This brought back memories! I taught history at a small private academy here in New Hampshire for 35 years before my retirement. Each spring I would take my US History class to Boston. We parked at Wonderland and rode the T following this same route to Copley where we'd visit the Boston Public Library and Trinity Church. Then we'd walk up Commonwealth Avenue and through the Public Garden to Charles Street. After exploring Beacon Hill, we'd go through Boston Common and begin following the Freedom Trail, stopping first at the Granery Burying Ground (which I don't recall ever seeing you go through) next to the Park Street Church to see the graves of Sam Adams, Paul Revere, the Franklin Family, and even Mother Goose. We'd stop at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market for lunch before continuing through the North End, ending up at Old Ironsides and USS Cassin Young across the river. We rarely made it to the Bunker Hall Monument as I had by that time successfully worn out a bunch of teenagers, and Old Ironsides made an excellent ending for the trip. The ride back to New Hampshire was always very quiet as the students were usually sound asleep the whole way! Many thanks for this video!

They used to do the switchover at Maverick, but ended up changing it to Airport because sometimes the lights would go out as the power changed and the nature of an above ground station instead of the middle of a tunnel makes it less noticeable/annoying

Is this meaning the Overhead to 3rd rail switchover?

Tap to pay was activated in mid September 2024. It works great and is much easier than loading a Charlie Card! Also, the Blue Line switches from overhead catenary to third rail at Airport, not Maverick. Hearing the Green Line Type 8 referred to as “one of the older models” makes me feel ancient. 😂

It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. Boston looks cleaner than Manhattan. I'm wondering if it's safer. Keep up the good work. :)

Hermoso paseo muy bien explicado. Las calles están otra vez rebosantes de ti, no te alejes de New York, solo tu filmas de manera tan singular. Activa siempre los subtitulos así puedo entender lo que explicas, un placer verte y escucharte. Saludos.

When I went to Boston in the middle of this month, they had to close all the subways for maintenance, so thank you for these videos.

I love these videos, I worked for the transit system, the Green line and it was so rewarding and interesting. The track electricity is in the form of a third rail, which was powered with 600 volts. The overhead wire is called catenary wire and it is also 600 volts.

The electric source on the ground is called "third rail". Incidently, the name "Wonderland" referred to the greyhound race track across the road from the MBTA station which closed and was demolished many years ago.
