This also explains why Gus was suspicious of getting back into his car at the hospital after Jessie told him that Brock was poisoned. Since Gus didnt poison him, he knew this was highly suspicious and figured out that he might have been lured to the hospital. Which essentially is true. There is one thing: See, Walter(not Bryan Cranston) is a BAD actor, every time he lies it was obvious, him being a bad actor is a rule of BB universe, and the screenwriters broke their own rule to trick us. In that particular moment he suddenly becomes phenomenal at acting that skit out for Jesse. However, It can be chalked up to death threat. Its so well done. You can very subtly see Huell pocket it after frisking Jesse. Walt is not seen or heard from between Skyler leaving the house and Jesse confronting him. "YOU DONT EVEN BELIEVE THAT!" in hindsight is blatant gaslighting. Gus operation spent the entirety of S4 pushing Walt into a corner, trying to make him feel small and completely under their control, not realising how far he could go if pushed that far. And things ironically lined up perfectly for Walt: no Mike, Hector pushed so far hes willing to die if it means Gus dies too, Jesse being that angry with him ironically making it work better to flip his emotions around. Walter is the true villain of this world.
@Mikehrmantrautaynibenya8 ай бұрын
Remember, the only reason for all of this was because Combo got shot. Think about it, if Combo hadn't been shot, Jesse wouldn't have sought revenge and everything would have been fine. And Walter wasn't going to fall out things off with Gus to save Jesse. We call this the butterfly effect. This shows how high quality the series is. An incident that took place in the second season was not forgotten and remained effective until the season 4 finale.

Remember how Saul used to go see Brock to pay their rent with Jesse's money? The thought is that Walt put it in a juice box or something and Saul went to visit Brock somewhere and gave it to him

Because Walt saw the lily of the valley plant that he had and the gun pointed to it and he knew that he could make Jesse think that Gus poisoned Brock and he could get Jesse back on his side to help him get Gus because he knows Jesse cares too much about kids and he knows that Lily of the valley,if given the right amount will just make him sick enough to be in the hospital but not kill him but he had to get Saul to lift the Ricin cigarette so Jesse would think it was the Ricin that poisoned him.
@Adam_Bombz8 ай бұрын
The ending of Face Off is one of the greatest twists if this show, and of TV in general. Still many more twists to come. 28:10 The way Walt most likely gave Brock the ricin was explained by the show creator Vince Gilligan at Comic Con 2013. "My writer's and I would always tell the story to ourselves of "The Evil Juice Box Man". The way we worked it out in our timeline, he had just enough time to do it, but it would've been very tricky indeed. It was improbable perhaps, but not impossible that he could've once he got that idea spinning the pistol, and sitting out by the pool and waiting to die essentially, and then looking at that Lily of the Valley. Contemplating the idea at that point, I think probably what he did is he kind of crushed some of this stuff up, put it in a juice box or something, being a guy who's a teacher he knows his way around a school, probably got into Brock's nursery school, swapped out. That's our sort of inner fiction, inner story the writer's and I for how it happened. But it would've been tricky timing, but he was a very motivated individual at that point, he had to save his family. So that's my best guess on how it actually happened."

The producers did not think there was any chance of cancelation after Season 4. In fact, the season was praised as one of the best seasons in television history. Time listed Walter White's "I am the one who knocks" line as one of the best television lines ever. But both halves of the fifth season received overwhelming critical acclaim and took it to a whole other level and particularly contained the best episode of any television series in history. It won BEST DRAMA at the Emmys for BOTH Part 1 AND Part 2 of Season 5. It had been nominated for all the other seasons, but it hadn't won even though Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, and Aaron Paul all won multiple Best Acting Emmys.

