What always intrigues me about people who claim that fetuses “are a human life…they can feel pain”, somehow forget that a pregnant person is a human life, that can feel pain, and could potentially die from a pregnancy. I want to know why they diminish the life of the pregnant person.

@@tph2010 good point. These kinds of people always worry about the "unborn," but don't give actual babies and children a second thought. It's always "put it up for adoption" (but they won't adopt) or "you dared to have sex, so now you have to live with the consequences." But what about the real children that will grow up in terrible situations (poor, hungry, unwanted, abused, shunned, etc) because you think sex is a sin that should be punished, to hell with the collateral damage to the child. I'm sorry you went through that, but so glad that you came out the other side. As a former manager with Child Protective Services, I know that not all children survive. Some parents best their children, kick them, lock them in closets or dark basement, rape them, and otherwise torture them, burn them, down them, stab them, and shoot them. Very often the most horrific abuse and neglect happens with parents who didn't ever want to have children in the first place. The new restrictive abortion laws mean they're will be far more women dying from pregnancy complications like ectopic pregnancies (50,000 every year in the US), more pregnant women who are killed by their husbands or intimate partners (now the leading cause of death for pregnant women in the US), far more miserable believed and abused children, and eventually far more criminal teenagers and young adults. Nobody should be surprised when the US crime rate starts to shoot up in about 15 years.

I love how at one point she’s talking about how hard her and her husband tried to have a kid, so much so that they looked into adoption. Follows that with saying that adoption was too difficult to go through, admitting that adoption isn’t a great solution. She follows up 5 minutes later saying “if you don’t want the baby then have it adopted!” Does she not see the irony there? That’s my biggest issue with the most common prolife argument of “just put them for adoption”. They don’t realize adoption isn’t always a good thing and that’s if the kid ever is adopted. If all kids got adopted it would be a better option but that’s just not the case. They seem to think that once the kids in an adoption center they can wipe their hands clean. They don’t care about the kid at all. They want to force their view upon others.

Bonnie needs to understand that all forms of birth control have a 3% failure rate. So that is a lot of unplanned pregnancies. And she can not compare her success with birth control to other women because they might be much more fertile. Plus married women who already have children, get abortions, too. They are being responsible if they know they can not afford another child for either financial or psychological reasons ( like if one of their other children is seriously ill or if one of the parents are).

@yarnpower She also thinks that every woman knows she's pregnant in the first month, by her missed period, but some women continue to bleed during pregnancy, and some women on the pill have irregular periods or none at all, so it's possible to *not* know one is pregnant that early.
@greeneyedlady5580
@greeneyedlady5580 Жыл бұрын
@@YY4Me133 My mother, back in the days before the pill, was so stressed when she left her very isolated family farm to go to the city to go to college, that she didn't have a period for an entire year. It's not uncommon for women who are very stressed, or very athletic, to have very erratic periods. Other women normally have irregular periods. A six week abortion ban means that by the time a woman's period is 2 weeks late (if she has regular periods 4 weeks apart), she's already too late to get a period. A woman would have to take a pregnancy test just about 3 days after her period should have begun, in order to find an abortion provider and get a very rapid procedure scheduled. That's just not realistic. A six week abortion ban is just that: a BAN on abortion.

In some ways, she seems like she might be close to breaking through. It would just take deconstructing some of the walls that prevent her from seeing the reasons why these people might need an abortion even if everything they did was right. The part that got me most, is that she is okay with it for rape but not when it’s originally consensual because “it’s murder”. - Getting an abortion isn't as easy as she makes out and it's only getting harder. - Essentially nobody takes abortion lightly. Yes, there are some videos of weirdos joking about it and I've even met a couple of people who have had multiple abortions and still have reckless sex, but they're far from the norm. It's serious and it often weighs on those who have them til the day they die even though it shouldn't. She's making out like people just don't take precautions that are supposedly readily available and use abortions as birth control which just doesn't even deserve mentioning it happens so rarely by such a small population that it's insane to hold others accountable for it. - Adoption is difficult for good reason. As horrible as it is to see people who want kids unable to get them, kids who need homes and families unable to go to them, and as bad as the conditions can be in group homes and the foster care circuit, we don't wanna see a world where adoption doesn't come with mad hoops to jump through. It would be a very ugly one. Idk what incoherent worldview Bonnie is living in where it's murder if you just had sex for fun but it is if someone was assaulted it's perfectly fine, but it's either murder or it's not, the means are irrelevant. I'm glad the Bonnie's of the world have all these opportunities and resources but many do not and that number is rapidly growing.

Really weird flex seeing religious people say something is murder, murder is wrong, but also murder is okay *sometimes.* I wonder where else they think "murder is okay sometimes"? Abortion is *not* murder, its a medical procedure. "don't you think it (fetus) would feel pain?" Sure?........... Do they not think gestation and birth causes pain, and/or could kill someone?? Why is the pain of an unborn fetal organism, depending on someone else's organs, more valid than the pain of the person who's organs its hosting who already exist as a human being? A fetus isn't a human being. It is *potential* human life.

