I saw Bowie on this same tour, same band on May 8th 1978 at Madison Square Garden. By far the greatest live musical experience of my life. After opening with the ambient textures of Warszawa, the full band kicked into this brand new song called "Heroes". Within 30 seconds, it was clear to all that this song would be one for the ages.

What a killer band Bowie had! Dennis Davis was by far my biggest influence as a drummer when I grew up in the 70s and I studied every groove and fill he ever played! Not forgetting George Murray, who had everything a bonafide bass guitar guru should have. And Adrian Belew... wow, what an innovative guitarist! This is pure love for me...

This song came out of the Hansa studio as a pure diamond: perfect. The closer to that original he and others stayed, the better it was. He was the epitome of the second half of the seventies: scarce, ahead, timeless, fascinating and tragic. Nothing in rock was never that good anymore afterwards.

Je ne connaissais pas cette version de Heroes. Enregistrée 😊. Merci 👍👍Pour moi, c'est la chanson la plus importante de ce grand artiste, elle évoque Andy Warhol et le job principal des dauphins.

There is something special about how Germans record a band. There is always this special vibe going on. Also if you look at the Rock Palast registrations. Or this one, AC/DC in a German tv show. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4C3fqpmpJZ4gq8

For years Luther vandross was his backing singer.

It was only the Young Americans album where he was a backing vocalist who added some ideas and was duly credited. That experience certainly inspired Vandross to make music his career choice.
