Grogu likes shiny objects but he knows danger when he sees it. And he’s gifted so he knows where to point the force. He went for the joint, a vulnerable place on anything with joints. I think Grogu knew just where to concentrate but didn’t consider the trajectory or is just too small to physically handle the thrust without the force. He’ll learn.

Speaking as a New Zealander, Tem Morrison has always tried to bring Maori fighting styles into this show. When He kills at the end, that face is often used in Haka when symbolising defeating the enemy - if you're a kiwi, you'd know it. The tongue out and the shake of the head while stabbing down. Go Tem. Proud New Zealander here, I'd watch it even if it was rubbish - fortunately, it was excellent.

When the rancor rips the droid in half and Bobba says “Do It” I believe it was a call back to Anakin being told to kill Dooku by the emperor (even using the same arm motion to rip the droid as Anakin did to kill Dooku) and it showcases Bobbas turn to good the same way the latter showcased Anakins fall to the dark side

On the topic of Boba "remembering" he has a jetpack, I saw this theory that you actually need to have the helmet on in order for the pack to work, as a safety precaution. Hence during the fight in Episode 1 he couldn't use his pack, as he couldn't put his helmet on. The show even makes a point to show the helmet fall to the ground during the fight. In the first episode of Mando season 2, as Cobb Vanth is preparing to enter the fight with the Kryat dragon, he's shown putting on his helmet before his jetpack activates. We also never see any other mandolorians or clones or anyone else using their jetpacks without their helmet on, with the sole exception of Pre Vizla during his duel with Maul. Considering this is the only time that we see anyone do this, I'd say it's more likely that Pre Vizla's jetpack was modified to bypass that safety precaution. So it's not that Boba forgot he had a jetpack, it's that it wasn't an option at the time. (And yes, I know about the foot thruster things used by both Bane in TCW and Ezra in Rebels, those are very clearly different technology though, since they emit some sort of blue energy instead of a jet of fire, don't allow long-range flight, and are obviously mounted differently)
@faevoryn6578
@faevoryn6578 2 жыл бұрын
This is a thought provoking idea! I bet Mandalorians are not keen on flying without helmets. I do recall Bo Katan giving Obi Wan a jetpack in the Clone Wars, and both of them flew without helmets in that scene. But I like your theory of Visla making a modification. Bo Katan was Visla's right hand back then. Maybe all of the Deathwatch crew followed suit...

I also thought the fight between Boba Fett and Cad Bane had some fantastic symbology for Boba Fett's growth as a character. Bane comments about Boba's armor and when the fight begins, Fett relies on his armor and blaster. These are iconic to the original character we know, and the same Boba Fett that Bane knows. When Cad Bane went in for the killing blow, he knocked Boba Fett's helmet off and in that moment we get to see Boba as vulnerable. He's no longer the masked badass but rather an emotional and complex character. Finally, it's Fett using the Tusken gully staff and the training he received from the Tuskens to defeat Bane. He used the tools and tactics he gained from his journey of growth - his newfound personality and strength - to defeat someone from his past. With the notion of Cad Bane teaching a young Boba Fett, this fight shows us Boba's growth from the silent badass into his evolution of an individual who is more than his armor while confronting the demons from his younger days. At least that's how I saw it.

I don't really mind if individual episodes aren't so awesome, or individual plotlines or B plots aren't super thrilling, but if it makes the universe bigger and more detailed, and the characters are interesting, that makes me happy, because its still fundamentally making Star Wars better.

Presumably, Grogu choosing to put the Rancor to sleep is simultaneously a sign of his growing powers -- he'd used them a moment ago to stop the droid and didn't have to fall asleep -- and that he's more balanced, since the last time he thought Mando was in danger, he tried to force choke Cara Dune.

I'm perfectly fine with Cad Bane being dead, not every cool Star Wars character can live forever. We have no idea what he was doing during the Empire time so there's definitely a chance we'll see him again in stories set in that time period. I’m 26 years old. My introduction to Star Wars was episode 1 the phantom menace. Even though I was really young, I still remember going to see that movie in the theaters. I have an older brother who is also into Star Wars and if you ask if to choose between the light or dark side of the force we’ll say neither. We pick Mandalorians. Because if you want a force user dead, you call a mandolorian. So unlike a lot of those in my generation who are upset or don’t like this series of boba, I absolutely enjoy it. The series John has brought us has been extremely enjoyable and I can’t wait to see what more we’re gonna get! From a foundling, this is the way.

