This is the problem with marx's dialectical materialism. Once you adopt it to analyse social situations applying its formula , you will be trapped in a compartment. Difficult to come out. Even the great bertrand russel confessed he found it difficult to shed it. The author suffers from it. He is right in one point. The colonial propaganda that brahmins are responsible for inequality is losing its sheen under modiji. Brahmins have never been the ruling elite or merchant rich. That was barred for them., from the very beginning. True brahmins have always been like kuchela in our puranas. Always at the mercy of kings or rich. Some kings chose to have them as advisors. Ordinary brahmins suffered the same slavery under moghuls and before that even under buddhist and jain kings. Since they were the priests crores of brahmins have been killed during islamic raid in temples while they were defending the temples. It is the brahmins who led the independence movement against british and the communist movement. There were hardly 1% brahmins who were rich enough to cause any harm to others in indian history. It is the kshatriya and vysya castes who did the exploitation both physically and economically. This intreview does not give the correct perspective about indian caste question. It is not land distribution which is the solution. Many retired dalit govt/public sector executives own lands. Go and talk to them. They will be exploiting the agricukture worker in the same way what the obc land lords are doing. Empowerimg the peasant and agriculture worker can be done in india only if agriculture as a more profitable venture. Otherwise which empowered dalit will take to farming. It requires political will and no.political party has it now. Will the communist party in kerala give free tractors/modern agriculture implements or atleast easily afcordable lease to poor dalit peasants atleast. Or will they give cost of living indexed minimum wages to poor peasants and agricultural labourers and da linked pension to poor old peasants. Or atleast free medical insurance covering all costs including transportation to state of art hospitals. That is what developed countries are doing. From each according to his ability; to each according to his need - that is communism. That is an utopia. Atleast have a truly wrlfare driven state capitalism. It is realisable in india if political parties, whether left right or centre have the political will.
