No one does anything on Tutsis and Hutus, the congo wars, Zambian politics, the Somalian fall from grace, South African history of appartheid or even the Zulu history. There is a lot of colour and history in west africa alone, y'know, the happy stuff. Nah, we gotta rip off Naruto.

Fuck , he wanted to rip off Naruto? Okay, good. Make an army of black Ninja that fight and die for their village only to have their benefits snatched away because everybody else is Senju and nobody likes the Uchiha. Wanna know why World War 2 was a "white man's war"? The Blue Discharge. . . . .That's why. Battlefield 5 could have done that, instead they just wanna simp to feminists and gay people.

Why did the ninjas tattoo the kid? Ninjas were assassins, they tried to blend in, and tats make you stand out. Also, IIRC, Japanese culture associates tattoos with rebels or criminals, because of the Yakuza being tatted.

Didn't Watchmen play with the idea? Like, wasn't Dr. Manhattan there to show how superheroes impacted history? Watchmen the comic came out in 08, with a film adaptation coming out the following year. Black was published in 2017. He had plenty of time to look at how other comics handle the idea of superheroes existing throughout history

If they wanted to write stories with a message they should take note from Congo folklore. Not only do they involve lessons, but great mythology. I remember one in which a boy captures and is befriended by a lightning bolt, a spider and another being that I can't recall. Anyways, all three return his kindness by helping him complete three tasks the king gave him. My favorite one was with the spider, who uses its web to capture a star. As for the moral of the story I forgot what it was. I know it wasn't the cliche of helping others, at least not exactly, but, regardless, it was an eye opener for me. Seriously, do writers, especially comic book writers of color, not realize the goldmine within their cultures?

Plus Africa is poor and dirty and they want nothing to do with it aside from claiming that they were all enslaved and kidnapped from there. Now feel guilty you nazi! There is this massive continent with a long history and rich folklore but they'd rather write black ninjas. There are comic artists (non-american) who use local folklore and mythology but sadly they rarely get translated to English or get a wide enough appeal.

Kwanza does know that: 1. The point of ninjas is espionage and assassination and to do that is to *not* stand out, to blend into the crowd and environment and hide in plain sight. 2. Unless they were gangsters or rebellious delinquents, tattoos tend to have negative connotations in Japanese culture, so those two would stand out even *more* than necessary. My LCS is the kind of small shop that will buy one copy of all the progressive BS, put it on a "Recommended" shelf, and then it never sells. During Black History Month, they put the 'black' - related titles faced out on the front-door book case. One issue of Black AF was front, top, and centered. It never sold. When they changed the display at the end of the month, I looked in the trades shelves and found that the single copy of Black AF was still there. There's probably at least a couple-thousand or more of them on a back shelf or in an overstock warehouse all over the US.

That final frame at 12:27 looks just like the ending of one of the Poltergesit movies, Carol Anne walking away with the dude wearing a top hat. Not gonna look it up to confirm, but its pretty similar in feel as much as a 20 year old memory goes anyway.

Even if you ignore the fact that this comic is blatantly racist, it gets pretty hard to ignore the fact that yet again someone has used ninjas. If you really think about it though, the modern ninja is and even really a Japanese trope. What we think of visit ninjas just something and enterprising Japanese man sold to ignorant westerners. A ninja is just a spy. The black suited assassin is entirely fictional and the outfit is actually based on something that Kabuki set piece arrangers would wear during their productions as a way of telling the audience that they are not a part of the production. It was basically the historical Japanese green screen.

When I was new in the military there were a bunch of crusty old guys who would do things that were, frankly, unnecessarily abusive (I felt at the time) because other had done these things to them when they were new. These crusty old guys did not fully understand why these things were done to them, or why they were doing it themselves, only that it was done before so they felt justified thus. I think this might be a similar situation. Doing things you consider unjust to others you'd otherwise not want done to yourself because you perceive still others had done them to you, so justice... somehow. It's a convoluted situation that originates from a place of bitterness. It's a good example of why professionals and wise ones suggest fixing one's self before trying to fix others.