Adding, this caller was extremely judgemental. There are women who *cannot* take birth control, who are allergic to it, who's body does not process it correctly, etx. There are a myriad of reasons a woman might not be on/might not *want* to be on birth control. For someone spouting so hard about birth control, you'd think this person would understand the side effects and the fact that people exist who medically *cannot* take or use birth control for health reasons or contraindications. Not only that, but there are plenty of women who simply do not like the side effects of bc (depression, anxiety, low libido, weight gain) and do not want to take it for that reason. That is valid. They should still be allowed to get an abortion if they become pregnant and no longer wish to be pregnant. The privilege of this caller is so stinky. Stinky poopy doody. Yes, you still need a medical prescription for birth control and *to this day* it can be increasingly difficult to get a hold of for oppressed people in certain areas, IN THE USA. Many women are allergic to OTC spermicide and sponges/vaginal blockers AND birth control types. They exist. Abortion is not "birth control" its termination of a pregnancy. Plan B is a contraceptive, NOT an abortion pill. Plan B OTC (generic) is close to $40-50 after tax last time I checked. Not only that, but Plan B itself is only effective up to 150lbs, so some women have to buy multiple tablets. I don't give a fricc what this lady thinks about the 60s. "oh it was so hard to get birth control, now its soooo easy" sure, when you're privileged, don't have an issue with the horrible side effects and are not allergic to its contents, or contraindicated because of other necessary medication they have to take, AND can afford it or have it covered by ins. My depression was at it's worst when I was on birth control tablets. I am currently on an alternative that works for me and doesn't give me these issues. It took close to 10 years to not only get a hold of an alternative, but to have my insurance cover it. If my insurance did not cover it, I would not have it.

As I see it, it’s about bodily autonomy . It’s not logical to say it’s wrong to “kill a baby” unless it’s rape or incest….then the baby is no longer innocent.

One of the points they could have brought up IF they read up more on this issue is that she has her scientific facts wrong. Thus, her passion is misplaced. The brain of the fetus is NOT fully developed at 3 months, hence it cannot feel pain. Additionally, the nervous system has yet to fully form. Physically attacking it would be like stabbing a leg of a person in a wheelchair. The body will react by bleeding but the signal of pain is non-existent, there is no brain to process it YET. The fetus will have to wait around the 5 month mark, right at the beginning, that period right at the end of the 4th month/beginning of the 5th month, for enough development to occur that one can say conclusively that the fetus can feel pain. I really really hate when the anti-choice/anti-women side misquote and misinterpret science to support their false narratives. Science is NOT on their side.

Personally, I think that bringing more children into the world is stupid. We are already too many, and there are way too many children waiting for adoption. You want a child? Adopt one. If you don't have the financial stability to adopt a child, you shouldn't have one even by natural means. Before the existence of an actual central nervous system, the fetus isn't a human. If you believe in souls, there's nothing in the human body except for the brain that a soul can attach itself to, so before the brain, there is no soul. Any complaint about abortions before the brain is functional is moronic and evil. WHEREVER abortion and contraception are legal, talked about and allowed freely, abortion rates DROP SIGNIFICANTLY. That means that if you fight against the right to abortion YOU ARE ACTIVELY MAKING ABORTION RATES HIGHER! You are EVIL in your own definition, because you make adoption MORE FREQUENT. Anyone that fights against the right to abortion is a complete idiot that doesn't understand anything about the human condition. They just want to force people to adhere to their personal, medieval moral code and that abhorrent. Ignorance on human rights disgusts me on a deep level.

Bonnie, dear, women don't always know they're pregnant until the fetus starts to kick! Obese women may not know they're pregnant until they actually go into hard labor. And if you want to call a woman who aborts a fetus in the second or third trimester a "murderer", then you need to donate every non-vital organ and body part you have to save another human life or YOU are also a murderer! A good friend is in renal failure and needs a donated kidney to save her life. Isn't she as deserving of someone's body part as a fetus? If a woman can be forced to donate the use of her body to a fetus for nine months why can't every adult -- male and female -- be forced to donate their non-vital body parts? What makes a fetus more precious and special -- and deserving of life -- than a child or adult in organ failure? If you oppose abortion rights you'd better get yourself to the nearest transplant center ASAP!!

Contraception can and does fail. Yes, the young are stupid and irresponsible. That's almost their job. Most unwanted pregnancies occur among the young (roughly 17 to 25 or so), before the prefrontal cortex is fully developed. This is the portion of the brain that governs risk analysis and is largely why the young tend to consider themselves invincible. In point of fact, brains of this age range actually encourage novelty-seeking and impulsive behavior. Those who most engage in sex are, arguably, the least able to weigh the consequences. It's easy for Bonnie, as more mature, to judge the actions of the youth, but she is no longer in their hormonal shoes, so to speak.

Dropping the call just as Bonnie seemed to be slowly getting it was an A hole move. Bonnie was confronting arguments she had never before thought about and sounded like she was on the road to understanding that things are not black and white, and you “step in” to end it. Sorry, I am not impressed.

Apparently you don't know how time works. As in: we ran out of time, and actually ran the show *over* time to stick with Bonnie. If I could have spent another hour, I would have, becauseI think we were getting somewhere with her. Completely unrelated, a great example of an "a-hole move" might be shooting your mouth off in the comments section, completely uninformed.

@@johnnyphilindablanq8536 Thank you for replying. It seems you are a little over-sensitive to critical feedback. Like most people, I know how time works, however, I also understand how diplomacy works in a situation like this, and were it me I would have kept going, even if it meant inviting the caller to stay on the line while closing the show, and continuing in my own time. I guess I would not have called it an A hole move if the call wasn't ended so abruptly, and at a point where it was showing signs of being productive. I found that frustrating, and that is the source of my comment, not being uninformed. I apologize for upsetting you.
