Just an note on Eric's comment this episode. You called the Island a 'planet', and it's interesting to note that the Greek word 'planetes', where we get the word planet, means 'wanderer'. And the Island moves.

Yup. I went there the first time, not because I had questions that were not answered, but simply out of curiosity. It turned out, there were answers I didn't know I needed, and got. Some people go there and don't agree with his take on things, I'm one that agrees with his take damn near 100%.

A much deviled episode, but just like Rick, I liked it. It's not AMAZING, and it doesn't answer that many questions, but it still fills you in with some interesting context to the whole mythology of Lost. Now all we have left is the emotional ending of this show. Have they mentioned if they'll check the epilogue?

This episode answers about 14 questions: • What is the island? • What is the electromagnetic energy? • Why was the button saving the world? • Who built the Wells? • Who are Jacob/MiB and what is their story? • How was the smoke monster created? • What is the purpose of special people on the island? • Who built the Donkey Wheel? • What is the origin of the unbreakable rules? • Why does the MiB say that "Jacob took my body" to Richard? • What is the origin of the story of the knife that Dogen gives Sayid and that MiB gives Richard and why they say "do not let him hesitate, do not let him say a word, if he speaks it will already be too late"? • Who are Adam and Eve? • Why and how do the Temple waters heal people? • Why do The Others speak Latin and view it as being the 'language of the enlightened'? This episode has by far the most answers in it, compared to any other episode.

I think it does more than answer alot of questions, this episode prevents 1000's of questions that would be speculated about to this very day. Does it raise some? Of course. But the best thing about Across the Sea is that it satisfies 2 competing souls searching for meaning in our existence. Those that need answers to all their questions and those that question all the answers.

@@danielgray2661 In a way, it's similar to a lot of the show in general, where a lot of viewers claim they barely answered anything, when there's a lot of answers; sometimes, it's not literally shown to you but there's enough there to reason things out. One main thing is I can't believe they had to address the polar bears in the epilogue, when they're addressed multiple times in the show.

I have a whole theory of pocket dimensions and personal purgatories. Always need a protector (controller/owner) of the pocket dimension/personal purgatory. Or it wouldn't continue to be it would slip into the rest of purgatory. It's broken or apart from the rest of purgatory because there is still a path back to the real world from The Island. Which explains how the smoke monster can be trapped in the personal purgatory and not be dead or alive but still have a path off The Island. Also explains why all these people who should be dead at the start aren't. They're the ones who are trapped in the pocket dimension (Jacob's personal Purgatory that he brought them to when they were supposed to die) that is The Island.

Recently listened to a podcast where somebody related a new show to Lost that they were afraid it was also going to end up not answering anything. And I honestly think the end of Lost and the end of The Sapranos are the most misunderstood endings of our generation, if not all media in general. Yeah the writers for Lost didn’t have the exact ending in mind when they started it, but they gave answers for everything. Yes, some answers are “well, supernatural forces” and there’s the afterlife aspect of the finale and flash-sideways moments, but Dharma pretty much gets totally explained, and even with supernatural elements so is The Smoke Monster and his infecting people, Jacob and the moral tests the candidates go through, mostly everything has at least a solution if not a perfect one. As for the ending of The Sapranos, I won’t spoil it here (only spoiling Lost because of how close we are to the finally and the fact that this came out 6 months ago), but if you’ve seen it all and think the ending sucks, I’ll explain in the replies why it doesn’t.
