Thank you! Your tip on how to hold the bow correctly really helped me, to begin grouping my arrows. I started shooting a recurve bow using the Mediterranean release, so when out of curiosity, I began shooting thumb draw I carried over everything I had learnt, including as you explain holding the bow. This video really opened my eyes, thanks again.

Notice... The elbow is pointing to the left, NOT DOWN... That allows the "under arm" to jump to the left, when releasing... Also, you see he flicks the bowhand to the left, while releasing... While he only explain, about the correct way to "flick the upper bow end forwards", and that "alone" is one Cathra method, which I always use now... That alone, removes the bow a few millimeter from the arrowpath, while the arrow pass... But the sideway "flick of the hand", adds to that removal... Personally I do not fully master that, yet... You might say, "the sideways flick comes after the shot", but it STARTS at the release, so that truly helps... Thanks a lot, for this great video, lyoo 1... Greetings to all from Dan fron Denmark.

Basically when you release the arrow the grip turns into a classic Mediterranean 😁 Minus the bottom two fingers applying the pressure, of course. Nice video, nice explanation.

What is this draw style called please? Do you point the arrow at the target all the time, right through the draw?

it's just a way to shoot. and, yes, i try to put arrow at the target. but i cannot look down the arrow shaft so it's more of feeling.

I just recently get into Korean bow and I have a hard time to shoot it likew hat you did. I am shooting my self bow and other take down recurve bows and using 3 under draw. When I try to leran to show my cheap Korean bow (PMZ), all these arrows are consistently shoot to the far right when I place the arrow on the right side of bow shaft. When I try to shoot with Tumb draw like your video, these arrows is closer the my aim (target). What is the best and proper way to shoot an Korean (Asiatic) bow? From your video, it seems the hand grip, thumb draw and Khatra all play an important role to ensure accuracy. But why? Thanks,
@iyoo1 Жыл бұрын
oh, i am excited to hear you are starting asiatic style archery. yes, thumb release needs some training and time. i'll try my best to explain. with thumb shooting you WILL send arrows to the right due to the bow is in front of you. you can line up arrow to the target. this makes you aim slightly off to the left. or you can find softer spine arrow to shoot. choice is yours. holding hand can be very loose. have a pressure in the center to lower side of the palm and as you pull support the bow handle coming at you. if you like shooting lower poundage bow, you can hold the bow rather tight in order to control it. again, these are two different method so you can choose which way if suitable for you. i can make a video about it since visual is going to be helpful. at the end of the day, best way of shooting is how you shoot best. there are many different styles and types of archery. try many and find out what suits you. after all, it is the archery that makes the bow shoot. hope i could be a help. ^_^;;

great video. What aiming technique are you using? and how to select a thumb ring size?

i don't have aiming technique. just look at the target and let go when it feels right. for thumb ring, i make my own so it fits better than other rings.

thanks. arrows are Rampage arrows from Black Eagle arrows website. these specific ones are 150 spine, 32", and 925 grains.

Great explanation, it was very clear and straight forward. I do have a unrelated question about your quiver. Are the arrows loose (rattling) in your quiver or are they firmly in place and silent? If it’s the last, could you tell me what quiver you use? Or where you got it from? I’m still looking for a quiet back quiver so arrows aren’t in the way when shooting is crowded.
@iyoo12 жыл бұрын
thanks. this bqck quiver is actually from Walmart. it is cloth so i will be lose quiver. if you want back quiver that can be quite look up some of leather ones with fabric filling or side quiver for horseback archery. they tend to have more options than regular sports stores.
