I really love the writing in this game. Velvet isn’t just some edgy shadow the hedgehog-type character. Her rare moments of kindness humanize what would otherwise be a simple rage-fueled murderer. She’s also shown to be calculating, never idiotically running into a situation without a plan. That goes for the rest of the party too. Nobody acts stupid in order to advance the plot. It’s also just refreshing to play a JRPG where the end goal isn’t to save the world, but instead to fulfill the characters’ selfish desires. It makes every plot point more personal and kept me invested. It’s a shame Berseria didn’t get an anime adaption beyond 2 episodes in Zestiria the X that barely cover the prologue.

We play her as the protagonist but on story she is the antagonist that fight the savior or the world she get the tittle of the first lord of calamity on the game and on Zestiria you will play as a hero who fight the next generation of lord of calamity, this my favorite Tales series of all the time after Zestiria i recommend you should play this first before playing Zestiria if you want to know the plot more and the gameplay is fantastic

Velvet is not the Antognist, she's the tragic heroine hellbent on revenge. She has no allegiance to neither good nor evil and even states she doesnt care about anything else but her revenge.

@@haydenbennett3547 she's not the antagonist of her story and eventually does the right thing but to the world and everyone in it she is a monster and she doesn't care who she hurts for quite a bit of the game. She starts out very much like an antagonist in any normal story would. In most games she would be a boss you need to fight for about 50% of the game until she has a revelation and comes to her senses more as she travels

She is the protag but at the same time , she is actually the antagonist, and btw this is a prequel of Zestiria. She is named as the Lord of Calamity - and the guy she fights in the OP is the shepherd [ or called hero in some other games] .In contrast , Sorey, the MC of Zestiria is the shepherd and his goal is to defeat the lord of calamity .

*Tales of Berseria* "This is My Way of Life" Another fun one and one that is high up for many. The main topic can be said as: Will & Reason. But other things like Redemption / Blind Faith / What it means to live. This game is a prequel to Tales of Zestiria, taking place 1000 years before it. (And Symphonia takes place 4000 years before Phantasia!) As ALL Tales' games do, we have another wonderful cast of characters. A girl turned demon, a samurai, a pirate, a jester etc. Tales protagonists are always pretty good, and our beloved protagonist here is Velvet Crowe, the girl in red/black. A once nice girl turned into a vengeful one track mind demon edgelord. (But not in a bad way). But despite her ways of looking tough or badass, she's more of an emotional wreck who just wants to be happy. As for Tales openings, you still got: Tales of Arise Opening 1 Tales of Arise Opening 2 Tales of Destiny DC Tales of Innocence DS Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Then there's more openings like the Symphonia anime, Tales of Crestoria, Tales of VS (Be Your Wings) etc.

Well Velvet is both the antagonist and protagonist and her lovely band of misfits are the best Tales cast in my opinion. Also Tales have some spinoffs that have some nice OPs like Symphonia 2, Rays, and Radiant Mythology.

Well she is called Velvet Crowe. She is the protagonist of Berseria. And she also kinda is the bad girl, since she is the lord of calamity (most powerful evil force actually). But it's how she became it and how she acts even after becoming the mord of calamity, what makes u question good and evil. And she also has by far the best voice actress ever. You should check out some of her lines in youtube videos. Her work and skills as voice actress are insane

The thing i loved about this game over others kinda is that you are bad guys. Every single party member besides like 1 are pretty much "bad guys" in terms of the world and how they're viewed.

Hey bro its me.... I've been watching you Tales reaction and I must say pretty good so far. Anyway, like your playthrough rules NO SPOILERS but I will clarify somethings: 1. The main female character is named "Velvet Crow" ... probably one of the BEST characters in the series along side "Millia" from 'Tales of Xillia' 2. Unlike most of the main characters in the series, Velvet is sort of what you'd call an "Avenger" or Anti-Hero of the story in a sense but it's your call to play thru the game to learn more of that

I've only played 3 tales of Series which are Tales of the world 1, Zestiria and Berseria. And Berseria is my favorite so far. I like velvet's story more than Sorey's. I plan to play Vesperia later on. I got it on nintendo eshop sale.

I don't think I could disagree harder. Everybody's entitled to their opinion, granted, but I found Velvet to be the singular most insufferable protagonist of any game I've ever played, not even just tales games. None of her motivations made any logical sense. At no point is her desire for vengeance justified. And she acts like a whiny baby for the majority of the game. I detest her. The only characters that make the game worth playing for me are Eizen, Magilou, Rokurou (and his brother), and artorious himself. Velvet is damn near a reason not to play it at all.
