The episode does not depict a Dyson Sphere, it depicts a ring version of an O'Neil Cylinder, famously featured on Larry Niven's Ringworld. Also, the native inhabitants of Malastare are the Dug (aka Sebulba from Episode 1). The species mentioned in 2:22 is called Gran. The Gran colonized Malastare at some point.

Not only this, but where he says it's open ended to let sunlight filter through, that is completely incorrect as the ring we see is based on Ringworld which has blinders around the star to simulate a day/night cycle. If you think about it the starfighter is usually the ship showcased by the heroes of star wars and his transition into an N1 felt like he was beginning to take up the mantel of a hero in Star Wars. Mando boarding the commercial flight is reminiscent to Boba Fett boarding a luxury cruise liner in the Han Solo book series by AC Crispen. It’s funny how Mando said that his weaponry was religious and proceeded to place his items into a large case. In the third book, Boba is in disguise as a religious refugee and is completely covered by robes and a breathing mask. His mission is to capture Rebel agent Bria Tharen. Boba’s Mandalorian armor and other weaponry is concealed in a large luggage case, which hid the items from security checks.

The structure of the giant loop habitat was not fully illustrated in the show. It was clearly a reference to the Ringworld, from the sci-fi writings of Larry Niven, which is a giant closed loop completely around a star with the night and day sequence provided by "shadow squares" which are a smaller set of linked flat rectangular constructs orbiting between the sun and the inhabited ring. As the scale of the construct on the show was relatively tiny compared to Niven's Ringworld, we can conjecture that at its centre is a small artificial source of light/heat rather than an actual star.

Between Kenobi, Ashoka, book of boba Fett and the Mandalorian, I think Star Wars is trying to create an “arrow-verse” with multiple crossover episodes. This episode introduces that concept and shows that even though each character is getting their own shows, we should expect that they are able to work as a team. Grand Admiral Thrawn is going to be a huge deal and Ashoka will not be able to take on that threat alone. Boba Fett’s criminal underworld and Mando leading other Mandalorian’s will allow them to take revenge on Thrawn for the night of 1000 tears. I liked this episode of the mandalorian, but why did they call it "the book of boba fett"? weird right? Also does anyone think the alteration to the ship makes it look like the HOMER MOBILE from the SIMPSONS. As its got a bubble area for the kids so you cant hear them. And how is he going to store frozen bounties in that ship? its tiny. He's just going to have to collect heads instead.

1:44 NO No No!!! This entire sequence is referencing the ground breaking Sci-Fi books RINGWORLD which drew inspiration from Dyson's sphere. In Ringworld the ring surrounds the star. So day and night are mimicked using floating plates that orbit the inside of the ring. These books created such a sensation that after the first one, physics students did calculations on the stability of the ring, and the insane resources needed to build it. Cussing Dyson to reach out to the author, blowing his mind. In the second books forward, the author talks about it. It's a great series, and I thought it clever the way this episode made such a clear nod to Ringworld to the point of designing a day gap in the structure of the ring.

Moff Gideon will beat DInn in hand-to-hand combat, then Grogu will wipe the floor with Gideon, installing himself as the rightful ruler of Mandalore.

I used to find Grogu cute til he ate all those babies when the poor mama went thru so much to get them to somewhere safer. So if I don’t see him again, I wouldn’t mind that. Lol I loved how he was forced to use the commercial flights 🤣😂🤣 and then he shows off to the same kid that stared at him. The N-1 was so cool 🥰 especially souped up 🥰🥰🥰

I thought the scene with the Din and the flashlight droid was more reminiscent of Tony Stark and his 'droid' when they were making the first ironman armor.

I don't think I've ever seen a filler episode for one show snuck into another show. I'm pretty sure they just wanted to start the next season of the Mandalorian with Din already owning the ship and cast out from his old Mando cult. They'll include snippets of this episode on the "previously" segment.

I can't be the only one who thinks he saw the Millennium Falcon docked on the ring station when Mando left on the transport. You can see it clearly right before it fades into shadow.

This was such a good, and important, episode of the Mandalorian. Which was a strange choice, but ok. Also, a ringworld is a completely different stellar megastructure concept than a Dyson sphere, which completely surrounds a star to absorb its energy. ("Nerd!!" etc.)

The lightsabers in attack of the clones that the younglings are wielding are training sabers, they're really low power.

You know, so far Favreau and Filoni have shown they can do Star Wars. The right way. I trust they know what they're doing with this series, and why it exists between S2 and S3 of The Mandalorian. Din and what we've seen in this episode, might be integral to Boba Fett and his story. That Boba's and Din's story intersect isn't a surprise, it did in Season 2. Here's what I think. Grogu comes back with Din, and are instrumental in helping Fett. Fett (and other Mandalorians?) join the Mudhorn Clan. (That was the clan the Armorer declared Din and Grogu to be, a clan of two. The Armorer also tells Din that Grogu was a foundling in his care, so I do consider Grogu a Mandalorian.) Through this, Fett gets his tribe. This is what he desires most of all. And *that's* why this episode exists... (And in a week, I'll probably be proven wrong, lol.)
