No matter how many times I watch this video I get goosebumps and a lump in my throat, it's so good! Can you imagine being in the audience of a show like that and being confronted by this unbelievable power trio ripping their faces off! Sykes' is a master in every way. Those rhythm guitar parts are very difficult on their own, let alone singing over the top of that with a vocal line that is rhythmically different! Yet he makes it look effortless and manages to pull it off so confidently. That lovely wide slow vibrato is signature Sykes. He nails the solo and literally every part of the performance is flawless.

Love this song! Blue Murder reminds me of UFO in that I can't understand how they didn't become a huge hit?!?!?

The band came out just whenever hair metal reached its climax. If blue murder came out earlier then they would’ve been way more huge

Plus record companies censored rock bands that they simply didn’t like. It wasn’t as easy to be noticed then as it is today with all the social media platforms

I love john Sykes and he is a frikin god, completely unappreciated and talented, but I don't think a lot of his live stuff is even him playing, Carmine at 1:33 doesn't add up, 2:16 the guitar chord goes lower when he doesn't even strum, it could be a slide down, but its too strong. 4:46 during the solo john slides down but the guitar keeps going. 4:59 the guitar bends but john delays the whole time. You can also see this on his bad boy live videos.
@lifeisnice238 жыл бұрын
Whaat?! Are you kidding?! Do you really know who John Sykes is? John is one of the most tremendous live performers ever !! On this Mtv special (like the other one of Jelly Roll from the same show) ,Tony Franklin himself said that they had just pre -recorded the music a few days before the show and only the vocals is live singing! That's the way it still works in many tv shows! About the 'Bad boys' video it's obviously live because it's the same live track you can find on the cd 'Bad boy live' , there's only a problem with lips synch between vocals and images...
@k3nnethrfrog8 жыл бұрын
+dagmar977 yeah in no way am i dissing him or anything. John is my favorite guitarist at all time and hes just fucking badass, but i was just like "ah wow" when i saw this solo thing,, i know its a t.v. Performance but i never thought much of that. I mean im always like "ok no one can play like him and that's definitely his playing, but why doesn't it line up?" Also about the bad boy thing, specifically on bad boys and we all fall down. On bad boys the bends at 2:02 dont match his picking unless he isn't actually picking his guitar, and on we all fall down at 2:16 john bends his string and he slides down the guitar , when the guitar stilll bends for like a second as he's sliding. At 2:23 he bends the high note and it sounds like he picks it twice when he only picks it once. At 2:48 he stops playing the insanely fast part and bends his guitar! Before the bending starts. And at 2:54 he slides his hand down the guitar and then starts clapping, but the guitar keeps sliding down.
@k3nnethrfrog8 жыл бұрын
+dagmar977 im sorry i feel like such an asshole for doing this because john is my inspiration for everything music wise and i hate how hes so under appreciated. I actually own all of the blue murder cds and his bad boy album and ive made my own blue murder pins so dont think im not a fan haha
@k3nnethrfrog8 жыл бұрын
+dagmar977 oh crap you mentioned it! I was about to say i think the video sync is just messed up
@lifeisnice238 жыл бұрын
+k3nnethrfrog Don't worry!! I'm sure you're a big fan dude! The fact is that you can find online videos of "bad boys" and "we all fall down" with different edits : only two of them are the real live performances, the others are mixed with different audios and that's why there's the lip synch problem, they don't match in many points ..you just have to check the real ones out , they're amazing ...I wish John would release soon his new album ( can't wait anymore!! 😣 ) and go on tour so we can have new live videos! Fingers crossed 😉

Why didn't blue murder make it? Bassist dressed like boy George. Drummer looked like a pirate, guitarist had better hair than all women. All were a little iffeminant and over the top image but rocked. . Too bad. Jelly roll should have been released before valley if the kings. Valley made the band look like tolken . Plus the vocals meandered on the albums. There was alot of singing. Sykes has a good voice , but there was alot prolonged notes take the end of.jelly roll. A. Nice arrangement but could have been its own song, and it seemed to force a vocal effort on an upbeat rock song.. that was always my perception, and not hindsight. It was a good, different album.

I can't imagine the stresses they feel as I have never been there, and regardless of our income, we all have stressors, but I always see this amazing talent yet these guys tend to have such horrible reputations like so many say about working with Sykes (NO ONE is ever just complimentary) or Blackmore (NO ONE I mean no one EVER has a nice word to say about Ritchie and it seems like such a sad legacy to be hated by so many), Jeff Beck is never spoken of as a good person, Jake E Lee seems a bit off at times socially, EVH is looking like a worse person every time he opens his freakin mouth and his overt arrogance is such a turn-off, and there's so many more out there it makes me sad. I think I would want to known as a good person, not like some surgeon who they say of, "His bedside manner stinks; but he knows his stuff" and as a medical person myself I always answer that with; if your bedside manner stinks I say you DON'T know your stuff!" because HOW you treat someone else speaks the most about YOU, and how can someone go through 12-20 years of schooling and training like some surgeons and still can't figure out bedside manner matters........same with guitar players enjoying million dollar incomes because of good fans who support them.....just be grateful and treat others with SOME courtesy and respect. At the end of the day your shit does stink......so I have been told

Ice 18 Bingham: I’ve 18 Bingham: So much truth in your comment. It’s so unfortunate and sad. I’ve been working professionally in the music biz aka the circus since my early 20’s. (turning 60 this yr) I was a working member of the Blue Murder/Sykes camp early-mid 90’s. There’s obviously exceptions to this. On the flip side quite a few of these axe masters aka guitar gods are a lot more humble & thankful than you’d imagine. -DB Simmz

Nope, absolutely not live. Look (for example) at 1:33, where there's a snare fill on the track but Carmine just keeps playing the groove.
Really good musicians but the song itself just isn't a hit. Try to compare it to bad boys or still of the night it doesn't measure up