The reason this episode feels like an end is because it was created as a contingency to wrap up the series if AMC did not pick it up for another season. In cable, the production company assumes the majority of the production finances for the first four seasons, but if a show lasts more than four seasons, the majority of the production finances then shift to the network that is airing the show. Madmen, another show AMC was airing around the same time, ran into an issue with the network not wanting to pay additional costs for production and upping contracts to keep it going. That series went on hiatus for almost two years until they could hammer out a new deal. And part of AMC's cost-cutting measure to funnel money to Madmen was also to fire Frank Darabont from The Walking Dead (he developed it for television), which itself was already hugely popular show for the network heading into only their second season, as well as filming almost the entire second season at one location to save on building sets and location expenses. The creators of Breaking Bad didn't want to deal with anything if AMC tried to hold up a fifth season, so they made this episode as a way to resolve as many lingering plots as possible, while also ending the series with a teaser for a potential 5th season return. They also took interest from Netflix, who had acquired the streaming rights and wished to move the show over there, if AMC decided not to continue with the show. Ultimately, AMC agreed to a fifth (final) season of 16 episodes, bumping up the episode count to an additional three beyond the previous three seasons... but AMC then decided to split the episodes in half and hold back the final eight for another year, thus making two half-seasons that they could milk for another year. On a side note, Darabont later sued AMC and 10 years later walked away with a $200 million settlement.

It's even a callback all the way back to 0201 with the two-faced, one-eyed teddy bear from the cold open. Farewell Gus 👋 you were one of the best to ever do it. Gus' death: impressive. Lily of the valley reveal: mind blown 🤯🤯 For the first time in the series the audience gets to feel what it's like to be manipulated by Walter- firsthand, successfully, with the exception of the minority who guessed it right most likely when Gus stopped walking towards his car in the parking garage. slow burn set up???? 🫣

@@nerdymarriedcouple I think the turning point is that during the break before Season 4, the first three seasons dropped on Netflix. Suddenly the show got a whole new audience of people who could binge watch multiple episodes at once, and it turns out that even though this was produced as a traditional one-episode-per-week series on old fashioned "linear" cable television, it turns out to have been one of the binge-able shows ever made, way more addictively geared towards multiple-episode viewing than even most Netflix shows specifically made to be viewed that way. So while Season Three ended with the show being right on the bubble ratings-wise with Netflix just barely agreeing to renew it due mostly from all the praise it kept getting from the critics, By the time Season Four premièred the show had a huge new Netflix audience raring to go (and for whom all the cliffhanger endings with a week-long wait until a resolution were about to be a very tough adjustment). So that while Season 4, including it's ending, were written under the assumption that a Season Five might well not happen, by the time the Season 4 finale aired there was absolutely no question that Netflix would be more than eager to greenlight Season 5.

The music playing as Gus walks into the nursing home is truly epic. Kailyn is right that it has a very "Western" feel like the old time Westerns of the 1950s. But it's also signaling that it's his walk of doom - that he's a dead man walking to his fate. In the previous episodes where Gus asked Hector "is today the day?" he's referring to the fact that he had always tormented Hector by saying that one day when he least expects it he will kill him. No matter how bad Hector was, it's not cool to torment a completely helpless disabled person. So when Walt comes along offering him a chance at revenge, Hector is all in.

