You have no idea how much I needed this video, it's been bothering me for like 2 years!

Saw this video a long time ago, thought I was immune to the arrow flick... had to come back to this video...

Nice bow!

Solid advice. I never had the flicking issue, but I did, from time to time squeeze the arrow between the index and middle finger a bit too hard 😂. Which happened when I was focusing too hard on the draw, and paid no attention to my bow hand.

For me (holding bow with left hand) works tilting bow little bit counter clockwise.

Awesome hints, thanks! I new already about pressing the index finger on the shaft, but didn‘t realize the wrist twist..I need to watch that, thanks for the hint!👍

I noticed this but did not properly diagnose the issue. I changed to a much smaller thumb ring and that seems to have helped a lot.

Yeah I’ve been having this same problem with my regular thumb draw and I’ve noticed the arrow bending from time to time too. I’ll have a go with all of these in mind. The other thing I’ve been doing recently is I’m working on the Indian pinch grip, but with a thumb ring. It’s a bit like Ishi’s style, but instead of a bent index finger, it’s pointing straight down the arrow like slavic draw. And locking with the middle finger. The index finger would stop the arrow flicking up and shooting like 20ft in the air or something.

I believe thumb ring is an influence too.
@notapplicable5312 жыл бұрын
Don't be too hasty in saying you don't get a horizontal "flick" with a thumb ring. If you put too little pressure with the index finger on the arrow, the arrow can "flick off" your thumb rest. Don't forget that you're canting the bow slightly and the arrow is already tending/wanting to slide off your thumb.

Always informative in a down-to-earth way, although I don't shoot traditional bow, it's just good to have such knowledge to share in my club, many beginners at my club picked trad bow as their starting point instead of barebow

Since I shoot Korean style I don't think I have this issue.. I use a lot of string twist so it stabilizes on the bow

Is it normal for new archers to be much more accurate and precise with thumb draw vs Mediterranean?
@NUSensei Жыл бұрын
It's not normal. This tends to be a false positive and more often a sign of someone who is more familiar with one method than another. However, as learners have low consistency and expectations, consistency instruction and practice will show roughly equal results with either method. It's a bit more abnormal for someone to _only_ be good with one method despite being trained in both - these are skills that can be taught, learned and developed mutually.

I have a question. I just got my set up PSE Nighthawk recurve 62in bow 30lb draw 58in string I believe. I don’t know what Arrows to get, I just know I want carbon bc I’ll be practicing. However how long should my arrows be! Spine 300, 350 or 400 I have no clue. Must my fletching be feathers only?

@andrewauh26052 жыл бұрын
400 will be way too stiff. Around 700 spine will be more desirable, depending on your draw length.

What spine arrows are you shooting with this bow?
@andrewauh26052 жыл бұрын
What kind of bow is it? Also the draw weight and your draw length/desired arrow length.
