Nintendo did make an option to wake Bowser up. They locked it to his amiibo.

I replay this game quite often. It's like Sonic CD, Mania, or Link's Awakening in the sense where I can just hop in, complete it in a relatively low amount of time, and be satisfied. A lot of my favorite games of all time are pretty short games because of that. I hate the lucky island shines in this game though.

I hope Sonic gets back to the idea of "It's like Mario, but better." Sonic Frontiers take notes Edit: Now that I think about it, Yuji Naka said Sonic should use one button because Mario needed two. He also added Co-op in Sonic 2 because you had to take turns in Mario. I wonder what other gameplay mechanics were added in response to Mario?

Honestly I feel pretty much the same about Bowser's Fury, Odyssey and Frontiers. It would be really great if the followup to Frontiers manages to have the cohesion Bowser's Fury had. It's also funny Bowser's Fury and Frontiers both have the silly "wait for the chance to do the thing" challenges.
@jesuspernia8031 Жыл бұрын
I think it will have cohesion since the reception to Frontiers is very positive and I’m pretty sure they’re gonna take this gameplay style and story and continue it for a while. At least for one more game. Although a new Sonic game probably won’t happen for a while I give it 3-4 years.

Plessise can dive underwater when you press the run button. In the final boss, you're supposed to dive underneath the lasers. Also, if you jump after surfacing from a dive, Plessie will do a bigger jump.

Thinking about this game in specific not just brings me joy because this is one of my favorite Mario games ever made. but also because of the crazy shit they could do with the next full 3D Mario game (if) they're using Odyssey and This as a base for the next one, makes me excited for a (possible) future.

You had me right up until the end of the video lol. Frontiers smacks a lot more of Odyssey to me than BotW. Yeah it has some aesthetic parallels and there are surface-level analogues like shrines and cyberspace, but one is an open world adventure game and the other is a sandbox collectathon. Hell I'd say it takes more inspiration from Shadow of the Colossus than BotW. And bro that Odyssey-Unleashed comparison had me stunned. I'm trying to wrap my head around it, and I guess there is SOME stuff (globe-trotting adventure stories, MC forms a friendship with a tiny floating thing, werehog has some collectathon elements) but the games are so distinct in terms of identity it kinda took me aback. The ancitipation continues to build for your Unleashed video.

In Spider-Man 3 the movie game there's a walk button. It is literally useless but I remember spending lots of time as a kid just walking around in the open world along the npc citizens and crossing streets when the light was green and stuff (Totally a not autistic thing to do)

Imagine this formula for a galaxy sequel were instead of traveling through water to reach islands to travel through space to reach planets. It could be really cool because the map could have a lot of height but I imagine that the method of traveling between planets could be easily cheesed to skip platforming

i always tell my friends that Bowser's Fury is the closest to 64 we will ever get again but no one ever agreed with me, it's nice to see that someone else gets it. i do prefer BF over Odyssey because the level design feels more tight and you're not running over nothing pieces of land for too long, there is no downtime between collecting Shines

I both agree and disagree with Sonic frontiers part but the disagree parts are more about combat and some minigame stuff which I understand you don't really like. But I agree with level design obviously. Tbh Bowser's fury' biggest advantage is that the world feels complete while Frontiers feels like it's not finished sadly. Story I think there is no competation that frontiers wins(to me makes the final boss feel better) but that's not really anything big since Bowsers fury don't focus on that and it does a good job at it with what it's doing.

Still sad we never got Banjo-Threeie. Getting Banjo and Kazooie in Smash was great, but hearing that Rare still had no plans to go back was a huge disappointment
@Pariah69502 жыл бұрын
I mean, Yooka-Laylee is basically Banjo 3. And the current Rare is not the same one that made the Banjo games. Xbox should hand Banjo over to someone like Gears for Breakfast like Sega did with Streets of Rage 4.
@joshhacker85032 жыл бұрын
@@Pariah6950 No offense but I didn't like Yooka-Laylee at all. I actually played it on a livestream once, and I regretted it ever since. Unlike the 2 Banjo-Kazooie games, I ran around same level for god knows how long looking for more stuff to do. Even in Banjo-Tooie I didn't have this much trouble. I felt so much boredom and frustration. I will acknowledge it's possible that I mearly missed some stuff. However, I find it hard to believe I could spend so much time exploring the same level and barely find anything. Collectathons are a style of games I have a lot of experience with, and Yooka-Laylee is the only obe I would never play again.

@@joshhacker8503 Personally, I liked it more than Tooie. A lot of Yooka's problems are problems Tooie has. I'll talk about those games at some point.

@@Pariah6950 I look forward to it👍 I enjoy your reviews, and can honestly say I have seen some games in a new light after watching. Maybe you can highlight sone of the better parts of Yooka I never saw. I will never deny Banjo-Tooie has problems. I replayed those games a lot over the years, and I definitely see the flaws. Hell, I fully admit it has one of my most hated quests in all of gaming (bringing food tobthe cavemen) purely because of the amount of time spent to get 1 Jiggy. That said, I have always been able to accept the flaws easier because I'm still having fun for 90% of that game. I'm just speaking frommy own personal experience. Yooka-Laylee was the first time I can honestly say I didn't have fun. I wasn't hooked in like I normally am, and the search for more first level objectives became less about playing the game and more about fighting boredom. By the time I ended the stream, I genuinely couldn't believe how empty the early part of the game felt. I actually went back and replayed a larg sample of collectathon games in my collection just to be sure I wasn't looking back through rose tinted glasses. I had a little marathon of the early parts of these games (The Banjo games, The 3D Mario games, Jak and Daxter, Donkey Kong 64, Ect.) In every case, I had plenty to do, and it didn't lead to me running around the same level gor an hour (give or take) just hoping to find more quests, npcs or random objects. I am very thorough with these games, so even if it's one I haven't played in a while it doesn't take long for me to find stuff. If other people like the game, then more power to them. I base my feelings on it purely on how much fun I had, and there was not a lot to be had. At certain points during my steam I honestly was close to calling it quits. I have to stick to my guns on this one.

Your comparison to Sonic with the "big epic awesome shit" makes me want to ask- considering your stance on modern games and updates and "playing a game at launch almost always gives you the worst experience", now that SEGA's announced three free update waves for Sonic Frontiers containing pretty big shit and then a MASSIVE one at the end with new playable characters and what seems to be an epilogue, will you be waiting until all that is out and patched to stability to do a Sonic Was Always Good on the game, or is it just, "once I've done Forces and TSR, I'll just do Frontiers then even if it's still got content updates coming"?
