That’s because the “real” Mexico City can be a really dangerous place. Iztapalapa is well known for it’s high crime rate. Going alone with a camera in hand is not a great idea if you are exploring areas like that.

I'm from Mexico (I live in the US now) and I remember the first time I went back when I was around 16, I literally kept staring at a girl who was speaking English with someone at a Plaza....she looked at me and said 'i'm having a private conversation with my friend, do you want to join!?'...she was mad...and at the moment I didn't realize I was being inappropriate by staring and being nosy, but I will never forget that. For me it was like 'I can speak English now!' and I could understand her! I was so excited and when you're from a different country (non-US), you get so proud of speaking English and you want to 'show off' that you can understand them!...but I was very naive and shouldn't have been nosy It didn't even cross my mind that I was being inappropriate. I hope you enjoyed Mexico. It has been a while since I've gone back I enjoyed watching the real Mexico at least around the Mexico city.

@@itsjasminegiselle This is the second of your videos I have watched. It seems like you are feeling better about Mexico City. Was the tall gentleman on your tour an expat like you? Maybe he has a group of friends with whom you could hang out. I also subscribe to another African-American woman's channel. I think she lives in Mexico City and shares your love of the finer things. Maybe you two could collaborate, even be friends? The name of the channel escapes me at this time. Do more tours, make new friends. Peace!

I am a US citizen, but Mexico gave me political asylum in 2010. I got involved immediately with a bunch of older folks, Black Panther Party members who have been exiled down here from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, they want to go visit kids and grandkids in the US but still got warrants for their arrests. Most of them are retiring now though, and most gave classes at the UNAM

Good day. Great video. You seem much happier than the previous video I watched. (The one where you had been there for 4 days.) I'm glad that I watched this video before I commented. I am a black American woman who lives in Chicago. I'm 60, but look much younger. I'm vibrant and love people and doing "stuff". I said that to set the context. My husband and I just arrived from Mexico City this morning. It was a 3 day trip, our first to CDMX. I loved it from day one! Yes, there was more of a language barrier than I expected, but people were kind and helped us. (And we used Google translate alot!) We never felt that anyone was looking at us differently. Most folks just went about there business and did not pay any attention to us. If we smiled, they smiled back. If we said Hola, they responded. We loved the energy of the city and that there are so many things to do and places to be. CDMX may now be our new favorite place in Mexico. We look forward to going back! I realize your previous video was 3 months ago. I hope that you have settled in now and found your "peace place". May the rest of your journey be filled with wonderful, enriching experiences. God bless you for taking this travel lesson while you are still young! Seeing the world is the best classroom! PS - I loved this tour. I'm definitely making note of this for our next trip to CDMX. Thank you for sharing! 😊
