J G Continually brushing can actually damage certain types of black hair like mine, you have to first use your hands while the hair is dry from roots to ends, then get the hair wet, then while still wet, do the works, everything that you normally put in your hair, some people use different products and extra stuff, then brush it out which can take hours, then for me I have to braid it, which can take even longer, I’ve never seen what Asian hair is like, because I’ve never seen what they do to style it, and the only Asians I know, either have more black hair, or are dudes that wear short hair, I didn’t know it was that complicated tho

Wanting to have a certain type of hair because you personally think it looks nice does not equate to not liking your own hair. I am 100% positive that several black girls have been and are envious of caucasian or asian hair and wound up hating their own hair because of that, but that is not necessarily everyone's case. A lot of caucasian girls think afro-textured hair looks awesome, or they like how slick a lot of asian hair looks. Some blondes are envious of brunettes, some flat haired people want waves or curls. Some girls love colorful hair, but are too afraid to dye their natural hair because they also love their natural hair. I agree that more representation is necessary, but there is not always an underlying identity rejection crisis in every girl's heart just because they like a certain style ;)

LET'S BE REAL GUYS. if buzzfeed titled this video, "dads do their daughters hair for the first time" and all the participants were black, everyone would be like...."WHOA WTF EVERYONE IN THIS IS BLACK!!!! THAT IS RACIST!" So buzzfeed stated intention of video by specifying "black dads do their daughters hair" because they intended to explore the culture of afro textured hair with a fathers day twist. PLUS they've already done "dads do their daughters hair" videos.

Look at everyone trying to be politically correct. "wHY nOT jUST calL tHem dADs" It's a peek at African-American culture and hair. Afrocentric hair texture is usually coily, kinky, or difficult to style and manage. It's usually up to the moms to do the hair. But in this segment, the usual roles are switched so we can take a look at how the _dads_ style the hair. It's not politically incorrect to point out that they're black dads. They are after all, black dads. And it _matters_ because black culture and black hair are relevant to this segment. Don't be so sensitive.

Black dads doin their daughters hair for the first time: All the dads in this video are black, Black hair is more difficult to style, Usually moms are the ones that take care of it. That’s why they specified BLACK DADS and no that’s not racist.

Y'all. The title isn't racist. Black people are known to have a different hair texture then other races. Also, black men usually get stereotyped as not taking care of their kids so I think this is also Buzzfeed's way of trying of trying to break that stigma a bit.

THIS IS NOT RACIST for those offended by the fact that the title says “black dads” and think it should’ve been written as just “dads”...why can’t something finally JUST be about BLACK people. why does it always gotta accommodate to y’all races or ethnicities? the title isn’t racist since it’s not disrespectful nor offensive. nothing but positive representation of the BLACK community is being shown. if y’all aren’t black...why would you click on the video since it don’t apply to you? fr y’all always gotta find something to be offended by, it’s not that deep.

TTVEliteCheerio Why does race make you so uncomfortable? The way I see it is society has taught you to avoid talking about race because you’ll always end up getting the short end of the stick. Black people don’t have that privilege. In reality Race MATTERS to us. Just because you want to avoid talking about it because it makes you uncomfortable doesn’t make it go away. If anything I’m glad buzzfeed takes time to recognize that everything isn’t the same across the board. Y’all only have a problem with people of color being recognized in the title.😒

How is the title racist ? Traditionally in the black community like in any other community doing your children’s hair is particularly done by the women. Majority of the hairstyles black women wear are passed down generation to generation are from mother to daughter. So having Black Dad’s learn and try these hairstyles on their daughters is beautiful and groundbreaking. Let’s not forget black peoples hair for the most part have a tighter curling pattern, so managing to do the hairstyles on our hair takes a lot of practice. From the simplest ponytail to the two layer cornrows with beads at the end.

I think that they wanted to use these families because their hair is special and is especially taken care of and honestly harder to do than, for example, white hair. I’m not trying trigger anybody. This is just what I feel was the main angle for the video

For all the people commenting why does it have to say “black dads”, the way I took it is those with African ethnicity/race tend to have harder to deal with hair. So this wouldn’t be a normal “dad’s try to do their daughters hair” because this hair is way harder to manage than some dads putting their white daughters straight blonde hair into a ponytail. They might have been able to title it better, but this is what I believe they meant by it.

For anyone who i getting annoyed with the title. The reason it says black dads is because it is black dada doing their black daughters hair. Imagine if they just said dads doing their daughters hair for the first time and then only showing black dads, then their would be a problem. Them stating it just helps to specify the video and it contents. As a black person my self I have no problem with the title and neither should you. It is not racist in the slightest, just let it be.
