I found my old DSI a couple of months back but the top screen was busted. Tried to get a new one off aliexpress but I guess there’s a shortage or something because for some reason there not a single one left like it’s literally JUST DSI XL top screens that are sold out. Finally found a replacement for like $18 on Amazon so crossing my fingers that things work out and I can get started on jailbreaking it!

I modded my dsi yesterday using the old way, then this video was posted today. I did end up using the flip note studio mod though to avoid bricking my dsi, so it worked out.

Hi Blaine! First off, I like when I see KZbinrs such as you make videos about TWiLight Menu++! Yes, I'm the developer of both TWiLight Menu++ & nds-bootstrap homebrew apps. Second, while I understand the need for video guides (such as users being unable to read or understand text guides), and while I give props to you for not showing our text guide (as it often gets updates) (and aside from a split second of it or so), there is something I'd like to point out. Your DSi AIO pack contains an outdated version of TWiLight Menu++, which is v25.10.0. Outdated AIO packs are one of the reasons why we don't recommend video guides. At the very least, could you please update your AIO pack accordingly, when each new TWiLight Menu++ version releases? If you feel you can't be bothered to do that each time, then a better alternative would be to *please* stop making DSi hacking/jailbreaking video guides. Because those kinds of videos get outdated quickly, and some people who do follow your DSi video guides will end up on our Discord server anyways, due to the issues they're getting. Instead, what you could do, is make DSi hacking videos which aren't guides, but instead show what you can do after you've hacked your DSi. That way, if you still care about views, I'm sure those kinds of videos will be as popular as the video guides (maybe even more popular)! Anyways, that all I have to say. Have a nice day!

try using a new sd card worked for me, and before using a new sd card format the new sd without selecting the quick format option from windows ,also brefore downloading the DSAIO to the sd card create an DCIM folder on ur sd by taking a picture with ur dsi and storing it on the sd card. i repeat this worked for me hopefully it does also work for you :)

Edit: I have been playing it for the past week almost nonstop and if I wanna try out a new game all I have to do is go to my computer and convert it to the DSi, it’s amazing and far more worth it than most people might think, and nothing you downloaded on the DSi store gets deleted or messed with. Literally my favorite system to jailbreak other than 3DS.

I remember the old method was risky because even if you did everything correctly there was a small percentage to brick the console. Is this the same?

It kinda was. It's MUCH safer now. The real risk comes from not doing the NAND backup during the jailbreak process. If you ever want to uninstall CFW (I do it every time I make one of these DSi videos), or your system gets bricked, the only way to get it back is a proper NAND backup. Make that backup, archive it, and you'll be super happy you did if you ever need it.

Figured it out for anyone seeing this, just copied the files from first sd card onto my computer, then inserted the new one and put them on there. Back into the ds and it worked the same.

One important thing to note, make sure your SD card is formatted in Fat32 with allocation size set to 32kilobytes, makes loading so much quicker!

This happened to me, I turned off my DSI then removed the SD card, then I pressed A+B and powered on and the unlaunch menu popped of for me! Let me know if It works for you!

hey! question, is it possible to go back to the normal ds menu as if its never been jailbroken or can you no longer go back? i did the no button boot/nds thing and i want to remove it so that everytime i turn on the ds i have to go through the photos menu and activate it there, but when i tried putting it back to filemenu it just opened the same screen, and i honestly want to go back to the normal menu since i have some old childhood photos saved there (that are backed up) so i was wondering if its possible to go back (great video btw! really simple to follow!!) 8:05

Yeah, you can. You set it up in a way where you have to hold down a button for TWiLight Menu++, and you can customize which button you wanna use for it later, so it isn't permanent.

Got to the 7:25 mark and DSi powers on (blue light on) but nothing comes up on either screen. Now I can't get anything to show up. Everything in the tutorial was working fine until I tried to do the restart (holding A&B buttons while powering up). Now I have both screens black, blue power light on and no response to any buttons or powering on/off. I'm assuming something with the hardware is altered and inaccessible with said tutorial. Please, help!

maybe try putting the unlaunch file back onto the sd card, back into the nintendo dsi and then open settings in the unlauch app again and revert the automatic booting back to filemenu? im aware that this is most likely little help but its just an idea and wanted to try and help anyway 💔

With this method you are not left with a roms folder on your sd card. Your video showing us how to play DS roms from the sd card requires this folder. Can we just create a folder named roms with a nds folder inside?

I successfully did this mod and then I decided to format the SD card to use for something else. I made a back up on my desktop of the SD card. I put everything back on the SD card and now all I get is a black screen. If I unload the SD card and turn the system on I get a Nocash Unlaunch.dsi 2.0 menu. If I stay on this menur and load the SD card in the menu disappears and there are no options to select. I don't understand what happened but I cannot figure out what to do to fix it.
