Keep pushing forward! You'll amaze yourself with your progress if you do. Just remember to take adequate breaks so you don't burnout and think positively, even if it's small: - "heck yeah! I drew that hand so well" - "man, the color palette, I used, worked fantastically" - "I learned so much about construction while working on this piece!" Like Marc said with positive association, focus on the positives to keep your passion. Don't ignore your mistakes, because we learn from those, just don't dwell on them.

if you do not see results you should look for more information , for example information of the human body of different artists, of reference images in 3d models, of random photos of pinterest , all about what you want to improve you have to consume all that information and so you will improve faster

It could be that you're learning how to read art, i.e. what works, how things are structured etc., and it outpaces your own progress in producing it. It's totally normal and happens in every avenue of creative work. You'll always hear an author talk about how their first novels were trash because of this, because to them, their most recent work is so much better. There's a good graphic concept for this if you search for "learning art ability over time" and it can be that you're in the "art low" section at the moment. Keep at it and you'll get out of the slump and feel a lot better about it!

I've been drawing for 5 years now, and I don't see much improvement of my art lately, or better yet, I just don't feel satisfied with how it's turning out. I've been telling myself lately : "Maybe I'm not cut out for drawing." or "Maybe I'm incapable to improved from this point?" Whenever I see someone with less year of drawing than me and their art is actually miles league better than mine, well, I'm not going to lie, I just start feeling more discourage and I start to wondered where have I went wrong. But this video has highlighted a lot of problems I've been going through, and you provided some solution that may help me move on from this predicament. what motivation tips that works for me , is to have a to do list, one per month, and one per day, so this month is anatomy -> legs , so i try to practice that every time i sit to draw, and every day i write what i need and want to do, so knowing what i am going to do , help me to stay focus.

I struggle the most with staying motivated. I want to draw but I never find the time. It’s dumb as well because when ever I start drawing I don’t want to stop but it’s like that initial action of setting my self up and choosing to draw is so hard. I appreciate the advice to do smaller things, I think i tend to burn myself out by committing to larger scale artworks, they’re fun to do but they can take a lot out of me if I’m not careful. Also never leaving my art pad frustrated or unhappy makes so much sense. Really great video! Your advice for networking online and being noticed is also really helpful, and I totally agree that the motivation needs to come from within and not from external validation.

Marc I'm saving up to get your course never in my life have I encountered and art teacher with such enthusiasm, honesty and lets be honest the credentials that you do. Very early on in my art journey at 18 years old while studying at the abysmal art institute of Charleston I was told to give up that I would never make it. I made 233 deviations and never once got any encouragement except from my personal hero at the time Christopher Hart who took time out of his life to comment on a lowly art students work. Honestly it depressed me for years I stopped drawing and focused on modeling instead now I'm ready to return I'm 34 it's going to be a long journey but I will never let a smug academic ever dissuade my heart from chasing my dreams of becoming a professional artist. Thank you for all that you do man and hoping to learn more from you soon.

I notice the progress I make, and what I am learning; but at the same time and more quickly I also learn how much I still do not know. Some days, this inspires me to no end. Other days, it’s an ocean and I am a rock. And a rock couldn’t even make art if it weren’t sinking. This video happens as I am feeling quite overwhelmed. I’m not leaving the video not still feeling this way, but I am leaving this video in a better mindset. Thank you 🙏

Hey Marc! Just wanted to tell you thanks so much for these videos. Can I tell you a little about me? I don't mean this to sound arrogant or cocky, but growing up I was involved in a lot of activities like music, sports, games, filming, etc., all of which came so naturally for me. I picked up drumsticks and just started making a beat, I picked up a guitar and started piecing together chords, I picked up a basketball and started doing tricks and crossovers right away. I've been very blessed with a quick mind and motor skills, but art has been another thing entirely for me. Nothing comes naturally. My lines dont make sense, my perspective is way off, my shapes and construction are awful. I've been spoiled into thinking that art is just another thing I'd get good at quickly. I've never been so discouraged with an interest in my life, but these videos are helping me learn more than just art, it's teaching me how not to give up, how to encourage myself when I'm beating myself up, how to handle stress and overcome problems to reach a solution. So I just wanted to say thank you, not only for teaching me art (I'm enrolled in your art school by the way!), but helping me grow as a person, so I can better serve others around me. I appreciate it man, keep up the awesome work!

I heard from a recruiter that the “requirements” are the “first filter” they use. It will immediately discourage those who are not sufficiently confident in their hability to do the job. Because those who are confident in their habilities will still apply, knowing ful well that not everyone learn well at school. I have heard of some place who even have an half and half mentality. Half from academic study, half from self teaching, long distance teaching. Because it is two different mindsets that brings different ways of thinking. The only place where it could make a difference is if they hesitate between two candidates and one has academic skills and another doesn't. So, like Marc said, make sure you have a great Portfolio because in art, that will tell much more than any degree will.

What I noticed is a lot of hobby artists just need to do something that catches the eyes of the community at least once and they're set. I have seen several fan artists whose style didn't fit a company that eventually got hired by that company anyway because they drew something that gave the company free positive press. A big example would be World of Warcraft. I have seen a good portion of people I followed in their art journey get hired either as part time, full time, or just one or two pieces by Blizzard to do splash art or Hearthstone art of their WoW IP and it is usually due to a project they did that people enjoyed.

Super bons conseils ! :D J'ai l'intention de commencer à ouvrir des commissions et maintenant j'ai la certitude d'avoir une meilleure perception sur comment commencer sans stresser pour l'argent

Thank you so much for your channel and what you do here. I've been doing a bunch more art this year due to the pandemic and all that. But im really trying to dig in and get practice. Literally all I wanna do is practice and I just need to keep that mentality. Anyway thanks again. I would say my hardest struggle is putting my imagination on paper. I struggle to visualize the portrait on my own, I need a reference almost everytime. I enjoy trying to draw other people's stuff, love anime style art.
