YES! Born in Winter at last. You just made my day. F*****g love this song. For the story (everything is better with a story), last year my parents were curious and asked me to introduce them to the noisy music I'm listening to (their only references are from the sixties). I played this song for them and they genuinely loved it. I had to play it several times.Their first reaction was "that guitar player is a machine...and the singer...he's a bit angry, no?" BTW, I was born in winter.

And...2 months later...and I finally get to this! Have to say that I fell in love with the song when you painted it. That atmosphere they create throughout...just fantastic. Thanks to your videos, Gojira sold 3 more albums, and probably more when I have digested those 3.

That chorus is one of my favorite Gojira moments. The build up to "The day you come to life you'll realize". Love the vocal delivery there and the wall of sound that comes in.

This song creeps up on you. Listen the first time, 'Yeah, that was pretty interesting, I guess." Day later, walking along, there it is, played out in your head! OK, go back, listen again. It's more hypnotic, more melancholic. Few more time, and it's arresting, consuming. I disagree about the singing. There's a particular control/restraint and emotion, and a tone very much like Leonard Cohen. Lots of impact.
@BeauCardwellReacts7 жыл бұрын
+C Carson I can see what you're saying! Great Cohen comparison. I mentioned that he definitely serves the song but my following comments may have sounded negative! Not my intention because this is awesome!!! Thanks Carson!

Good talk afterwards. It took me a loooong time to get into this album. But after it gets you, oh boy. There's some 'natural' on this album, they've always had that but on L'Enfant Sauvage it's somehow more pure and not so raw as they used to be. Which was the problem for in the first place. On this song when the distortion hits, Joe's vocals give the chills. He has never sounded so good, so desperate and sad. I already put sugges on this vid, but pfft here i go again. Might recommended this before, "In The Forest (The Link Alive)" and watch the video which is 6 minutes long. There's Mario's very cool drum solo which leads into the song. The song is very different from what they did on their two first albums. Have a great day, or night. I'm off to work now ☕☕☕

Great reaction! I'll always like Gojira no matter how they change/if they do. Many people go away from a band when they start to sing more than growling/screaming, but it's easy to forget that they're only human, the voice box can only take some much over the years lol! You should check out "Machine head - Locust". They're not quite gojira, but the song is great live... There's a few good versions on here I believe. Great job!

Now that you've reacted to Born in Winter, I won't stop harassing you, I'll hold my breath and stop breathing until you listen to the song Satan is a Lawyer. Was going through bands i listened to this summer. And find a great suggestion for you, because i've understood you are a fan of Mastodon. Check out "Big Business - Lonely Lyle" They toured together with Mastodon, don't remember when. Big Business is a big influence for Mastodon. Don't know how known Big Business is there, but here it seems only few know them. You will definetly like it! I'm not going to recommend any of the live versions, because i haven't seen them myself. But there's a audio track video.

Bordeaux 2009 has an even better version in my opinion :D It also has the best versions of Oroborus (together with Eurokeennes 2009) which should definitely be checked out. :)
If you're still paying attention to this thread Beau, I just watched the afformentioned Bordeaux show. It seems like better sound quality and video quality is at the Bordeaux show, while Garorock has better camera work but has an annoying level of visual editing doneto the videos. But hey, it's music we care about, right? Bordeaux gets the recommendation from me, but both are excellent.

Oh nice, Gojira-time! Gonna check this in the morning before work, as always ;) Did the Jon Gomm video get blocked or? Managed to see it and leaved a suggestion on it. I'll post it again if you missed it. It was "Cult of Luna - Ghost Trail live at London." They are an eight-piece post-rock / post-metal band from Sweden, yes - eight(8)-piece haha. There's a vocalist, guitarist/vocalist, two other guitarists, bass player, keyboard/electronic stuff dude and two drummers. Also for a Gojira suggestion: "Death Of Me (The Link Alive)"

People like that think they are ahead of the curve and we are better then you because we like this bands unique sound not talking abiut this band but in general. Maybe the music you are forcing yourself to like is really crap

Yeah it sucks you can't ever see him perform that song live. Cuz of the tuning and the fact that it has to be at such low volumes live show you wouldn't be able to hear it course that's coming from Joe himself so. But it's an awesome song nevertheless
