1:35 it's called a training saber. Part of their training long before they make their own involves using training sabers. This means that once they are able to make their sabers they will be relatively proficient and not slice off their own skin like mando does. Training sabers are capable of combat but are low power, instead of high temp beams that burn through objects. It is more akin to a taser effect when hit, and in higher skill lvls could cause burns. Lightwhips are actually of similar power output (however have long and flexible 'ropelike' beams) I have a book somewhere that talks about all kinds of jedi based content not shared within the films. Even details on how force sight really works once you are well trained (it follows a order 66 survivor)

I so much love the scene in which Din Jarin delivers the bounty to his employers, that from the moment the bag comes on screen, till he walks out of the elevator. That the entire scene was filmed in 1 single shot! Showing of how powerful and versatile the Volume is. Havinf an animated background making it look like the elevator goes up and down. If you would look closely to the low lip at the beginning of the scene, is the same as the low lip in the bar/dancehall. and that de camera does not turn right before he steps in the elevator the first time (going up), loops around to show the bar that was behind the camera at the start of the scene. But when back down at the end of the scene Din walks into the same space that was the bar and passed the camera. Some really use of set, camera direction and the volume to animate an make it look like Din moves on two separate storeys.

I personally wondered why they would have a centric Mando episode in a Season that is not his own. Not that I am complaining or anything, is just that I find it very odd. While I wouldn't change anything of the episode, I feel like they could have put in Boba's Perspective on what is happening with Mando. Maybe he argues with his members on bringing in Mando into the team as his muscle. Maybe he could be tracking/spying on Mando's movement by Holographic-shenanigans, and then we end the episode same way. That way it gives us intrigued on what was Mando was doing, which then can be explained with this episode as the first episode of Season 3, syncing both scenes at the same time. Kind of like, How Marvel fans are syncing in Kang's feeling of the multiverse being open, with Wanda's transformation as the scarlet witch, Venom being in the MCU, Spiderman breaking Stephen's Spell, etc. I don't know but that is just my personal opinion...

The episode does not depict a Dyson Sphere, it depicts a ring version of an O'Neil Cylinder, famously featured on Larry Niven's Ringworld. Not only this, but where he says it's open ended to let sunlight filter through, that is completely incorrect as the ring we see is based on Ringworld which has blinders around the star to simulate a day/night cycle. I think that the flashbacks work really well. It gives Boba's backstory from his point of view and then places you in the present creating a kind of anticipatory tension. I kept wanting to see what happened next in each time line. Switching to Din Djarin doesn't stop the flow of the story; it creates a second "thread." This is the technique Tolkien used in writing LOTR. It builds suspense and makes you eager to know what happened in the other thread and how they will meet to complete the story. Great story telling. Thanks for showing all the Easter eggs -- so many you can't catch them all.

While agree that the flashbacks are great, and there is a bit of a Godfather II vibe because they do reflect what’s happening in the present (eg Boba learns about survival as a tribe is necessary and then tries to use it in the present). But, I feel like a whole episode dedicated to Din wound up stopping the flow. It was almost like they knew that viewers would get bored after four shows and then realized they need to bring in Mando to keep the audience engaged. I would have liked to see them run the Mando storyline along side Boba’s. there seemed like 3-4 distinct chapters in the last episode (bounty hunting, working with the armorer, rebuilding the fighter, etc.) and you could run them in parallel. Just a thought.

I dont have any problem with Din being the star of the episode, despite the fact that the show is called The Book of Boba Fett it's a part of a larger story and I'm sure Boba will get time in other series the same way. I also love the show as a whole despite it not being what people would expect from Boba, I find it refreshing and an evolution for the character. Boba is getting older, wiser, he's taken a lot of hard hits and gotten the shit kicked out of him for years and did it all for other people. I don't think many people would want to be constantly putting their life on the line for people they don't know and don't like let alone doing it their whole life. Boba as a character deserves more and deserves to evolve, sure he talks more and tries to come to peaceful solutions when possible but he is still Boba Fett and he definitely can and will still flip the switch to beast mode when he has to, but you can't blame him for wanting something better. Yeah seeing him be nothing but sheer badass would be cool but it would get boring without some kind of growth. People will talk smack until he's leading his own small army from on top of a rancor and jumping off it to merc a bunch of mercenaries and assassins.

