Asephe he had to hurry up though, because u never know how long this president will last in office ^^ Normally Woodward works methodic, with great patience going into details, but I bet he had quite the rush by his standards to get it done by now ^^ Because I believe this WH is pretty insanely complex compared to previous admins and that takes much research I would imagine

Which is exactly why it's his mission to discredit ALL journalists as liars. "Trust no one, especially when they speak against me". It pisses me off to no end that people wanted Trump to run because "it would be 'funny'." This isn't funny and it never was.

Please excuse my following question, I am from the other side of the pond: What is your definition of an American hero? I heard that they say it about McCain. He risked his life for the USA, so I can understand that. But Woodward didn't or am I wrong?! The reason why I am asking is, I really don't know the definition. And before I have read your comments, thought I would.

Sure, Woodward is not going to jeopardize his life's work or career as a journalist/author by fabricating things. He's written 19 books and won 2 Pulitzer Prizes. He isn't silly enough to risk his credibility on anyone, least of all Trump. He wants to write about the 46th, 47th, 48th and maybe even the 50th President if he's capable. His integrity is the most precious thing to him. Nobody wants to buy a book from a known liar or fabricator. Woodward knows this.

Agreed! While I think that John Oliver is great, his show relies a lot on the writing. Colbert's show has great writers too, but I feel like Colbert himself has to do a lot more heavy lifting (you can't plan ahead for everything that happens in the interviews, etc.). No offense to John Oliver at all, but he has a lot less "interaction" in his role as host that's reading from a teleprompter for 20-something minutes.

as he says, it has to do with time, which is a very precious resource for journalists. He just has the freaking resources to take his time and do the ground work and actually get the freaking obscure paper from the 80s via mail by a university library from new mexico and read it beforehand a interview. He probably could not do that if the would not be freaking Bob Woodward, who probably gets all the money upfront for a book by his publisher that he asks for and then some. "Oh you need 200.000 Dollar so you can hire research assistants for 10 months? No problem, there you go." Try that when your employer is a newspaper. Or even try that with a big freaking publisher if you yourself are anything but Bob Woodward, a former US President or maybe Stephen King.

@Donna Willams haven't read it yet, but I know about it - it's what I am talking about. The book was written in the 70s -thats literally prehistoric times when it comes to news. Back then, there were what? 3 national news cycles a week? It's no coincidence that "the best and the bravest"also came out back then. Now it's 2 newscycles a day while subscribership numbers and therefore budgets are a fraction of what they got back than - and TV "news" without any actual reporting cashes in on it by secondhand reporting on every actual story written by actual reporters and making big bucks. You just can't compare it. Even today there are a lot of reporters who actually write well researched books, once they got the kind of mojo you need to get the funding for something like that. Take Farrow's war on peace.

Huhu Lili, you may rightly consider Fox, CNN and ABC as Mainstream Media *_technically,_* but that does not make them journalists. My opinion about most corporate or sponsored organizations is that they physically can't be un-biased, and that takes the journalism out of it. They pander to the money and the "news" personalities are concerned only with their fame, sex appeal, popularity and personal power.

S P The genius part was he knew to release that tape first, where it showed Trump acknowledging his respect for Woodward & that he tried to speak with Trump, but was repeatedly denied. It cut the legs right out from under him from the get go, so when Trump trash talked him, we already heard him kissing up to Woodward. And it exposed Trump’s lies about the denied meeting, that he actually did know about the attempts to meet, but did nothing to make it happen

God I'm exhausted just trying to keep up with everything thats going on in America. I live in Holland and every night I record Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon, followed by New Day, then there's Jake Rapper, Trevor Noah, Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers. A UK comedian said "how come we suddenly know who all these people are? We should know the President, the Vice-president and maybe the Secretary of State. And that's it." Now because of the orange one we know who EVERYBODY is, and we can't stop watching the horror show.😂😂

You think it's exhausting for you, I live in a fucken "Red" state. You should see the local political ads that are running for the November mid-terms. It's a shitshow! Here's one moderate Republican who hopes the Dems make some inroads after the elections.

We can name most of the crooks already. We are just waiting for all the stuff to prove it. Problem is, more proof keeps falling out of their crooked mouths. No one can keep up with the garbage thst comes out day by day. It is a gruesome, soggy, mixed-up mess. We wait for Mueller's team to sift through the mess, and as we wait, we pray for all of us, not just America. This mess affects the entire world.

Teri Henri It must be really hard to be a moderate Republican right now, and your Senators have lost their backbones. I don't know... there's a difference between playing to inflated self-worth, and valuing a person. Woodward seems to have mastered something I was taught in ministry and in sales: when you value the person in front of you, help them reach their goal, and do so in a genuine way out of concern for them, they will help you too.
