@dirkhan74 No denying Brother Paul is doing an excellent job as you have mentioned. But don't underestimate the jobs the Muslim scholars are doing for the deen. Everyone has a special field. They all won't excel in all areas. As laymen, we have a problem of assuming the Muslim scholars must excel in all fields or they are not fit to be a scholar. They are just as human as you and I. We can both hold the same degree in one subject but our expertise will differ. You stronger in one or more aspect and I in another. Also, not everyone has the secular education to back up certain points. Hope you understand where I'm coming from. Peace out

@@yaffacake22 I don't disagree on the point that Muslim scholars do have an impact in society but they have yet to come up with solutions to the bigger problems (political, economic, and intellectual) that the Muslims face as an Ummah. They are divided along sectarian lines and most of them unaware of what challenges do Muslims face other than performing prayers, observing fasting, making haij etc. not to mention their proclivity for theological discussions.

(The Sheikh's "apa" fillers mean 'what.. what is it.." something like that. So very Malaysian. ♥) I loved this talk so much - completely mind-blown when he said "The Western worldview is always in the state of becoming." Just so profound. This is an all-too-familiar conversation in the Muslim world which is what we in the Muslim lands call an in-house discussion. Talking about the state of Muslims today is a topic that is ubiquitous in the Muslim world and often discussed.

Because this is what happens when a community realises there is something fundamentally wrong with their existence and relationship with the modern world despite having a preserved revelation with ample guidance from the Creator. Muslims inherently feel there is something wrong but are confused about the solution, even though they have been taught and suspect that Islam is the answer. Yet they are not knowledgeable enough to know or understand how this is so.

36:09 Reminded me of a quote from Aristotle in his work Nicomachean Ethics Volume 3 “equals should be treated equally and unequals unequally”. This understanding of justice and equality between the genders is something that the West has not appreciated how different men and women have been created. Equity is how this ought to be achieved.

Very interesting talk indeed.. Alhamdulillah.. Many born Muslims have very little knowledge these days.. Most gain them in school, in Malaysia, primary and secondary school. If parents sent their children to private or international school, Islam are not emphasised, instead worldly survival are more important for them. These are among the rich as of those among the low income, mom and dad goes out to work for wordly survival and children and left to mind their on life spiritually or no spiritual knowledge at all.. Hence the generations we are facing now.. As Malay, good ethics and respects are basically taught at home, but now they learn everything from internet...😔

One of the main points of Muslim ignorance concerns their knowledge of the Qur'an, it is mostly dated and rife with numerous mythologies rather than scholarly understanding. Fortunately, the Project Illumine Qur'an commentary is now available to redress the balance, available from the Usuli Institute's KZbin channel.

Not really. A private uni belonging to TNB the electrical company offers Tahfeez Engineering program. The Malaysian graduates coming from UK, China*, Japan, South Korea are religious and most are active in dawah groups. Including street dawah movements. *we stopped sending kids to uni in China. Bad decision imo. They were ones who can get through Baidu and read the real situation amongst western propaganda against China. Stopping the program of sending Malaysian kids from graduating in China universities is cutting off dawah effort in China.

Also boarding school systems like MARA, SBP often conduct programs to make the students gain awareness about the affairs of the ummah; about lsraeli occupation of Palestine, about the refugee problems ie Syria, Rohingya etc. Sometimes even non-muslim students become interested and willingly attend these programs where they're not even invited. Then they become allies of the ummah or even better, part of the ummah.

@gilesearly7629
@gilesearly7629 Жыл бұрын
@@nanashi7779 Thank you for your response. I am largely ignorant of Islam, but it is interesting to learn from the discussions and comments. I get the impression that perhaps Christianity and Islam may not be entirely opposed, as they might not be exactly the same sort of thing. But in answer to your question, I think there are two quite different ideas of truth. I don't think in the christian doctrine and scriptures, that we have a code of ethics laid down in quite the same way, as, if my impression is correct, it is in the Quran. Rather I think we have witnesses to the truth: in the old testament the prophesies and in the gospels and the epistles the teaching and history of Jesus, as it has come down to us. So I think in christianity that truth is a matter of signification, rather than revelation, although the word is believed to have been written with the guidance of the the Holy Spirit. Coming down in this way, It is all understood to lead back to Jesus, and to signify that he himself - a singular individual - was the truth in flesh and blood, as it says in the Gospel of John. Peace be with you.

It's in the liturgy: "Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me." I suppose the words must me out out of one of the gospels, not sure which at the moment.

