Nice video. I made a drill converted to an adaptor everything was was right as far as i know but not the amp it had the right voltage. I don’t have the drill anymore the adaptor could over heat if i kept using it the way it was.

I made a belt sander with 18v drill motor. This used nearly 10 amps at start up.

@@ruinunes8251 Yes. The 18v motor I used pulled 10 amps at start and 5 amps when free running. Under load the motor will pull more current for sure.

No. You need a 5v dc supply. USB 5v is good.

My identical Black & Decker screwdriver just gave up and I was looking to replace the battery when I found several videos suggesting upgrading to Lithium Ion batteries so that it what I plan to do when my 18650s arrive (I'm going to put two in parallel. However, the video description states that the original charger is 3.6v but whilst my screwdriver is the same as yours (3.6v), the charger (original Black & Decker UK) is 5.5v so this comment is confusing for me.

If you use a charge control circuit like TP4056 this will take a supply between 4 and 8v and charge an 18650 cell to 4.2v. This does not mean that your charger will work. Are you sure your charger is 5.5v DC. If it is AC it will kill the TP4056 and battery.

@@DaftOldMan I only checked the voltage (I have to change my glasses to see the text on chargers!) and saw the 5.5v and wondered why it was different to the 'original 3.6v charger' which you mentioned. However, having had another look, I can see that it is 5.5v AC.

@@DaftOldMan That's funny because that's exactly what I did when I assumed the output was DC (except I got 0.08v) and then I thought that maybe the output was somehow waiting for a load the way the low voltage lights do in my kitchen.

@@DaftOldMan Thanks for the tip, though. However, I bought a USB to barrel connector cable which I intended to use with a 3.4A USB power supply that I have and then found a 5v DC 1A power supply from an old Android TV box which I will try.

Greetings and Thanks for your videos. My question is. Are the positive and negative poles of the motor soldered directly to the positive and negative pole of the battery? Or is a wire taken out of the positive and negative charging connector and from there they go to the motor? Thanks.

You can go from the battery negative and positive or from the charge circuit board output negative and positive as these are the same thing. If the circuit board has discharge protection you can go from that negative and positive but I do not use it. I ignore any discharge protection outputs and use the battery voltage direct.

@@DaftOldMan I found running the motor from the +/- on the board, did not provide enough amps to run it, so had to connect them to the same as the battery on there.

You do not use the diode with Li-Ion battery. Any mA Li-Ion battery will work. I used 1500mA.

It should work. Try another BMS.
