Realistically, the problem is also that lots of people forget that they are undocumented and they are driving without a license and driving while they are drunk, I've seen it, almost causing me an accident even though I don't drink. So people need to be careful and don't put yourself in a situation where you can be arrested.

Because the US Supreme Court has ruled multiple times that all individuals in the jurisdiction of the US have basic legal rights including Due Process and Equal Protection under the law, if you are undocumented and are arrested, you'll likely be detained and have to appear in US Immigration Court for the resolution of your immigration case.

All she has to do is carry those papers around in case an Ice officer questions her. And say nothing else until her lawyer shows up. A little compassion does not hurt. If your visa is not yet expired, then you have nothing to worry about. If your visa is expired, you need to reach out to a new lawyer and go over your asylum case. Do not wait more than 1 year to file for asylum because by law, immigration judges cannot give you asylum if you file more than 1 year after arriving in the US. And you need a strong case for why you need asylum (fear of persecution due to gender, religion, political affiliation) If you have been here more than 1 year, an immigration judge can grant you withholding of removal. Again, seek a new lawyer.
