BMW N63/S63 Oil catch can location

Incredibly helpful video. Thank you for the explanation of all these parts, as it's not straightforward trying to piece this together online. I've seen several people install catch cans on the S63, but no one has done it in the section of pipe that you recommend. Interestingly, some of these folks have not caught any oil in their setup . . . which now makes sense after seeing your explanation of how the various valves in the system work. I feel like I'm on the right track now with trying to get catch cans on my M5, so huge, huge thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

With proper common sense I feel you’ve posted enough videos/info to fully redo a basic boosted engine . I understand the main thing in my opinion is the work space has to look like what you want the engine to look an perform like theoretically, I can’t begin to Thankyou enough for what your doing a lot of people don’t understand the value of your videos , they think everything is cheap and as easy as putting a sticker on parts can’t just be thrown on ect they have a process to go on and I understand that fully . Most people are mechanics they are no technician like you brotha , they want the 8hrs or so day to just go by and get out of their I can see thru your videos no matter the mood weather or setting your at your fullest you never lack it’s in your blood I can see it I really can from your old videos to now the beast has only got better your a true technician bro you got this stuff down I laugh in my head when I hear bullshit from half ass lube mechanics they don’t know a thing about an engine like you your knowledge is way more powerful than people think . People see a car show I see you in your prime their is no car show or groups without your type of skills people nowadays only show off things that money buys you have true skill and I will not let it go unnoticed your king tasos to me 🙏💪

S63 sounds more familiar haha. Tasos I must say that I am very happy that you know how this works. If you ask me it’s like a very complicated engine like ford/PSA V6 diesels like in Jaguars. Good explaination btw.

Hi Tasos , the S63tu on my M6 doesn’t have the second tube going to the intake manifold , The PCV valves connects to the valve cover the same and the other side connects to the Turbo inlet connection that’s also connected to the air intakes

I have an X5 with the N63TU1 engine and recently went from using 1 qt of oil every 1500 miles to 1 qt every 500 miles. I suspect one or both of the PCV valves are bad as there are no visible oil leaks on the car. I understand where to install the catch can between the manifold and the rectangular PCV valve, however you noted in your video that the PCV and the hose from the manifold both contain check valves. If mine are already bad, will I need to replace the PCV setup first as well as installing a catch can? I was planning on pulling it off and cleaning it with some carb cleaner first to see if that helps but I think ultimately adding the catch can would be a good move.

Not sure you have done this mod yet but yes, you would need to replace the pvc system first then add the catch can.

Taso I have question I just did my valve seals on 2013 550i with 70k miles I replace oil separator under valve cover with original bmw part. My PCV valves are almost new. I notice I have crazy amount negative pressure in my engine. Other day I try opening oil fill cap I couldn’t take it off there was that much suction from engine ? What can it be wrong here should I start looking at my vacuum pump?

@@gdrex4030 I did replace PCV on bank 1 and 2 I’m still getting some negative pressure but I talk to mechanic he said it’s was fine you have to have some negative pressure.

If you didn't install original bmw pcv valves and went with the aftermarkets that would expalin the negative pressure. The one way valve on the original also has a breather hole directly below the one way valve and the after market part sold on ebay and amazon is missing this.

@@gdrex4030 I talk to BMW master tech negative pressure is ok. In my case first when I start car I taught it was not normal but I guess it’s fine on modern Engine. PCV is BMW original parts. I don’t buy cheep pars when it comes to important components. Thanks anyway 👍🏻

That oil ends up helping tho. Dfi engines without oil from the breather will have valve failures as there will be 0 type of lubrification, as neither fuel or oil will be touching it. Porsche latest dfi engines actually angled the injectors to spray the valves and it works but most don't.
