Been dreading this day. It makes my heart hurt sooo bad. Ji Yeon is now an orphan. She will never meet her father. The last thing she ever said to Sun was "Come home"...and now Sun never will. Jin and Sun deserved to live a happy life together finally off the island. I wish Jin's father was able to reconcile with his son eventually. THEY DESERVED BETTER...😭😭😭 I will always hate and love this episode for what it does to us. Always...I always tear up

She wouldn't have met Jin if he had left Sun behind. He didn't have an air tank. Nor was he unconscious like Frank. In other words, Jin would have died whether he had left Sun behind or not.

Eric has seen this multiple times, and I assume the rest of us in the comment section have as well. But it still affects him at the 9:30 mark. Between reactions and viewing, I've probably seen this more than 15 times. And I still tear up when Jin says his goodbye. Just damn good character development.

This episode is tragic for many reasons, but it struck me watching this reaction: we went from all of our remaining Losties finally reunited and heading to the sub to losing almost half of them in less than an episode, which really broke my heart. Like Rick said, I wasn't super affected by the loss of Sun and Jin the first time I watched it because we were still seeing them in the flash-sideways. Still, every time I've watched it since it's really gotten to me, and then again when Hurley cries, because they've all been through so much together and lost so many of their friends, and they had finally reunited after so long. Also, I've been watching Hawaii Five-0 and it is a real trip to watch these two shows because it feels so weird to see so many of the actors in that show (I'm currently in the middle of season 2, and so far I've seen Jin, Locke, and Alex, and I know Hurley's actor will be in there soon too) when they're doing somewhat normal things in comparison to the craziness that is their Lost journeys.

I'm one of the biggest LOST lovers there is. I love the ending. I love most stuff that happens, even when we lose characters. But Jin & Sun's fate will always be the one thing I really disliked as a writing decision. I remember vividly when it first aired, it was the first time I wanted to quit the show. I obviously didn't, but in that moment I was so frustrated and angry with the decision. I believe the show runners and writers said they wanted the audience to believe everyone was fair game, and that no one was safe, etc, but it just felt like such a slap in the face to build up their reunion and build up them getting to each other, only to kill them both an episode later. It always felt like the writer's did it just to subvert expectations, and that's such a lazy choice. I think i also read the writers later regretted this decision, but I might be misremembering, lol.

It's important to note that for so long, not only this season but really since Sayid lost Nadia (and Shannon), he's wanted to die. He doesn't care about anything anymore, he doesn't feel anything is holding him to earth anymore, whether on the island or off the island. So he tried everything he could to either die or bring Nadia back: deals with the devil (man in black) and doing some pretty terrible things. Until he has a gun to Demond's head and Desmond asks him "When she asks what you did to be with her again. What will you tell her?" That shocks something in Sayid and he chooses not to kill Desmond and joins our heroes again. But he still clearly does not want to go on living. There's still nothing for him here; he wants to die. What does he do instead? Sacrifices himself for his friends. I can only imagine that when Nadia (and/or Shannon) ask him in the after life what he did to be with her again, he can honestly answer that he died a hero's death.

To drag Jin and Sun's reunion out for so long and then immediately kill them was not good, IMO. And poor Sayid, too. 😭

this is why i don't personally like this season spoilers cuz it gives u hope in the flashsideways that they're still okay, but in the finale they've just been dead this whole time and this is jjust how they went out. sun and jin going out together is touching, but, like they said, their kid is now an orphan. sayid exploded a broken man, lupidus gets bitchslapped by a door. just unsatisfying to me, knowing how it ends. glad other peeps can enjoy it; it's just not for me.
