Excellent video man, can't believe it slipped under my radar! I recorded/mixed/mastered this (and IA stuff) and would love to colab with you if you'd be down? We could add an extra layer of depth by going through vocal stems which could be cool. I know Alex would be super down too! - Aaron

@Bungee Even though his combination of vocal techniques is tonally unique to deathcore. Other bands and genres have had those styles of vocals long before Black Tounge was a band. Dig into some past bands, and you'll find out for yourself.

I think what makes the album so good is, as mark said, it takes you on a journey ... it's not all just utter pummeling death the entire time, it has highs and lows and enough motion that even though the whole album is deep and dark, when they drop into the utterly crushing deepest lows, it still feels like something special rather than just another low part.

Tbh I think Teyen might just be my favorite deathcore vocalist. While yeah Dickie Allen, Alex Terrible, CJ McCreery, and Will Ramos are great and bombastic, I find Teyen able to be impressive without stealing the attention from the rest of the band and the actual nuance of the composition. I’m able to appreciate how dynamic he is as a vocalist, while still managing to enjoy the storytelling and intricacies in the songwriting and have fun with the heavy riffs and breakdowns. While Allen, Alex Terrible, McCreery, and Ramos may be bigger show stoppers, I find Teyen to be the superior artist. No disrespect to the other aforementioned vocalists. All amazing in their own rights (I’m very much excited for the new Lorna Shore EP 🤘). I just love Black Tongue so much. 🙂 Unrelated note: I relate to the appreciation of meditative music, which is why I love sludge/stoner/drone metal. Swans is also always a fantastic example of meditative music. I love the title track of Gaza’s “No Absolutes In Human Suffering”, which is basically a 4 minute song of the vocalist yelling the name of the album with a heavy sludge metal riff. I eat that shit up.

Have you ever listened to daughters? Not necessarily metal, but Alexis Marshall does a lot of odd vocal techniques including screaming on some songs. I would love to see a reaction to a song off their 2018 album "you wont get what you want" Perhaps satan in the wait, long road no turns, ocean song, or guest house? I think it would make for an interesting video for sure
