My husband has Alzheimer's and wanted to use Bondic to fix a crack in our RV water tank, cuz their website says you can. He used Bondic on something last year but can't remember what it was, so we don't know if it worked. I found your review, we both got a great laugh and tossed our little silver "James Bond" box. Thanks for the light hearted start to our morning. I subscribed so we can be educated on other gadgets and also because laughter is such an important part of life😉

This is not really a "glue", but a clear plastic filler that does not really inherently bond to anything. I tried using it as illustrated on the package to repair a wire's insulator sheath, and basically it makes nice clear boogers that fall off of the vinyl sheathing when used. For repairing cups, etc., the Loctite Super Glue Gel works best. I might use it to make tiny lenses, etc., for a scale model, maybe help with clear parts, but that is about it.

Araldite is the boss but it needs to harden a long time and be kept in place, UV glue is great for that. It doesn't harden interior faces anyway, but it is useful to hold the outside while your araldite sets interior faces. Like a tack weld you can scrape off later if you want.

I've used Bondic on several items with great success, Maui Jim sunglass frames, going on almost two years, reading glass frames, and oddly, the door to the refer crisper a $250.00 cost to replace. Bonic repaired for over two years.

I'm looking for something to repair my quartz counters. It's about a nickle size chip missing. I do have more material not sure if I would be able to get an exact cut out but maybe something to just fill in the gap and can harden as much as the quartz. Any recommendations?

I purchased this before your review. I tried to glue many things including glasses and none of it held. The only thing I did repair was the frayed end of cloth wire. I never laughed so hard watching this. Super glue was actually good for adhering my oil filter clamp to my oil filter so I could use a ratchet to remove it.

You would think not, although it is translucent, so perhaps some light does reach the smallest of crannies. Still, it doesn't actually stick things together, so it's a slightly moot point.

I use a uv glue, looks the same. Get it off ebay, about $4 AU. With a bit of fibre glass great for finger nails for guitar playing.

I bought this stuff as a new dad noticing how many toys my kids were breaking. I used it to replace a broken tooth on a plastic gear that broke from my son ripping the door open on a toy with a foot pedal that was meant to open the door. It was the perfect tool for the job and that fix has held up 3 years later, and we passed the toy on to a friend with young kids. It is not a glue, but when it is the right tool for the job, I have found no substitute.

Nice review. It’s probably acrylic glue in it. For that price I already found 20 times cheaper for 100ml glue. Ring could have work, but such huge lever on glasses? It would never hoId. I wonder what glues or similar chemicals has my wife to make finger nails. She cures it at the end with uv light, hmm worth a closer look.

Great presentation - very funny, loved it😄😄👍. "....I'm sticking with glue..." Pun intended or not?🤔🤔😄😄 I used the UV light for between 10 and 60 seconds. I think that this - UV dentistry - two part 'not glue' will replace two part epoxy in some cases and avoid the chore of using Cyano with baking soda as a filler (for model making). But if Eg you're a model maker it's still a case of horses for courses and other specific glues will still be required for neat work. It might be a good standby glue for the home user though, for specific uses. I use it in model making to speed up certain jobs and to affix awkward dissimilar materials. Is it better than the cheaper versions? I don't yet know. I believe, don't quote me, that this brand might be the same strength as dental UV two part glues - but you seem to have had a bad time of it with this product. To me it seems to flow better than cheaper brands and is strong (where I have tried it), is it as strong as the cheaper brands of UV two part glues? No idea, worth a comparison test?🤔🤔👍😊 Also I wouldn't want to affix a paving slab to a wall and stand on it ala the hype!😳😲🙄🤡🌏🇨🇳🤬 BTW I've tested it on nickel silver and a soapy, PVC type plastic whereby I couldn't abrade the surfaces and it seems to have worked okay thus far🤞🤞✌️👍😊

@@arlo.guthrie I agree, I've tested it on various in the last two days and it's not as strong as the dental bond version. It's good for making model plastic light lenses. Such a wasted opportunity. I'm guessing it's another CCP hyped product that doesn't do what it says on the tin. If the real stuff were for sale? That would be a revolution 👍✌️😊

The problem with "Bondic" and other UV resins is they don't cure if the resin is blocked from light. In other words, if you're trying to attach two parts, any resin that isn't caught by UV light, is not going to cure. So what will happen is the outer part of what you're trying to connect will cure but the inside part of what you're trying to cure with the UV light is not going to cure because no UV light has reached it. These resins are good for filling gaps but for "gluing," they suck, unless the two parts are see through.