Proof that the author was google translating: kuro is the noun, kuroi is the adjective. You cant have kuro kumo, it grammatically must be Kuroi kumo. Komarumo does not at all sound like a Japanese name, and neither does anansi. Can't think of any common name kanji that would make those names

A ninja is a spy. That's all they are. Sometimes, they might be called upon to kill someone, but this is rare. For the most part, they blend in, observe, then report. Of course, fucking up what a ninja is is fine given how the Japanese themselves have been happy to dance upon the lore with stuff like Naruto. The Metatron has some good videos on ninja if you want a historical look at them. As for that weird fashion, that may be fine in a place like Akihabara, but most of Japan is very conservative with clothing.

This is the weirdest comic I've ever heard of. 😆They're missing the teens pulling out their cell phone to take a picture of them "hiding in plain sight" it's so hilarious that it sounds terrible. I'd recommend the webcomic chicken and waffles but it's been so long since I looked it up that it's hard to find but really good and comes in comic book form.

Japanese street wear is very conservative usually. Nothing skimpy and nothing overly colorful or loud. There are some exceptions, but every one of my Japanese friends and both of my professors who are originally from Japan are unanimous on this one. If these two were just walking around in bluejeans and T-shirts, they'd be taken for tourists and nobody would look their direction twice. These outfits would just make them stand out more.

Now, to give credit where credit is due sort of, Yasuke is a nod to the “Obsidian Samurai”, an African slave who was turned into an apprentice of a Japanese lord, the two having a deep friendship even if they didn’t know what the other was saying. The lord himself? That... Was Obu Nobunaga... Who was a dictator... Y i k e s.

Agreed with the Star Wars example. except not the prequels, but the original trilogy instead. Still wondering why Vader charged into that asteroid field to begin with, instead of just leaving it to Fett, and going ahead to Lando's world to hold him hostage? And why the hell did they raid the "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" puppet special set for the Abominable snowman!

I know this is a four year old video, but I have to point this out. In X-Men, mutants only make up 2% of the ENTIRE world population. Since that number is comparatively small it makes sense that people wouldn't assume someone's a mutant. But it also bolsters the feeling of paranoia that anyone could be one. Making a bigger percentage of a smaller group that thing is incredibly stupid.

Thw most realistic way to have black ninjas would be to have the master be a ninja that was exiled from his clan. The master would have traveled, and eventually meet with one of the super human black people. This is when the master see potential, potential for revenge!!! He trains them while telling them lies, lies about his exile, lies about the Japanese, lies, and hate into his students. That got dark fast. Edit: I'm going to go further. After the master dies, two of his students go to Japan(illegally) in order to enact their master's revenge. When they get two the second best looks at modern Japan, and questions if this is right. Number 1 grabs 2, and calls him unfaithful, and weak. 1 readies his weapons when 2 leaves since he can't bother to watch. He close his eyes, and instead of screams he hears a clash of steel. He looks for 1 but can't find him. Instead he just hears more clashes of steel. He uses his trained hearing and/or abilities to track the sound down. He finds 1 in an alley way fighting a bunch of ninjas. Two are dead, and the other three are injured. 1 looks crazed, and is consumed by power. 2 tries to break them up. This causes 1 to feel betrayed, and after a quick fight with 2, he leaves. The ninja look at 2 to until they die. They are injured, and see that he isn't a normal human. This is supposed to be a plot line some I'm going to sum it up. 2 befriends the ninjas. They explain that in this version of Japan. The ninja are like secret police, and they saw 1, and 2 enter illegally. While trying to arrest 1 a fight broke out. 1 bide his time knowing that if he wants to destroy Japan he need to get rid of the obstacles(ninjas, and 1) so he lies low. 2, and the ninja work together to take down 1. After the ninjas make a deal that they will forgive his illegal entry of Japan if he promises to never teach the ninja ways. He accepts, and leave Japan to with a new goal. To protect the weak from the strong sh*t. If any wants to take this storyline please say you got the idea from a lightning wielding penguin...in your dream...on drugs...yeah.
