This is a GREAT song. I've heard many versions, but they are all good because it is a GREAT song. And so true to life. God bless all the good bartenders out there that take care of us when we need it.

Yes, a big honor to James Taylor that George Jones covered Bartender, but Taylor wrote it.

This song is so meaningful.. true love always try her level best to keep her loved one from going astray.. she gives her every effort to keep her love in safe place.. but sometime the other one could not understand her love and heart.. the person takes as a game and if she is a child of God she keep her prayer to the God who is ruller of earth.. who gives and can take also to teach us lifelong lesson and keep all of us in His shadow. Sometime due yto anger or other ..we can lost every happiness in life .

I have seen and heard Ms. Raitt in Nashville (at the new opry), in Gainesville, in Jacksonville WITH MY CHILDREN once, and had a backstage pass WITH LANCE at the Fairgrounds in Jacksonville, and one other place I cannot remember where it was. Bonnie Raitt is to women guitar players what Leon Russell was to piano players. I probably saw her again but I'm not sure if it was really her or a lady that looked exactly like her. I can't remember. We sent her a musical text before Lance passed away. Bonnie Raitt was a definite fave of mine and Lance also.

Pretty nice job by Bonnie. Thanks to James Taylor for writing it for George Jones. "Tailor-made" for ol' George. Vince Gill does a superlative job on it, too. Lots of great interpretations on this great story-song. If current Nashville writers would buckle down and tell "real" stories instead of the disposable "weekend/ pickup truck /down by the river/drinking beers" songs, the song might be worth singing. That stuff should be written on toilet paper.

In my opinion, they both nail it. What is awesome about these two women is, the key change after the lead break. I don't think the original by Taylor does that. It's subtle, but makes it "real blues". (err... Bluesy Country?)
