@fishofgold65533 жыл бұрын
@@electri2024 " literally no verifiable study for it" is not the same thing as a treatment method being 'crap'/untrue. It just means that it hasn't been researched and tested to the HIGHEST standard yet. Many people, especially in the orthodontic community, expect the Mews to come up with 'proof' of their beliefs, but, according to the Mews themselves, very few people are willing to collaborate with them to research oral posture and orthotropics. Plus, the Mews don't just advocate for good oral posture (aka 'mewing'). They use a treatment system that involves the use of the Biobloc appliance (not the same thing as braces) to expand and advance the jaws rather than just push the teeth into alignment. This whole topic is far more complex than any of the surface- level videos and articles you find on the internet will tell you. You can find case reports of their on their website and their KZbin channel, which I find compelling. You can truly SEE improvements in the facial forms of patients. I will add that the idea that good oral posture/orthotropics improves the shape of the face makes sense to me because I am convinced that POOR oral posture (i.e. mouth-breathing) causes a poor facial shape and maloclussion. It happened to me and to a number of monkeys in studies done by Dr. Egil Harvold in the 1980s. It anatomically makes sense that the facial bones need physical support from the muscles in order to grow properly. I am convinced that modern people's faces are no longer correctly shaped and that this, and the malocclusion that comes with it, are NOT genetically inherited problems, but are man-made. buteykoclinic.com/docs/Primate-Experiments-on-Oral-Respiration-Harvold.pdf#:~:text=Animal%20experiments%20in%20this%20laboratory%20s-5%20have%20shown,in%20both%20the%20facial%20skeleton%20and%20the%20dentition.

@@fishofgold6553 I'd suggest taking your tinfoil hat off and stop spamming misinformation. Good oral posture is important, but if your teeth are crooked or you have some other genetic jaw/tooth problem, braces (and expanders in some cases) are your only option of getting straight teeth. It's the cold, hard truth.
@fishofgold65533 жыл бұрын
@@lovelydolltime8006 Good oral posture is not just important. It's essential. Plus, genetics explains only a few cases of malocclusion. It cannot account for the epidemic we see today. I partially agree with what you say about appliances. I never said I was against all appliances, but I am against retractive appliances, such as braces. Their usage should be minimised and closely monitored to prevent them from causing facial deformation. At best, I could accept them being used for small adjustments to the dental arches. The human face was never meant to be retracted. If you look at the best-looking people, it's clear that the human face is meant to grow forward, not downward like it extremely often does in modern societies. Back to the main point, I believe that appliances ARE necessary. I never said they weren't. It's clear to me that, in modern times, many people's faces are so misshapen that they simply MUST use expansion appliances in addition to good oral posture. Some people don't even have enough space on the upper palate to place the tongue on it, thus they can't even have good oral posture unless their jaws are expanded and/or advanced first with an appliance. Where you and I disagree is on the best TYPE of appliance. I think those that expand and advance the jaws AND correct oral posture are clearly superior to the traditional braces, plates and retainers and especially the retractive headgear.

I have been wondering about how to fix my midline alignment so this was just the video I needed! Thanks!
@priscillacasas41273 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I’m going through right now. My midline is off because I had a baby tooth that didn’t want to fall out, the permanent tooth on the right lateral incisor started growing in (shark tooth). The baby tooth finally fell out, the permanent tooth grew out of position. It appeared like I had a gap, the right central incisor started moving to the right where the space was. I had braces in high school, but not a good Orthodontist. My teeth were straight but I was left with black triangles and midline was off. At 40 I’m doing braces again due to not wearing my retainer. This time around I found a good Orthodontist, she has me wearing elastics, this coming Friday we’re doing IPR. My teeth look better so I’m excited. This video is well explained and we’re happy you’re back.

I'm really glad this KZbin channel exist, it help me appreciate and take care of my teeth more. I had braces and I lost my elastics, barely even used it. I'm regretting because I never thought it has a good use, I was naive. It was hassle to put on, embarrassing when someone point it out and hard to eat well. Wish I was educated properly by my dentist when I was young- I took it for granted. Yes, I don't have a good bite on one side because I didn't do my part correctly.

My midline was off because I had four baby teeth on my top row that refused to fall out, and my adult canine on my left side decided to try to push in anyway, causing the side tooth to push sideways on my front tooth (making a snuggle tooth), and it caused my front teeth to push to the right. This was a problem for a while, but I finally got dental insurance last year and had the four baby teeth extracted last june (at 28 years old!). I started braces last July, and they used coil springs to hold the spaces for my impacted canines. The one that had already tried to push in is now in it's correct place, but the other one hasn't come in yet, so I had an expose and bond done two weeks ago to hopefully bring down my impacted canine. My midline is good now though, on top. The bottom midline is still being worked on, which was due to baby teeth that had fallen out in my 20s.

I have the same issue as well, however I never have a midline problem BEFORE I got braces, after I got braces, my lower teeth looks like it have been shifted to the left, which is utterly noticeable if I smile. I also have an underbite. My 2nd issue is that my canine has a gap next to the lateral incisor and first premolar, which makes my canine have this space in between those teeth. And according to my orthodontist I have few months left till my braces will be remove and I'm still not satisfied with my braces because due to the pandemic I have missed appointments, however I just got back last month. I was also hoping for elastics because this issue of mine makes me conscious whenever I smile because it looks like my bottom teeth doesn't sit right. Up until now I'm still not have been given elastics. I don't know how to explain this to my orthodontist, I need help.

