"Carpe Diem": Seize the Day. We all know this phrase but we don't all do it. If we DID, it would only help us, we probably all know that. And for those of us who try our best to seize the day but still find great swaths of time slipping through our fingers with nothing to show for it but a new show in our Netflix queue and one less Hot Pocket in the freezer, Bobby has got a tip for you. SIX tips, actually, that he uses personally to manage the 1,001 things he has to do every day and keep himself efficient, on track, and still doing good work. Try them for just a week and see if they help you!
Notes:
How I get so much stuff done
1. Be aware of time spent in between tasks
2. Know your tasks for tomorrow

It's so easy to beat yourself up over spending your time badly instead of finding the ways to coax yourself away from what keeps you from spending it better. Recently I read Chris Bailey's Hyperfocus, and I started paying more attention to when my mind begged to switch tasks in the middle of something, or how I was setting myself up to distract myself. I've only made so much progress, and I recently found myself just kind of binge-distracting myself, but I do notice a difference, and the timing was perfect for hearing your recent advice about noticing the time in between tasks, or the time it takes you to get starte

hey, I've had problems with this recently so I feel you. one thing that really helped me was the idea of non-zero days (an idea that started on reddit, there's a really inspiring thread you can find about it). basically the idea is that if you try to do everything all at once, you're just gonna exhaust yourself and be demotivated. but if you focus on getting even just one thing done - even as small as making your bed - it will create a chain reaction of productivity. and remember to celebrate every little thing you do! everything helps. and if you end up having a zero day anyway? forgive yourself. and promise to do better the next day. as for a wandering mind, i have been meditating recently and it's been incredibly helpful and calms my anxiety. try just doing a five minute meditation to start (i like using guided meditations, it gives me something to focus on). it can be difficult to concentrate at first, and you might get frustrated with yourself, but forgive yourself and keep at it. i hope this helps!

All of the issues you brought up stem from the same place. It's the lack of feeling accomplishment. You have to see things through. Try breaking down tasks into bite size pieces that you can complete. Does not matter how small as long as you complete it. This will create an association with your brain and the feeling of completing tasks. The feeling of accomplishment. When your brain receives that hit of dopamine from completing a task it will want to repeat it. I speak from experience. I've been there before, it sucks. I wish you the best friend. Keep drawing

Thanks for sharing! When you explained about how we waste time on social networks, on things like checking likes, it made me to remember something a doctor told me we do wrong. Every hour of working on your computer it's healthy to walk away from the screen for a few minutes, to rest your eyes, but what we usually do it's to walk away from the computer and be with the cellphone, so we really never rest.

Great tips! I will start reading those books and applying some of the tips you mentioned in this video, especially the second one to plan ahead for the next day. One extra thing that has helped me a lot (especially since becoming a father) is to wake up earlier every morning (and go to bet earlier as well). I can easily gain 2 more hours of peaceful work a day by just waking up two hours earlier. And I normally find that these 2 hours are the most productive ones that I have during the entire day.

1. I need breaks between tasks or I'm very tired and slow. But my breaks are pretty much always longer than they were supposed to be. 2. I still need to spend time planning it, so, not really a big difference for me, but I guess planning a day earlier works well for many people. 3. I like it, but I spent tons of time learning diffrent ways of organizing, most of which didn't really work. At least not until i started to mix them together. 4. And how can I stop being stressed all the time? 5. This sounds interesting 6. This also I think those advices aren't bad but I wouldn't call them simple tips. It's not simple to stop stress or wasting time. Guess I'm kind of bitter about seeing again almost the same advices as ever, that don't really work for me.

Thanks for making this video! And for listing the books you read. I think investing time on things that will help me in the future is one of the hardest things for me, EVERYTHING has that "URGENT" stamp on and its hard to take a moment to think beyond that. Also I can't help but to comment this but I'm coming from a really supportive place when I say : Number five should be "Be aware of how you're spending your time". I know it doesn't change the meaning or the importance of the words, but as non native English speaker I really appreciate when people point at my writing errors.

About the part of practicing drawing quicker than the brain can process it, I'd like to share something that I learned from Jim Kwik. In his Super Reading course, we have a speed drill exercise that works wonder, it's called 4-3-2-1 technique. First, we place down a marker in a new book, then read for 4 minutes at the speed that we can actually comprehend things. Place another marker. Then, return to the first marker, and make a timer of 3 minutes and read to the second marker before 3 minutes ends. Then, read the same session, marker to marker, with a timer of 2 minutes. Finally, read this session with a timer of 1 minute. It is the same idea as practicing drawing too fast for the brain to handle. You are pushing the limit of your brain and even though the drawings may not come out as good, or the reading might not even be considered reading anymore, the brain gets trained to process at a much faster rate. Then when you return to normal way of drawing/reading, the brain handles what used to be difficult/full capacity as super easy. :D

Drawing lots of skeletal anatomy, bugs under my portable microscope. The more I practice doing these things, I noticed that I have become faster in completing them. Changing how I draw these subjects helps too (using coloured pencils for the general skeletal shape, filling in details with graphite). A skeleton is complex and intricate, but after a while the shapes can be easily broken down and a pattern can be recognized, nature is full of patterns. It's important to sit down and finish a drawing that is started, otherwise it will sit for days, months, years...

Thank you :) *goes to amazon to search for the books* I am trying to decide if moving to a full time job will be good for me, and still be able to run my YT and start an Etsy. I'm just scared about time management - and the uncertainty of it all is stressing me out big time. I am currently part time and work on videos / commissions in my time off. But honestly, I struggle as it is to fit it all in - but the financial security of a full time job is so alluring... I'm not ready for full freelance (too scared of not meeting mortgage repayments), though it is the absolute dream

Bobby Chiu Thank you N 😊 I just feel like, I have worked for years to get the courage to get to how far I am, and I am incredibly determined to not stop. But I do think some changes are due and needed to help keep everything in order and balanced 💕 Thank you for replying :) x

The way to get lots done is to have the mature, nurturing parents as a child. Trauma and the neural pruning that happens in our brains as children are what effect our productivity and liveliness. You can’t change that with willpower.

Becoming self aware and remaining self aware through out the day can have such a difference in itself, and only grows as the other tips build on. Think to yourself. You only have so much time in the day, in your life. Do you want that time to slip away? Do you want to risk not reaching your end goals in life? Don't let any of this time slip away.

Notes: 1. Before you finish task 1, already be thinking about task 2 2. Have today planned night before 3. Constantly learn for the future - productivity tips and career tips & tools for your industry (1 hour a day) 4. Only worry about what you can control. Let go of things out of my control 5. Doing things with concentration (& quicker on purpose) 6. Only check things when they need to be checked 7. When you are relaxing, relax

I tend to think too much what my task is for tomorrow, even when drawing, and that feels so annoying beacuse I can't stop this feeling...