Once we saw the X-Wing coming, I think all of us wondered if Luke was going to end up joining the fight on Boba Fett's side. It's probably for the best because a few seasons down the line I could see Din Djarin summoning all his allied to help in a climactic battle to put Grogu on the throne of Mandalore (or whatever the climactic fight will be about). That's the point where Luke and Boba meet again. But there was a huge missed opportunity because we could have had Luke see Grogu stopp a rancor without even needing to hurt it. Also, when we have two shooters on the roof with one providing a "distraction" against a robot with 2 separate turret-arms why in the sarlacc are they on the same damn roof? Irrelevant we haven’t seen any on tattooine...also when he was riding him he had his helmet and full suit on so the rancor couldn’t see his face...I’m guessing that’s why mando tried to ride him when he was on the tower because he was the closest resemblance to boba with the suit and helmet shape. However the rancor quickly threw him off which tells me that it’s more than just a visual connection. Boba has obviously been training with him nonstop and I’m thinking a lot of it has to do with smell. Everyone has a unique scent. It’s like when your dog can tell it’s you before it can even see you.

By the time of Rebels (so before A New Hope) first generation clones like Rex are already old men. Cut to post Empire and they are most likely all dead. They were created with accelerated aging intentionally so they would get rid of them after the war was done. It's a huge deal in the Clone Wars related media. Boba was the only perfect clone (aside from Omega apparently) who had no accelerated aging and no alterations to his DNA or structure. He is just a perfect copy of Jango Fett.

11:52 _“Just use your jetpack, dude.”_ There are many scenes throughout Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett where using their jetpacks preemptively would’ve been easier. However, you never see either of them use their jetpacks for more than a burst of a few seconds here and there, except when in a fully dire scenario (it’s not like you ever see either of them pleasure-cruising across the desert from one town to another by jetpack). That leads me to believe their jetpack fuel reserves are fairly limited (maybe 30-60 seconds of flight time total), and they’re trained to try to always keep some left in the tank for an emergency escape or life-saving maneuver. Their jetpacks are one of their ace-in-the-hole weapons- they don’t have a lot of it, but when all else fails it can save them. So I’d head-canon that they both try to deliberately use as little jetpack fuel and keep as much in reserve as possible- Boba Fett Ep. 7 and Mandalorian S. 2 Ep. 1 are probably the only two times we see Boba and Din respectively completely deplete their jetpack tanks (Boba’s mostly off-screen, returning to his palace in a hurry).

Reasons I like the Mod gang in episodes 3 and 7. 1. I like things that are unusual for Star Wars. It never had time travel before until towards the end of Rebels season 4 with the "World between worlds" Some could say that it feels out of place for Star wars. I loved it and the mods for being something different.. 2. I Really like Drash, the one with the red droid arm played by Sophie Thatcher. Not only do I think she is cute, she reminds me of a friend . I like how she uses her knife, how she drives her scooter, how she is determined to accomplish what ever it is that she wants to. She is a bad ass and she also reminds my of Jyn Erso from Rogue One. 3. I think that young people as a group has never been explored or represented in Star Wars before besides Younglings and I think it is about time they are. 4. Having the Mods in the show, allows the viewer to see things from a different perspective. we didn't know that there were not job opportunities. We need to see all different types of people on Tattoine, not just moisture farmers, gangsters, crime boss's, Jawa's, Sand people, business owners, Twi'lek slaves and musicians. Why can't we have teenagers or people in their 20's? Star Wars is for everyone, not just small children and men in their 40'sand 50's. 5. I like that the mods are cybernetically enhanced. I recently watched Alita Battle Angel and wished that they could some how do something like that in Star Wars and in Boba Fett episodes 3 and 7, they did! I can't wait to get some Bad Daddy Bane flashbacks in season 2! I like the implication that Bane and Jango were partners at some point and Bane fostered Boba as a personal favor. I don't think that Cad Bane is dead for good, he's come back from worse than being poked with a pointed stick.