I have a midline issue caused by a molar that was extracted on the upper jaw at the left side about 13yrs ago. In 2018, I noticed that my teeth on the upper jaw shifted towards the extracted space leaving an off-midline. In 2019, I decided to have braces because of this, I don't have any issue aside from the midline. The dentist told me that he will extract another molar at the right side so we can pull all the teeth to the right. But he didn't extract until a year later because he wanted to soften the gums first. Due to the pandemic, the extraction was moved and it only got extracted on September 2021. After that, he then put a coil spring to move one tooth at a time to the right and then on succeeding months he just used a band to pull it which I think slows down the process. It took 1 year to move a single tooth to the next position and it was just yesterday that we're now moving the next tooth. Is there any option to speed up the process? I can't wait 1 year just to move a single tooth. From what I'm seeing, I'll be waiting for 5-6 years before every tooth will fall into place. Do you have any recommendations? I will appreciate it a lot.

@@seth9577 Ok. I learned this information from Drs John and Mike Mew. They are orthodontists in London and they have a YT channel called 'Orthotropics'. I have learned from them that a person's facial shape and the straightness of the teeth are NOT primarily genetically inherited. They are actually determined mainly by oral posture (mouth posture). It's clear that our faces, in modern world, are no longer correctly shaped. This is mainly because people leave their mouths open during childhood. The human mouth has to be closed for the face to develop properly. The teeth must be together and the lips must be together to ensure the face grows FORWARD instead of DOWNWARD. Also, the tongue must be on the roof of the mouth to encourage the upper jaw to become wide enough for the teeth, in which case the lower jaw will do the same. The problem with retractive and extractive orthodontics is that it pushes the teeth BACK into alignment and this also pushes the bones of the face, not just the teeth, down and back, leading to a less attractive face and a narrower airway. Please also read, 'Jaws: The Story of a Hidden Epidemic' by Dr. Sandra Kahn and Dr. Paul Ehrlich. Read up on the author Patrick McKeown, who's a specialist in Buteyko breathing.

@@fishofgold6553 Ok. I know mewing and Im doing it since 3 years and I see improvement. My lower jaw become a little bit longer. However I had to wear braces it's been 2 months now because of crooked teeth. Anyways Im still mewing but I ask this question several times and doctor mew said you do not need to rest your teeth together. I just keep them closer.

I have an asymmetry causing my bottom midline to be off .I just started my braces journey but I'm hoping that I won't need an extraction

Does fixing mid line with elastic also reduce my overbite (or overjet, sry idk the exact term)??? My bite is exactly the same, class 1 on the right but class 2 on the left (not severe, exactly the same bite at 7:18) and mid line is off. My front teeth have a bit of overjet/overbite (may be 3 to 4mm). My teeth are not crowded either. And i want to tell my story a bit. Im already into 4 months of my brace journey. I decided to have braces bcos i thought i have overjet/overbite. My ortho extracted my upper premolars jus bcos i have no room without warning the effect of extraction of premolars and i believed him. Now im stressing out everyday after reading down side of premolar extraction and this is killing my mental health! !!! Extraction of lower premolars haven't done yet but soon cos i insisted to postpone it if possible. Im 23, have small face and small chin. Did my case really need extraction or did my ortho decide so carelessly? All i wanted is to fix my front teeth a bit. HELP i guess i still have time to change ortho or go for another treatment plan 😭

Hello. What my orthodontist is doing is a single sided CS5 spring. This spring is attached directly to the arch wire on the top and the bottom . It pulls my lower jaw back and is helping line up my midlines. On the other side is an elastic.

My midline was perfect before braces. I’m 10 months in, and my mid lines are now off. They estimated in February that I’d be able to get them off in August, but I can’t imagine I would be ready by then. What happens when orthodontics is the cause of the midline being off?

Can you explain how looking at the root canal and getting X-rays done will let the orthodontist figure out how much time you have left with braces and how more long you’re treatment will be because my next appointment the orthodontist will do X-rays and based on the root canal will try give me a specific time of how much longer I need braces. And maybe explain why taking X-rays are important and the purpose of how a detailed X-ray can be used to figure approximately treatment time and more on root canals.

My upper midline is towards the right side while my bottom is in the correct place. It used to be the other way around but I had to get extractions and etc. My ortho wants me to wear my rubber bands going across over my spaces are closed. I can’t wait for my braces to be off. I had an impacted canine n the left side. I had a class 3 bite but now it’s a class 2 bite.

Hello! I love your videos! Can you explain why I’m getting gaps in my teeth during my treatment? I never had any teeth extracted. I never had gaps. I actually have over crowding. I’ve had braces for over 3 weeks and I’m seeing a gap getting bigger and bigger every day. I’ve seen your videos about the triangle teeth and why we would have that triangle gap but that’s not what is happing. It’s literally a gap. What’s going on? I’m worried 😟 thank you for your videos they help a lot.

IPR is the only way my orhto knows how to fix a midline. She says that rubber bands cannot fix the issue. I am missing my adult tooth and teeth shifted to left side. Hopefully we can do more IPR to move them. Now that my bite is correct she doesn't really want to do that tho. I am not gonna take my braces off until my teeth are symetrical. I wish you were my ortho. I think i will show her your channel lol :D

This video was helpful. For my bottom teeth I’m missing an incisor, so instead of 4 I have 3, this is due to some other natural cause. My orthodontist was talking about how they can fix my overbite but not completely due to how my teeth are. Sad truth, but I don’t think it would be THAT noticeable

How important is an aligned midline? I'm getting towards the end of my treatment and in fixing my bite, my midline is now a bit off. Is this just an aesthetic concern or could it cause functional issues?

Why do my top back teeth (not wisdom) not have brackets and aren’t connected with a wire? Compared to the teeth in front of it, they look a little rotated.
