Thank you for this. Just found you as i bought a f650gs from 02 with some minor issues. Best video on KZbin on this topic. Did the change this weekend and it work out perfectly. But i Cant seem to find any videos on the shit button for the heated grips. 😂..

Hi, great video! Just a couple things though. First, I would be nice if the factory torque spec for every bolt you re&re was included. Second, the “stopper” that fits at the bottom of the damper pipe isn’t shown nor do you mention it. Could be a show stopper for the newbie. Third, to the guys complaining that you used the damper pipe bolt instead of the drain plug to drain the forks, on this bike, that’s the only way to drain the oil with out dropping the forks completely and inverting them. Keep up the great work!

On some of the forks the top cap is held in with a clip. It is pushed down (against the spring) and the clip is removed from its groove/seating. I use a piece of 10mm dowel with a shaped end to push it down IN THE YOKE (support) after a squirt of WD40. Sometimes a slight tap is needed and needle nose pliers for the clip. I always cover the bottom damper bolt with grease after rebuilding to stop crap rusting everything up.

Excellent video, thank you very much. What is the name of the tool used to push the seal and where can I get it?

I loved the video. very ingenious to change seals without removing the bars. I hope to do the same on my GS Twin. but I have a question. The lower screws according to the manual indicate 50nm. It seems too much to me. There may be an error in the manual. If it's the right thing to do, I'll hold the axle so it doesn't spin. thank you so much

We're working on a Beemer here. Do you own a torque Wrench? And it's also obvious you unattached the fork legs by removing the attachin g bolts. Not the drain bolts. Necessary all the same. But still thankful for the play by play. Friction (or electrical tape) works great to protect seal surfaces during installation. Don't mean to be a troll but lots of people over tighten bolts without a torque wrench.

Hi, great video, happy to have found your channel. Do you have a video for changing the upper stanchions on a BMW F650GS (2000)? Many thanks.

I have been waiting in anticipation for this video! Thank you so much! Very detailed and you make it look so easy! Would the process be the same on a 2001 model? I ordered fork seals and oil for my 2001 F650GS Dakar and my Wife's Standard 2001 F650GS. Would this process be the same for those models? Keep up the good work Sir!

I would like to see a fork seal replacement video on a S1000r/rr with the electronics in the left tube. I've read the steps but am a bit unsure on fork oil levels

Thanks. Great video. The top circlip holding the aluminum spacer you remove at the end to refill the tubes, what's the second groove above the groove that the circlip was in for?
@georgethompson7635 Жыл бұрын
The plastic cap fits in that top groove

BMW Guy, what's up with fork gaskets, I'm using some PVC pipe. Seems like I should be on second circlip and the dust seal is hitting circling so I know I'm too high. Do I need an actual fork seal driver

fork drain? is that not the Damper Rod bolts. fork drain is a small bolt on the back of the fork

What do you think about the Neoprene covers ? They look like they would really keep just about anything out . The only thing I was thinking about would be moisture with no way to escape and causing the forks to rust . I’m not saying that would happen but I think this is a fairly new thing and I wonder what the long term effects would be . Here is a video that shows them and at the end it shows them while riding . kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHLWhamuf5mGgJo