This seemed a lot smaller in document form but here it is, a tiny fanfic I did a few years back. *Walt and Hector* Casa Tranquila, Hector's room. Walt's diaper bag sits on the floor, open. Beside it, there's a yellow pocket tool case. Walt is kneeling as he works below the wheelchair. He looks up at Hector, who eyes him with a unique expression. Walt looks back down. "I'm sorry about Tuco." He says, fiddling with a small, precision screwdriver. Hector is breathing heavier, his lip quivering, his anger at Walt hidden behind the fact that the man has literally offered him vengeance on a silver platter. "I'm sorry about the others as well," Walt adds. "I didn't know their names." Hector looks at Walter, his eyes blinking rapidly, darting over as if gesturing to something beside or behind him. Walt scans the area before seeing a framed picture on the bedside table of Hector with a young Tuco and his cousins. Walt stands, brushes his hands together, and approaches the picture. A silver Evil Eye rosary necklace is draped over it. Walt slides it off gently and picks up the frame to examine it. Removing the back panel, he sees the handwriting on the back of the photograph. It reads: 'Tío Hector, Tuco, Marco, Lionel. 1991' "Marco and Lionel." Walt says softly. He sets the photo down, draping the necklace back over the frame. "I'm sorry about what happened. It was--all Gus. I managed to figure out what his game was, but that--" Walt hears Hector's heavy breathing and turns around. Hector is glaring heavily, impatient. "Yes," Walt says absent-mindedly, shaking his head, his hands waving before him. "Sorry." He returns to work on the bomb. A minute or two of silence follows. As he finishes, he returns the yellow case to the diaper bag and stands. "You're alright doing this, you're certain of it?" Walt asks. Hector nods after a few seconds. Walt adjusts his jacket and secures the bag. As he approaches the door, he turns back to Hector. "Give him hell."

Great reaction and 2 THINGS I can clear up for you. 1. No way in this world anyone other than GUS kills Tio as long as GUS is alive!!! 2. If you rewatch the episode where Huel frisks Jessie, you can literally see the pack of cigs being taken off of Jessie and in Heul's hand. Finally, I find the "Face Off" scene having a lot of layers. One of them is a lot of people call Gus "chicken man" in this series. I find it fascinating that an actual chicken can still take steps after being literally decapitated. So Gus taking a few more steps after the bomb literally exploding in his face (then fixing his tie-typical Gus) to be very fitting and very cinematic for his final moments alive. I literally thought of this for the first time today, which is a great example of how this show can be rewatched many, many, many, times. Ive seen this entire series about a dozen times and wached several dozen reactions. You guys are doing a great job, and really enjoy this journey. When I watched this on premiere I was so afraid the show would be going downhill from what was supposed to be the perfect ending that would satisfy most of the fanbase. And after the whole thing I was perplexed of how those writers could surpass this masterpiece here...

i was going to say it last episode but thought best to wait. watch the scene again with jesse and gus in the chapel. thats how gus "knows" and doesnt go back to car. he first wants jesse to get back to lab but once he tells him he was poised gus' attitude changes. because he knows he didnt do it

It took them a long time to figure out what Gus would do in his death scene. It was Giancarlo who finally said he should fix his tie.

One of the best episodes in any show, ever! Thanks for sharing :)

I would call this episode the climax and the rest of the show the resolution.

Even Hector's bell has its own story. Bravo Vince.

Yeah Vince Gilligan confirmed in an interview that Walt went to Brocks school and gave him a poisoned juice box. As with every other reactor zero sign of you saying 'we got it badly wrong in the last episode'

"Either things get resolved or they don't, and if they don't then the rest of show is really Walter and Jesse being on the run trying to outsmart Gus". Welcome to the club of sweet summer children who thought once someone resorts to pipe bombs to get out of a scrape, that they just might see sense and want to pack it in if they get out alive. Honestly, they could have wrapped it up here so neatly with an extra twenty minutes for closure and everyone at the time was wondering the same thing "How the hell are we going to get another sixteen episodes out of this." Gus made such an impression for so long it didn't seem like the show would work without him at that point. Boy was I wrong 😅 can't wait to see your faces when Vinnie boy redefines the term "Face off" 🤣

Is there any question at this point that this is one of the best series ever created?

It's hard to get into these videos when the picture for the show is so incredibly small. There are channels out there that have it 3x bigger

Cast your minds back to the previous episode, when Walt was sat in the garden spinning that gun. The last spin ended up with it pointing to the flower pot holding that plant, Lilly of the Valley. Hold onto your hats; Season Five is the best yet, and features some of the greatest TV ever broadcast.

The magnet in the elevator cracked me up and then when Jesse said "did you just bring a bomb into a hospital?"

Blue means power. That's why it's the color of Skyler, who wore the pants in the White household before Walt's cancer struck.
