Oatmeal porridge (100g oats, 3.5% fat milk 200g) with tsp of honey or 50g of jam. Which converts roughly to 650KCal. Followed by cappuccino and one espresso additionally. So not that much for 100km. Normally take a glucose gel and stop on the middle for a pastry with another coffee.

4-5 sausages in the morning and I'm ready to go for 100km ride.

The evening before, its a good bowl of pasta and chicken. The morning of the ride, it's either granola and yoghurt or porridge.

I eat normally, but 30mins before a ride, I'll gulp down a coffee and sprite, separately of course! Food and rest stops are plentiful here, so there is no real need to bring food on the bike, just stop and eat.

As a bodybuilder myself, even tho just amateur and not on the dose of Steroids an Open Level Bodybuilder is on, eating 5000-8000 Calories in carbs is so much easier than consuming it overall and getting 300-500g of Protein in as well. Because protein is keeping you so damn full that it becomes hard to eat at some point.

Type 1 diabetic here. Fueling starts the night before with a high carb meal. Breakfast is 100g porridge or 4 weetabix On the bike snack every 20-30 minutes on a few jelly babies or cereal bar depending on efforts and 2 bottles of drink on bike. 1 bottle with 120g of white sugar mixed with squash and the other bottle normal squash. As you can see I consume a lot of carbs as a T1D but on the bike it’s all fuel. I carry my injection with me just in case it creeps up a little but most of the time on a 120km ride the bloods stay just where I need them to be to be energized
@paulgrimshaw83345 ай бұрын
@@thediabeticcyclist4936 You probably know a great deal more about what your body is doing, where your blood sugar levels are, and what your A1C is, and how much fuel you actually need more than anyone with a fully functional pancreas. GCI should do a series of segments on nutrition, ending with a sports nutritionist. Look at what normies, T1, T2, hypoglycaemics etc. need to prepare, ride, and recover.

Maybe the big diesels who are pulling the peloton along nearly all day might need 8000kcal a day but the sub 60kg GC guys definitely don't! During a 5hr stage, they might burn 3000kcal and their BMR would be around 1500kcal so they only need 4500kcal for the day. If it's a flat sprinters day, the GC guys are literally coasting all day so probably only need 3000kcal on those days. Remember they're basically laying down when they're not on the bike.