Another “wizard” Easter egg is that even though Kitster is the only one who says it in Phantom Menace, the action figures that came out that year came with chips that allowed them to say lines from the movie. One of the things that the Anakin figure said was “Wizard!” which makes me think that Jake Lloyd was filmed saying it for a scene that ended up being deleted.

"Glavis was a ring world that contained a city home to a variety of species. Orbiting mirrors provided day and night cycles for those living on the interior of the ring. During the New Republic Era, Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin visited the ring to locate The Tribe." As described in the Wookieepedia, Glavis is a direct reference to Larry Niven's RingWorld and it is not a open ring, but a closed one with mirrors in a inner orbit to simulate the day/night cycles.

Actually, I think it's a great nod to history and an effective story telling tool. It's also a bit of a "life imitating art imitating life" scenario. But you need to look at the deeper meaning behind things. The Mods vs Rockers clashes of 1964 are clearly the intended reference when we look at the SW Mods vs the Kintan Striders. This is reinforced by the bar scene where Boba kills the thugs & steals their "bikes" for the Tuskan Raiders to use against the Pyke Syndicate train. The "biker bar" is an established movie trope to establish a demographics' connection with motorcycles and thuggery. What may not be apparent though is that it also represents the "Old School" vs "New School" fandoms which have come to prominence. You have the "traditionalist" fans (Rockers) who are regimental in what is acceptable Star Wars content. They are vocal in calling out that which does not meet with their opinion of what constitutes "Star Wars" (e.g. sequel trilogy). They live & breathe Star Wars. And then you have the "Fashionista" fans (Mods). They've jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon because it is seen to be trendy. They're only interested in the "keep me entertained with a story" but pay no regard to the history or "lore" which went into originally creating it. The Rockers think the Mods are destroying music with their different "modern" sound. They don't accept scooters to be "real motorcycles". Rockers think Mods are "pretenders". This parallels a lot of what we are seeing in the clash of Star Wars the Star Wars fandom. Rockers thinking the new content created without regard to what happened in the past as being destructive and somehow the Mods are tarnishing that which is tantamount to their Rocker existence.

@@15uzu I fully understand that. You didn’t need to go into it. I just didn’t like how on the nose it is. It could’ve been way more subtle. You need to not assume everyone is dumb. It’s poor story telling at its finest. Carry on finding reason to like it though 👍

I Agree that so far BoBF doesn't have a lot of momentum, and maybe it's not the direction everyone wanted to see Boba take, I just wish people could be satisfied that we're getting Star Wars content that actually feels respectful of what came before (unlike the Sequels which were a lot of flash and spectacle but not much substance. I liked watching them but I don't think they were good). We still have a couple episodes to go, so hopefully this is like the long slow climb on a rollercoaster before the epic drop that glues us to our seats. I think Mando refusing payment to help Boba is a sign of how much respect he earned when he and Fennec agreed to help rescue Grogu, even if it was just being a taxi/decoy service. Heck he probably doesn't even know Fett took over as a crime boss, he just hears a homie needs help and agrees because Boba did the same for him. I'm hoping this comradery continues through S3, and even possibly leads to a confrontation or at the very least tense standoff between Luke and Boba. Luke has Grogu, and in a roundabout way is responsible for Boba's change of situation and overall evolution. Who knows though, it's Star Wars made by people who love Star Wars, we'll get something cool even if it's not what we expected. All in all, Book of Boba Fett is a really good Season 2.5 of The Mandalorian.
