I've been using macebells and steel clubs up to 20kg for a while. Only recently started indian clubs but im aready enjoying them and they seem way more versatile. Is there any reason I couldnt work up to doing the same range of indian club exercises with say 2-5kg steel clubs?
@CoachVikingVaughn6 күн бұрын
That's great, they'll be a solid addition to your arsenal. Regarding your question, Indian Club Training in NOT about the weight -- it's about the speed. This is why I came out with a video workout series with a Metronome app -- so you can increase your speed through the BPM with mills: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3bCpmmsashorck

Do you still recommend Tacfit for the best Steel Maces?
@CoachVikingVaughn20 күн бұрын
Honestly, Retrospec is the overall pick from what my others subscribers have told me because they’re practically the same, but the price is way more affordable. So TacFit or Retrospec is a good fit.

I got both right away a 10lb mace and 2- 2lb clubs. I didn't have any problems. Im glad I did as it helped stretch out different ligaments. The clubs helped with streching and reaching behind my back and neck. Where as the mace helped more with balance strength in my arms.

I do 15 in each top hand direction then 15 in each bottom hand direction just to cover it all, 360s and 10 to 2s. I used 15lbs for about a year and went to 25 about 2 months ago. I thought i made a mistake because it really was a big jump in weight and was hard to do but it took about a week and now the 25lb feels almost the same as the 15lb. I love the workouts. With 3 back surgeries, spinal fusion, tennis elbow surgery, arthritis in my hands, im able to do these and i feel great and have seen great results.

OK, not trying to start anything, and it looks awesome, but why not use a sledge? I have used one for years and I appreciate the weight increase of this tool, but for most folks, a sledge is a lot cheaper and easier to use. The long handle helps I admit.

One thing that has helped me with elbow pain is just squeeze a grip strength trainer. My inner elbow on both arms had tendinitis and what I found out is the tendon was real weak and the mace pulled too hard on it. I tried everything and the only thing that helped was a grip strength trainer.

everybody raves about onnit, but made in china. meh.
@CoachVikingVaughn2 ай бұрын
Trust me, I buy as much USA made stuff I can, but when I got into maces & clubs back in 2014 - Onnit was the only choice. I actually looked into making my own USA made steel maces, and economically I would go bankrupt in less than a year from material costs. It’s why you only see adjustable maces & clubs being more popular in the US, and the average cost of them is $300-400….which in my opinion is just overboard for a simple tool. So ya, many are gonna take the China made $50 mace with free Amazon shipping every time.

I have a random question. I’ve noticed looking at different steel clubs that same weights come in different lengths depending on the manufacturer. So what would be a good length for say a 15 pound club? Would there be a big difference, for example, in feel between one that’s 17 inches long versus one that’s 21 inches?
@CoachVikingVaughn2 ай бұрын
To be honest, I don’t think a couple inches with club length is going to make that big of a difference with your training - versus picking the right weight will. A 15LB is going to be enough for most male beginners, and practically everyone I coach chokes up on their club handle when evolving to single arm and double club variations. Practically all fixed weight clubs get longer in length the heavier you go. Clubs are already a short lever option in comparison to mace training where the length comes more into play with the distal load.

I bought a pair of indian clubs (2lb each) first and then got a 15 lb mace. It worked really well for me. After two weeks with clubs, I had new mobility in my shoulders I didn't know I was missing. About two weeks with the mace, I can do 360's for 6 sets of 3 minutes, and I can start to rep one handed 360's with decent control. It's been a good progression for me, though definitely humbling starting with something labeled 2 pounds
