So I'm 60 yrs old, 6'1", and 170lbs. I started with an Onnit 10#, got the motion figured out to where I was very comfortable, and slowly worked my way up thru 15, 20, and 25#. When I first started, 360s with a 10# seemed so scary. 25# seemed like something that would never ever ever happen. But ... here I am! One bit of advice that might be helpful: I still like to do a few reps at 15#, and then a few reps at 20#, to loosen up and re-acquaint myself with the motion. I always find my first few reps are just a bit tight and clumsy, but that quickly goes away. Then the 25# seems much less daunting. (Meanwhile, CV does single-handed 360s with a 2 ton mace, if I'm not mistaken ;-)

Just got your Steel Mace book in the mail today, Coach Vaughn, can't wait to read it! Love your vids! Excellent instruction as always. And that one-handed 360 with that monster mace was sick!! 🤘Can't wait to get to that level one day!

Very helpful. I'm extremely new to this -- if your form isn't good, it seems to me that you could hurt either your shoulder or your elbow. I see a lot of discussion about shoulders, so I worry less about not getting that right. But is there anything special to watch out for to prevent an elbow strain?

A lot of my beginner workout videos feature exercises for those who can’t do 360s yet and learn to use the essential muscles needed to take the strain off those ligaments & tendons - like this one: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWLEiICvpt1nm5I But in my experience, people that get elbow pain do too many reps or rush the weight with mace. I’ve always kept my reps below 10-15 reps each set. I’m not a fan of people IG posting how many hundreds of pathetic reps they can do in one workout. But I have a another video here focusing on how to reduce elbow pain with maces: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHatYmOhmZKJf6s

Hey Coach Vaughn, I compete in a full contact combat sport where I use 2 handed axes...what mace exercises should I focus on for improving the functional movements for swinging/fighting?
@CoachVikingVaughn2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response. With that combat sport I would highly recommend Indian clubs more than macesm.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWPGY36EqJmhps0 You can work with Indian club doubles here too: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2PRooB4aLV-n80

Where can I get a rack for my clubs and maces
@CoachVikingVaughn2 жыл бұрын
The ones in my gym are custom made. Tornado hooks or barbell wall mount holders are another good option.
