I first heard this song on NHL 2004 when I was 15. I ripped this off of youtube and listened to it alone in my room at the cancer clinic as I recovered from treatments for bone cancer in 2010. Listening to this made me smile for the first time in a long time, because I felt that solitude of being 15 again and I didn't feel alone anymore.

Just like me, at 36 years old I keep listening to it right now while I'm working. I am from Peru, how curious that someone of the same age on the other side of the continent does the same.

I lost my brother to suicide in 2014. Brand New was his favorite band. I lament not playing their songs more with him. This song hit home as he dedicated it to his wife who crushed his heart after only a single year of marriage. I cherish this song and others by the band as one of my only last connections with him. Rest in peace Benjamin Karl. I love you.

This is the best acoustic version there is for this song for you history bunks.👍If you can find a refined version of this you are blessed. God bless, we are millennials.

And I still love you guys. As an adult. As a mother. Nothing changes over the years. Life gets harder, the lyrics begin to mean something different, you get tired. And the same lyrics that made you cry over your highschool relationship still make you cry over your adult marriage.

You're so right. That's the beauty of music i think, the words, the sound it never changes, but your perception?> it can change all of the time. x

Literally same. I remember getting cheated on my sophomore year and weeping in my bed to this song and many others and now as an adult with a career, 2 cars, a partner and a 2 year old the same songs evoke the same emotion. Possibly even stronger because of the nostalgia and the emotional growth. Hope things are good for you

Don't usually comment, but it's been a rough couple weeks. This song came to mind today. Forgot how uplifting (in its own way) and nostalgic this song is. I guess the best feeling is seeing all the love folks exhibit after being reminded of simpler times. Never gets old when a music hits folks in same way🤙

We saw the western coast I saw the hospital Nursed the shoreline like a wound Reports of lover's tryst Were neither clear nor descript We kept it safe and slow The quiet things that no one ever knows [Chorus: x2] So keep the blood in your head And keep your feet on the ground If today's the day it gets tired Today's the day we drop out Gave up my body and bed All for an empty hotel Wasting words on lower cases and capitals I contemplate the day we wed Your friends are boring me to death Your veil is ruined in the rain By then it's you I can do without There's nothing new to talk about And though our kids are blessed Their parents let them shoulder all the blame [Chorus: x2] So keep the blood in your head And keep your feet on the ground If today's the day it gets tired Today's the day we drop out Gave up my body and bed All for an empty hotel Wasting words on lower cases and capitals [Bridge: x2] I lie for only you And I lie well... Hallelu... [Chorus: x2 (words from bridge continued in the background)] So keep the blood in your head And keep your feet on the ground Today's the day it gets tired Today's the day we drop out Gave up my body and bed All for an empty hotel Wasting words on lower cases and capitals
