Funny enough, she met a guy who treated her the exact same way, telling her to cut out some very old best friends because one was a guy and another was a lesbian, lmao, like a month into them dating. **WARNING! LONG POST** Story 1 (which I believe he may have covered on this channel before...) made me think of another story from a different channel (Jay Mick, I believe?) about an OP accusing her BF of cheating and then he dumps her. It was later revealed that she used his Reddit account to make a post about him, but the comments kept pointing out how she was leaving out a lot of details and telling her that if he wanted to break up, let him but she says "no." Then, BF himself comes in and reveals a few things: 1. He and "Becca" dated in high school, but broke up due to her wanting to sleep around in college (which Becca covered up by saying "for some reasons"). 2. Becca essentially stalked the dude to his college and badgered him relentlessly to get him to take her back, which he did after a few months (big mistake there...). 3. Becca was extremely paranoid about BF possibly cheating on her, but revelled in getting attention from guys, but always says that "she won't do anything." 4. The girl Becca saw him with was a coworker who was dealing with an abusive ex-boyfriend and he was with her to help calm her down. 5. Becca stormed into the restaurant that the two were at and started screaming at/insulting the coworker so much that she (coworker) ran out of fear. At this point, BF had enough and after driving her home, he dumped Becca on the spot and drove away.

Story 1. 6 months and OP thinks she can control her boyfriends relationships. Hell, I've been married 30 years, and my husband and I do not dictate or control outside relationships!

As a crafter myself I just cringed my entire way through that first story and felt so bad for the SIL. Nearly everyone in my life (including my boyfriend's family members and friends) have received handmade gifts from me at some point or another, but there's just not enough time to make something for everyone every single holiday. The SIL was more than accommodating in explaining the situation and honestly way nicer than I probably would have been. If someone pulled that shit on me I'd be pretty upset with them. I hope OP does seek help after this and is genuine in her desire to change.

Story 1: I feel so bad for OP. They need a lot of help. I do get where they were coming from though; it was a weird scenario to only give OP's boyfriend a gift, but I mean it was iN FRONT of the brother/husband so that would reassure me. Poor OP. I really respect the SIL; they handled it beautifully and even was still respectful when OP said the divorce comment

Mark's comments about poppy after the second story reminded me about a pair of cats I had years ago that used to love going on walks (yes, I walked my cats, harness and all) one of which did it for attention from strangers since she loved getting pets and would pull me over to people to try and get attention and plop down and start rolling around to ask for belly rubs, was really hard to get her to leave if she was getting attention. She's since passed, I miss that cat. On the plus side a bunch of my neighbors ended up getting Calico cats due to how friendly she was, and how much their kids loved her.

S1: the fact that the husband was just as excited is telling. This wasn’t a way to push OP out, this was a kind gesture that they both seemed excited to give. I started to see OPs point for a quick second, but I listened and heard how excited the brother was. OP is insecure af. It’s a plushie, not jewelry or something like that. OPs mom set her up for failure, and now I feel bad. Fitting in takes time, and it hasn’t even been a year. The SIL was so sweet! And everything she said was 100% correct! OP definitely needs to work on herself - and maybe get away from her family.

Story 1 - your insecurity and toxicity is showing. I am the one who buys/makes gifts for my husband's family which is from both of us. She even said that the brother was excited to give it to him as well and had no issues with it. She needs to take her cues from him if she cant figure it out on her own.

Random Story Time; my sister fed my insecurities even when I was lc(low contact) with her up until I was 15 or 16, which was when I decided to work on myself. Now Im extremely low contact with her. The point of this is OP is absolutely insane in Story 1, but I have hope with the update that she can change her ways and work on her insecurities before even thinking about another relationship.

Story 1 During the period of being single as well as being married, I have from to to time received gifts, plush hand made toy to expensive whiskey, books ,home made scarves.Nothing inappropriate was thought of them by myself or my wife.I think OP needs to drop her relationship with her family completely, and get herself professionally help. Then one day she’ll be able to have a healthy relationship, wishing her all the best.

Yeah, story 1 is ridiculous. It took me 2 months to design and sew a baby quilt and that's with spending all my free time on it. Just thinking of what it took to create the pattern for the plush alone makes me anxious. It's very likely that there was no time. And I barely knew this person on my end, I just enjoy my craft.

