فُلان-ه4ثАй бұрын
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 the spiral and wrist rides and turns are good control but you absolutely can prevent people from standing up by connecting the hands. Khabib would often go minutes and minutes at a time without getting hooks. Also Nicky rod used it in CJI to prevent people from standing up and then he’d take the back. They can maybe quad pod but if you keep your weight over their head they can’t fully stand up with it. I wouldn’t depend 100% on the technique bc if the guy is too fat you can’t do it but it is absolutely effective.
@PavelsKudrovsАй бұрын
@@فُلان-ه4ث Also there is Adam's Saitiev's training footage where he controlled and pinned his sparring partners from quadpod position. I would like to see Joe and Jordan going over ofense and defense from that position. Still I think they did a really good instructional.
