The exterior size is almost exactly the same as the P85. The only panels that are different are the hood, bumpers and rocker panels. The weight on the P100D is about 200lbs more than the P85. I think it feels smaller due to the dark headliner and center console; and lighter due to tuning improvements with additional power.
@BlackTesla6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and insight agree on almost all points. However on further inspection and confirmation from both the design team and techs at the service center they all confirm that the dimensions of the car have been changed to make the car "tighter". So the hood is different as is the pitch of the roof and angle of the windshield as a result, it's slight but noticeable. I corrected myself because I know it's heavier but definitely feels lighter as you say. I'll post some side-by-side pics on Twitter to show the difference visually.

As a Tesla owner, you should ALSO tell people that they can get a 5 year extended warranty if they use your referral code to get Tesla Solar Panels. This is a huge thing that one very well spoken Tesla Energy representative explained to me but I hadn't considered until late last year. For a long time I was under the impression that Tesla solar panels would be really expensive. Until he explained that because Tesla is one of the only solar companies in the US that ACTUALLY manufactures their own solar panels within the USA (Gigafactory 2 in New York) they are able to avoid the Trump tarrifs on imported solar panels from China. So while others raised their prices, Tesla actually reduced it's prices this year. In addition to this, Tesla also offers a payment plan in California, where you can order the solar panels with NO DOWNPAYMENT!!! You simply finance (I would never LEASE solar panels) the cost by paying a very low monthly payment that would effectively replace your electricity bill. i.e. instead of paying PG&E $140/month for electricity (which is my rough average bill), I am now paying Tesla $150/month for the next 10 years......And this implies that I am more or less BUYING my solar panels for $100 a year for 10 years! And after that is done, I will be powering my home AS WELL AS my Nissan Leaf (hopefully, I would have a Tesla by then) ABSOLUTELY FREE for the next 15 years (under warranty)!!! I am also told that you can add a Powerwall to this FINANCING plan for some extra $50/month I guess, and still NO DOWN PAYMENT! That is amazing!!!

@BlackTesla6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to comment! I've tried using the partition but the problem is that there is a bug with the dashcam (as of 42.2-.4) where if you do not pause recording the drive gets corrupted and is unrecognizable by the car until you fix it, so rather not have my music inaccessible if/when that happens.

'not sure about your aesthetic sense, but perhaps you could get a company to build you custom wheel covers to increase the efficiency. certainly there would be other S and X owners out there who would like to have aero wheels. Since Unplugged Performance is getting into aero mods, they might benefit from creating custom wheel covers that pop onto the wheels.

wait for 2019 battery upgrade and interior refresh if thats your thing me thinks they'll up the models to 90/120, add horsepower to beat the porsche taycan down before it ever exists and the new battery cell is CHEAPER and BETTER in multiple ways
@Richard-ie1if6 жыл бұрын
@@BlackTesla the 3 for better or worse has gotten most of their attention since 2017 :(. the 1850 cells are showing their age badly sucks when their flagship has less range than a 55k 3 that they requested have its range reduced by the EPA even >> the new cells are cheaper lighter and even put out more power I think, so you'll get more and more power per cell even. couldn't care less for the air vent upgrade and the concept artwork for the screen setup makes it look identical to a 3 but the drivetrain upgrades will be amazing

Great comparison video! I also recently purchased a Model S P100D which is replacing a Model S 85D that we have owned since new (2015). I am having a bit of an issue with regard to charging the new S P100D that I hope you can shed some light on for me. The problem I am having is when using the supplied charging cable (which is 32 amps) I am only getting about 21 mph charging rate @ 240-243V ( it should be at least 23 mph). When I use the charging cable from my model S 85D (rated at 40 amps) to charge my model S P100D I get 27 mph charge rate @ 240-243V. When I use the 40 amp cable to charge my 85D, it charges at 30 mph @240-243V like it is supposed to. Could you please tell me what mph charge rate you get with your model S P100D with the suppled 32 amp cable? If you have ever tried a 40 amp cable I would like to know the mph charging rate results with the 40 amp cable as well. I have discussed the issue with the service department at the dealer I bought the car from and have not yet gotten a satisfactory answer to this under spec charging issue. And yes the amps setting is set at the appropriate 32 and 40 amp settings. I would very much appreciate your opinion and input on this. Thanks for the great videos you post, Scott
@BlackTesla6 жыл бұрын
The supplied mobile connector has me at 26mph @40amps 245v. Perhaps try using another 32amp cable to see if it's consistent.
@scottbennett31196 жыл бұрын
@@BlackTesla Thanks for checking. When I use the 32 amp cable that came with my car, it automatically sets the amps to 32 and I get a 21 mph charging rate. (the spec sheet says it should be a 23 mph) Is your supplied cable 32 amps rated or is it a 40 amp cable? I also have a 40 amp cable which charges my P100D at 27 mph, which is under spec. The same 40 amp cable charges my old 85D at 30 mph. The tesla tech says he is looking into to the under spec charging issue, but hasn't gotten back to me. If you have the 32 amp cable, what is the mph charging rate at 32 amps? If you have the 40 amp cable, what is your charging mph at 40 amps? I greatly appreciate your helping me with this issue. Scott
@scottbennett31196 жыл бұрын
I just want to clarify: Is your supplied cable rated at 32 amps? And you are getting 26 mph charging rate with the supplied 32 amp cable when it is plugged into the NEMA 14-50 240V outlet? (I`m getting 21 mph, which is below the advertised 23 mph and not acceptable to me considering how much this car costs). I realize this is taking time from your day and I very much appreciate your help in giving me the info I need to determine if I have a defective onboard charging inverter in my model S. Thank again for your help and for the great videos.