S1- Whoa she's 26?! My 17-year-old self was cringing at the immaturity and insecurity throughout the entire post. "It's like the rest of the family are on some pedestal", no??? They are treated differently and with more closeness as they are spouses of YEARS and you are a gf of a few months, you would have gotten there too if you just waited and treated them with respect.

Story 1: Wow, What makes you think she didn't make one for her husband? Maybe he got his at their home, and he was excited to see his brother get his as well. They are literally family and it is perfectly normal to buy or make family (even In-Laws) gifts. Your mom and sister are also AH, for stoking your insecurities. Story 1 (update): Sad that it took all this for you to see yourself as the problem. It would be a good idea to seek therapy, and get over your issues before you try to date again. Seeing as you have started to realize your family is toxic, it shouldn't take long,

Soft YTA. I was also raised in a traditional household for context Asian and Christian) where there are clearly defined 'rules' on how girls should behave, think, speak, etc, so I get how hard it is when 'how you were raised' and your beliefs are being challenged. Life lessons are always tough to swallow. I do feel bad for OP, and while I can see why you'd be judged the AH, she's operating within her worldview which is being challenged in this situation which triggered her insecurities stemming from that worldview. I am glad that she had an "AHA!" moment after she blurted out the last thing she had said to the SIL, apologized for it, and then realized how toxic her worldview was after being broken up with. Unfortunately, OP has to learn this hard lesson that life had to throw at her and being in this relationship and being around the Boyfriend's family reflected her insecurities and exposed her family's toxic worldview and perceptions on how each gender should act in a relationship that she had been conditioned to accept growing up. It would be a different story if this was a repeated behavior and a lifestyle without any self-awareness on how acting on insecurities will almost always lead to a break up. I wish OP all the best and much detoxing.

Story 2- NTA. Shop owner here. Op did exactly what they were supposed to do in cleaning up after their dog. The owner had no need to interject other than to just be an unnecessary aggressor. Had OP not cleaned up it would be a different story. My business is in a resort town meaning we get a lot of people from all over the place. We absolutely love dogs and always keep treats as well as extra poop bags at the ready in case someone forgot or ran out. You can always tell who intentionally doesn't want to pick up and who honestly just forgot when you hand them a bag.

S1: The cruel irony of this story is that if only OP had seen bf's SIL as a family member, she could have learned so much from this woman (and maybe even saved her relationship). The thing that she failed to see is that SIL was trying to save OP's relationship. This is the only reason she could have to reach out to OP, since she knew that OP's bf was frustrated with her and on the brink of breaking up. And if that was about to happen, SIL and OP would probably never see each other again. She was actually doing the opposite of "pushing her out". S2: TDITA (The Dog Is The Asshole). Story 1: I think OP's mom needs a reality check. The reason OP's dad probably isn't mentioned much is that the mom is exactly like OP, and the dad just stays out of the way so her mother can be overly possessive. story 1: It's just so sad that OP's mom and sister are so toxic that they taught her toxic things that she never questioned and just accepted as normal. It's not really possible to tell if OP has any mild anxiety disorders or lowkey disorders of the Clusters of Bees, as opposed to an ingrained taught habit, I mean both things might be true at the same time, but BF was right to break up with her, as OP still really hadn't learned her lesson by the time she'd finished the convo with SiL. She does need to work on herself, therapy STAT, to undo the damage done by Mommy Dearest who probably IS a cluster of bees and possibly sister too (or just ingrained habit like OP). At least at the end OP realized the garbage her mom instilled in her was toxic nonsense.

Story 1: I remember this story! Although in truth i thought there would be some timelapse update of how that lady is doing. Something that I didn't catch the first time I heard this story, the SIL only told the ex-boyfriend to talk to OP. So he never heard of how crazy the she is, but "go talk to her" was just enough to convince him to leave OP if SIL had nothing (nice) to say about her. Hopefully, OP does get the help she needs and cut contact with her family.

Story 1: I've witnessed this kind of love between my best friend's family and her SIL. She is essentially a sister to my best friend and her twin, which is wonderful because it actually brought all three siblings closer together. Her parents treat SIL like their own child, and vice-versa. It's such a joy to see. I don't understand OP's jealousy at all. ETA: I really hope OP can cling to that moment of clarity and get some space from her family. Their toxicity is a bad influence. I hope she gets a therapist and can break the cycle.