Another fascinating discussion. Thank you. As I understand the proposition in this episode, the crisis referred to in the title involves a lack of a settled Muslim ethical code interpretation that can be promoted in countering Western (Judeo/Christian) codes. In other words, there is no consensus among Muslims unified enough to intellectually challenge the encroaching Western philosophy that has been adopted and is being adopted more and more widely. There are disagreements within Islam as to the "proper" way to address moral questions. If I, a Non-Muslim, may offer an observation while looking in from outside. Western philosophy contains within it a method for arriving at consensus. The dispute resolution process of democracy is an organ internal to Western philosophy. Should men and women be treated as equals? Western democracy addresses this question. Once the consensus is formed, it is adopted and then presented as the Western position. Should evolution or Creationism be accepted and taught in schools? In the West, this question is run through the mill of democracy - dispute resolved - and consensus applied. How should suspected criminals be tried? Punished if found guilty? Disagreement abounds. So, the question is run through the dispute resolution mill of democracy. Through it, the citizenry determines the ethical answer. Does Islam need a dispute resolution process in order to form presentable consensuses? It seems there are many disagreements among Muslims awaiting resolution.

To Dr. Syed Ali, This is exactly my point. Just because your particular view is that "WE" don't evolve from Homo Sapiens does not necessarily mean that you have just stated the Truth. The Quran does not SAY THAT. In fact it does seem to imply the exact opposite. Let me give you an Ayat from the Quran; Quran 3:59 Indeed, the example of Jesus in the sight of Allah is like that of Adam. He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be!” And he was! Now have YOU really pondered on this VERSE? I don't think you have. Let me point out a few facts that Allah reveals here. First let's focus on the last part. Allah AwJ says that He has created Jesus From DUST! Interesting because we Know that Jesus had a MOTHER. Why does Allah skip over this aspect and go directly to DUST when we know that there has been a series of steps in the Creation of Jesus? This is because Allah is actually saying that there are steps between The Creation of Adam and Jesus being born to Mary. It doesn't say anything about Homo Sapiens Not being Included in these steps. Then Allah says that Jesus similitude is like Adam. Now this can be understood as vice versa as well. If Jesus resembles Adam THEN Adam MUST Resemble Jesus. Since Jesus was BORN of a Woman then Adam also MUST Have been BORN of a Woman. And this can be presumed that Adam was born from Homo Sapiens. So when Allah AwJ says to the Angels that He will Create a Khalifah it does NOT mean that this Khalifah will not have a Lineage. It just means that Allah will create something different than what was there before. Otherwise how would the Angels have ASSUMED to be able to say; "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood" Where did they come up with this idea that this creation would do something LIKE That? Unless they Knew of a similar Creation that they were already familiar with. Anyway Allah KNOWS Best. But you need to be more careful when you are claiming to speak the TRUTH! Salam.

As you invite some of the most brillant and creative minds in the Muslim world, I strongly advise you if you want, to invite Omar Zaid, an American doctor convert who was also a, theosophist and a Freemason. His views on Hadiths and traditional ulama are worth to listen to.

The headline tells the absolute truth and the subject has paramount importance not only in the religion but in our everyday lives. Failing to understand the right priorities is clear derailment. When in our so called modern secular system telling us that “they” are our sheikhs or alem because of their so called rubbish degrees and when they are failing to speak the truth with wisdom and right priority then verily we are in the dark age despite the abundance of knowledge and technology. Today’s so called sheikhs and by their literal definition ‘ who doesn’t have degrees and fame they are not scholars.’ Imagine If Allah sends a Prophet today then they will say that He does have degrees and they will mock the way they mocked before all the Prophets. Similar things are happening today around us with the people of knowledge, wisdom and insight. We don’t know what to do and how to fix it. Anyway, Thanks Blogging Theology for inviting such a great speaker and getting change to know more from the persons of truth.

The line of reasoning crashes with the revelation on a very fundamental level, the sense making for an alim is very hard to interpret and translate and/or integrate into islamic thought. The lingusts are talking about picture theory of language, in that context we might say that Quran the picture and reason is a way of using language. So we the speakers of various languages and the reasoning inherit to them are bond to sense makking of the of the picture that is Quran.

Our esteemed scholar says a huge part of Islam deals with ethics but again it's after the application of the political system of Islam or applying the Islamic system comprehensively and that's when the Islamic ethics would be realised! A good example today we see how the society is stinking due to the secular liberal values and nothing else!

This is exactly where the problem lies. We just need to become more spiritual/ethical and the problems with sort themselves out. That is exactly what the enemy wants. Let us do the politics for you and you go be spiritual.

One of the best things about being Muslim is that although we have lots and lots of problems, we're constantly reminding ourselves that we need to fix things up. I believe that a new Islamic Golden Age is coming, and it's center will be from the West (the sun rising from the west).

It will definitely not be in the West, the West is stagnating a lot and it is entering it's innevitable crisis which has inflicted all civilizations. East Asian countries especially Chinese dominance is on the rise and Russia's recent military operations have greatly questioned Western dominance around the world, with even Arab gulf and other Muslim countries getting closer to China and Russia. Also your last statement, "the sun rising from the west", I hope you are not refering to that hadith, because that's an end times prophecy which tells us that after that happens, there will be no more tawbah, I've seen other people spread this idea too with that hadith and I wonder where this is coming from.
