One important item I sadly learned is that the "crush washer" is usually not given to you when you get a drain plug. I thought the plug and washer I was given was the whole item. Plug leaked and I added to the overtight from previous owner (leaks when i got car) and had to do new pan to fix. 1000 error. So be sure you get the crush washer also plus plug and don't make my error. I suggest you get parts from dealer for these oil changes. Why VW would use separate crush washer is bizarre. But now you know.

What's up with the rust on the subframe under the engine? Never seen that before on such a new looking car. Tell vw, maybe they have defective subframes?

Great video! Question about oil capacity, why specify 4 liters instead of 4.22 quarts? I have yet to see oil sold by the liter in the USA.
@blauparts2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, thanks for the comment! We specify 4 liters because the German bottles of RAVENOL oil we use in our oil change kits are sold by liter instead of by quart: www.blauparts.com/vw-jetta-motor-oil-change-kit-1-4t-0w20-vw-508-00.html

I've noticed you removed the oil filter before you drained the oil. Does a lot of oil drain from the filter area or only what's trapped in the filter? Basically I wouldn't be able to drain everything from the filter and not use the oil drain plug right? I ask because I don't have any crush washers and want to minimize messing with stuff.
@coreyclouse12552 жыл бұрын
you have to pull the drain plug to get all the oil out (or suck it out from above thru the dipstick hole). Pulling the filter will not drain all of the oil from the crankcase.
@kenmastersmaster Жыл бұрын
@@coreyclouse1255how much oil will drain? I notice the filter is above the oil sump so I'm guessing none of the oil will come out except for what's in the filter?

@@kenmastersmaster correct, only the oil in the filter will come out when you just pull the filter.

Why the filter then the plug? Is that preference or just a specific way for this car
@shimjohn8 ай бұрын
Definitely preference. The most common way is open up the oil fill cap (for gravity), then drain plug, then filter.

@blauparts2 жыл бұрын
If you have a 2019+ Jetta 1.4T, yes, an 0W-20 oil with a VW 508 00 approval like RAVENOL VSE is best. However, if you have a 2013-2018 Jetta 1.4T, then an oil with a VW 502 00 approval is needed, like RAVENOL VMO 5W40. Check out all our available Jetta oil change kits that include the correct oil viscosities and amounts of oil here: www.blauparts.com/parts/volkswagen/jetta/vw-jetta-oil-change-kits.html

Are vw oil changes on the 2019 jetta more expensive than a Toyota Corolla or Honda accord? If so, r we talking about only $20 or is it considerably more expensive??
@miraclesonnie54902 жыл бұрын
When I got mine done professionally they charged $120 (because it takes synthetic, costs more.) Where as a conventional oil change would be around $60. Not too much a big cost difference if you do it yourself tho.
@wooju19912 жыл бұрын
In my personal experiences, it would be considerably more expensive than $20, I'd spend around $40 in total, oil + filter + new drainplug and washer
@alexsmith69142 жыл бұрын
@@miraclesonnie5490 $120?? What a rip off!! To add... Not much of a cost difference? I did mine myself (as I always do) this past weekend. $32.99 for 5qts of Castrol advanced synthetic blend and Auto Zone was running a special for an STP 10,000 mile oil filter with that for $34.99. (Only 2 extra dollars) I always grab a new plug and gasket every change as well from NAPA which is $3 and some change. I'd have to say that's a HUGE cost difference.
