I’ve had a brand new Les Paul Jr. kit in my shop in the box for a few years… after watching this video, guess what I’m doing this weekend!!! Oh look, Brad Angove commented! So, the tone is not going to be affected with a semi-hollow body. Electric guitars are, mmm, 95%-ish controlled by the electronics. Proof of that is people who build guitars out of the most gawd-awful material (colored pencils, recycled plastic, license plates, pallet wood) and they sound great. This build is one that makes me happy and want to cheer you on and sad that I'm not building and finishing guitars any more. I'm pretty sure my ex didn't like me working on guitars even though it was SO fun! I did a re-saw of a body I built. Top was mesquite wood and body was ash. Pickup pockets were pre-cut and the re-saw totally ripped up the thin walls of the cavities. The guy who cut it felt bad, I didn't. In the future, make a blank to put in the cavities before re-sawing. I like your project. Hope it wins! I bet after the brass "ages" it will start to take on a changing patina and look.

If you're afraid of bees, use a spray bottle with water and spray the water over the bee in the air. When these fine waterdrops hit the bee, it's thinking it begins to rain and rushes at home... And the other bees around follow... Also it didn't makes them aggressiv, what mostly will end with a sting. Works also great with hornets, bumblebees, more agressive wasp, etc... BTW: great build and good playing, like the look.

Just a few observations that you may want to consider. You didn't show much of the wiring and shielding but here are my suggestions. First: the backs of the cavity covers should also be shielding with the shielding tape. Second: The shielding tape should come onto the lip of the cavity as to be in contact with the tape in the cavity when cover is screwed on. Third: You need to connect each cavity's shielding with the other cavities shielding. Meaning solder a ground wire to the toggle switch cavity shielding and run it to the neck pickup cavity and solder it. Then solder another ground wire to the neck pickup cavity shielding and run it to the bridge pickup cavity and solder. Then run a ground wire from the bridge pickup cavity(soldered, of course) to the electronic cavity and solder it to the shielding. Then, finally, solder a ground wire to the back of the volume pot and solder the other end to the shielding in the electronics cavity. Doing all this will take any hum and send it through the ground and get rid of it.