Plonker?! That's a new one for me. I shall add it to my notebook. Right behind my list of Edd China's and Mike Brewer's many interjectional adjectives. Thanks for teaching me some proper English! I found this video by looking for an alternative to Loctite Super Glue, my good old friend that will glue together almost anything, including my fingers, or just ruin my desk, and my day! So for the first time in many years, I decided to look for an alternative, just to see what else can be used. I like to fix things. But I don't often have a need to use glue. As a result, I don't know much about the different kinds of glue. But neither do the good people that sell it, unfortunately. So I had to do a bit of research on my own. I recently took apart the handle of my mom's rather cheap but colorful, compact umbrella. It's one of those with automatic opening. I never use those. I always buy a regular sized, black Totes, with manual opening. Made in UK I believe! But my mom likes this one so much, mostly for its colorful canopy I think. The reason I took apart the handle was to get the sticky rubber coating off of it. The handle is shaped like a gear shifter on an older model BMW M3 with manual transmission (what else), with three pieces of plastic oblongs placed around the handle for decoration. I used IPA to get the coating off, but it remained sticky. Even though color started to come off! These plastic details on the sides. The plastic was actually white, but it was color sprayed purple. The base of the handle was black plastic, so it didn't lose color. So I had to take it all apart and do a proper job. "If something is worth doing, it's worth doing right." So it was purple on black, with rubber coating. Now it's white on black, no coating and it looks and feels much better. It's like new again. These plastic pieces click onto the base, but there was some yucky gunk (like a cheap glue) underneath each piece that was used as a filler I suppose, and to prevent rattling sounds by preventing them from moving around. So after cleaning it all off, including the paint... and after some final polishing, I wanted to add some glue back in, just for good measure. I decided to try a different kind of glue, something with a weaker bond, less permanency in case I need to repeat the process. Something with a longer curing time so I can reset the pieces as needed, and something that doesn't create fumes and doesn't irritate my eyes and nose when used in large amounts. I looked at epoxy glues, but I ended up buying a pack of 2 with Loctite "Repair Extreme" and another bottle of my favorite Super Glue. So I used Repair Extreme for the first time and it worked very well. It's suitable for plastics and rubber, among other things, and it works well when you have a bit of a gap between the pieces you're trying to glue together. It fills in the uneven contours of the gap nicely. It's a bit thick gel and it cures fairly quickly, but gives you plenty of time to set the pieces right. I don't know for sure how strong the bond is. I used it mainly as a filler but it's an actual glue. But it seems to be very strong as far as I could tell. It's not an epoxy, so there is no need for an activator, so there is no need to use an ice cream stick to mix and mess with two chemical substances. I can recommend Repair Extreme for work on plastics. They also have one called Power Glue if the bond needs to be more flexible. Whoever came up with this idea of rubber coating umbrella handles should have both his left palm and his right palm glued with Super Glue for punishment... to a lamp-post... on a rainy Friday night! That should teach them. Thanks for this helpful and entertaining review! Also, thank you for educating me on UHU! I had no idea! I have an old tube of that stuff that's nearly empty. It lasted for like two decades. It feels like I have had it forever. I should probably get rid of it. I never really used it. How empty it is, is a testimony to how often it has disappointed me. It doesn't glue well and it has that awful smell. But I never thought that people actually sit and sniff this stuff!? Or used to do so, back in the olden days at least. Is this how the term glue sniffer came to be? Interesting and informative! The funny thing is, it doesn't say "UHU" on the one I have, but it's made by the same company. We have a locally branded version of this with a red donkey on it! I can finally understand why.

Isn't it like anything, all in the preparation? Of course, it won't adhere to smooth surfaces, neither will any glue, not long term anyway. I've never used the stuff but plenty of people have, and they claim it's all in the preparation, which makes sense. Clean, Clean, CLEAN the surfaces then Roughen up the smooth surfaces so the bonding agent has something to grip to.

I cleaned the surfaces and then roughened them with sandpaper. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was the Bondic itself sheered with very little force applied. It just isn’t strong enough.

It's hard to explain while one user had great results and the other has poor results. Perhaps your results were correct and the stuff just isn't what they claim to be. Love the dry humour. I shelled out 25 quid for Bondic to repair some car trim (automotive hard plastic). I have to say that my experience was less than enthralling. The main problem is when you are trying to bond two pieces together the Bondic glue is hidden in the join and therefore hidden from the UV light and so the glue does not cure. All and all I'm not that impressed by this product.