Thanks for including the Deadwood clip @ 12:34 ! Very apropros cos it's the exact same dialogue W. Earl Brown mentioned in his tweet back when The Marshal episode aired. His words describing their rehearsal on set: I stand behind the bar. For shits & giggles, I say to Tim, “you oughta pin that f****** badge to yer chest, you’re hypocrite enough to wear it.” Tim and I proceed to play out scenes from our old show. We get a few giggles from the HBO watchers. Jon walks on set, laughing “I swear to God, I love that show - I absolutely idolize Milch. We cast you first,” pointing at Tim, “when I said ‘hire Earl Brown’ I did not consciously think I was recreating your DEADWOOD dynamic, but here we are - DEADWOOD In Space… Okay, let’s rehearse” “Can we improvise and throw a few ‘C**********’ into the dialogue, as tribute?”

Yes, Boba didn't use the jetpack in EP1, but he would have left Fennec alone inside the shield formation if he had used it.

Its still pretty silly. If he jetpacked out regardless of leaving Fennec, it would of broke the shield formation to free fennec. Can we all just admit that they were too lazy and didnt have the budget to animate boba flying.
@AdmiralStoicRum
@AdmiralStoicRum 2 жыл бұрын
@@anthonygordon9483 "the didn't have the budget" is not synonymous with disney and star wars in the same context. 2 reasons in my mind, 1 the helmet is where the controls for the jetpack are when you dont use the manual on your wrist, 2 leaving shand would have left her open, and possibly burned by the pack's exhaust.
@rahminbuckman6090

Not to mention would have cooked her, since you know jet packs require burning jet fuel. Using it in EP1 when surrounded in such a close space would likely have burned Fennec...thought that part was clear?

Maybe two additional easter eggs: 01. "Santo" of course is the name of a mexican lucha libre wrestler who made ALOT of pulpy movies in the 60s and 70s. Like the wookie, he's more or less invincible and a tough guy. Back then, for a lot of Mexicans, Santo was some sort of national hero. Maybe Rodriguez, being of mexican family roots, put that there 02. I might be wrong on this, but when Grogu calms the Rancor, in the music, I believe to hear a swift allusion to Morricone's "The good, the bad and the ugly" score

Season 2 THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Boba establishes a large new empire as he comes to learn of his sister, Omega. An ecstatic Boba seeks to locate her and declares she will become his rightful heir. The declaration is a brutal betrayal to Fennec Shand, disgruntled with the thought of Boba giving away his rule to an undeserving Omega. Boba and Fennec locate and discover Omega. Boba smiles at her excited to speak for the first time before being abruptly murdered by Fennec Shand as she rants, “SCREW RESPECT.” Killing him on spot in front of a stunned Omega. Coming to learn this man was her never to be known last surviving sibling, Omega becomes enraged with vengeance. Sides of Boba’s empire grapple and split between staying loyal to a murderous Fennec or staying loyal to Boba’s wishes of a Omega rule. A season long battle ensues culminating with Omega falling into darkness as she cuts through waves of opposition before making her way to brutally murdering Fennec Shand. The season ends with a pan out shot of Omega walking toward a ship, it’s the Slave 1. She enters the cockpit and dawns the Boba Fett helmet, season ends.

Feel like it's also important to note, a lot of people during the Age of Empire also had a huge distrust of battle droids because of the Clone Wars. Emperor Palpatine when he was still in control of the empire actually gave an officer a protocol Droid. the same officer later returned a message saying basically that he was honored by his gift, however something bad happened to the protocol Droid. He never actually went into specific detail as to what happened to it
@BetaX425
@BetaX425 2 жыл бұрын
There was also the fact that those 'gifts' were often stuffed to the brim with surveillance equipment so the ISB could keep tabs on the their officer corps. Look up the RA-7 Protocol Droid if you want more information.

Second there's still all the time, about thirty years, between the end of the Clone Wars till BOBF to fill in. Third he could easily show up in the Kenobi or Andor series and this is a nice introduction for the casual fans.