Super glue can be used to bond like this product but instead of using uv light you sprinkle baking soda over the glue which reacts and hardens in seconds.

@@arlo.guthrie - Having used the mix on a number of occasions, the baking soda reacts with the glue to make it a much stronger bond. The only downside, is it shortens the time the bond sets. So strong and tough, try drilling the mix. You will fail! An even stronger bond can be achieved by mixing graphite powder with super glue.

This stuff shouldn't be marketed as an adhesive. It doesn't work great for that. I do however love this product. I use it as a gap filling medium on plastic parts or as a "clamp" of sorts to bond items together while a more specialty glue dries between 2 parts.

There are countless practical and creative uses for this product and unfortunately Gadget Man mentions none of them … but he does demonstrate a point / it’s not a glue and it won’t fully cure in any application where U/V cannot penetrate. Bondic’s own video is equally pedestrian, they don’t have clue (!) either as to how to demonstrate the potential of U/V cured polymers (?). Once cured one can sand it and paint it, drill holes in it etc. great for hobbyists, kit bashers, scratch builders and other creative types.

I've used this product for more than a year as per the instructions and never had a failure. Your sarcasm and half assed "attempt" to use the product intentionally trying to make it fail by not following the instructions correctly just shows you had made up your mind not to trust it and to try and make it fail so it lived down to your expectations has just made me believe in you less, not the product.

Why on earth do you think I would intentionally make it fail? I wanted nothing of the sort. I wanted it to work. I followed the instructions to the letter (sanding the edges, building up layers of the stuff etc) and it simply does not work. I tried using it on a numb of repairs, some suggested by the manufacturer (such as glasses), but no, it was utterly useless in every case.

@@arlo.guthrie Did you do more than what you demonstrated? Because what you did wasn't nearly enough to make it work. Of course it will break if you barely put any on. You have to do the center, then each side, then all the way around a couple of times and then sand it back down a little if you want. The cars they tow are done with a huge pro kit that comes with a fiber optics glass lens and shielding for your eyes. I'll be the first to admit they gild the lily a LOT on the commercials, but the product works exactly like it says it will if you use enough product and light. Did you know this is the same stuff they've been using at the dentist to fix teeth for decades now? Maybe you haven't had that type of work done, where they put a light into your mouth for a few seconds. I apologize if you didn't intend on sounding sarcastic, but WOW did you come off as someone doing this as a joke. If you try again a little more carefully you will probably succeed; but I agree they make it sound like it should just magically work. It takes more effort than that.

@@saltywench I used plenty of it. In the middle and all the way round. A couple of times. It didn’t work. In the case of the both the glasses, and the ring, the Bondic itself sheered with hardly any force applied. I was being sarcastic, because the product doesn’t work. I did intend to sound sarcastic. Yes, I know it is used in dentistry. That doesnt make it an effective glue.

@@arlo.guthrie As the package says, It's not a glue. Can't get much clearer than that. Why you are trying to judge it against glues, I don't know. But If you go into the demonstration trying to make it break, of course it will break. I'm sure I could make mine fail too, but the point isn't to make it fail. How long would your items had lasted if you hadn't deliberately tried to break them again? Do you normally treat your glasses and rings that way? If you had just used them as normal you may have been satisfied. I don't know why it didn't work for you enough, it works for me just fine. But I accept your sincerity and apologize for having an issue with your account, clearly for whatever reason you feel you couldn't get it to work effectively enough against intentional destruction.

@@saltywench I didn't set out to make it fail. I wanted it to work. When I snapped the glasses, it took hardly any pressure at all. Likewise the ring. It was very obvious that neither of them would have held in normal use. Why do I judge it against a glue? Well, on the Bondic website, it says it's: "LED-activated adhesive bond". Glue and adhesive are synonyms. Also, one of the definitions of the word 'glue' is something which sticks two things together. And lastly, the company claims the product is 50* stronger than, er, another glue. So however much the company wants to say it is not a glue, that is exactly what it is sold as. But let's not get hung up on semantics. This stuff just doesn't stick things together very strongly.

Dentists use it all the time. If it didn’t work they wouldn’t use it. What is the difference? Whatever can we get the medical grade stuff.
