Me too!!! I was 5…and freakin loved that song. And ABBAs Fernando😋 Tho my absolute favorite was BeeGees Alive. It’s one of their more elusive songs but back in 75 they played it just long enough for me to get excited to hear it, but it didn’t last long on the charts I guess, for me to know the song name or details. It took me til like 8yrs ago to find it again- here on YT. Lyric wise it has stuck with me as relating to me 100% from 6yo, when I was convinced it was actually written FOR me, in my precocious mind. It was still my fav. thru my teens, (tho only hearing it a handful of times past the mid 70’s)…then onto adulthood and, now still. legendary words. ✌️

RIP Glen Campbell and Todd Youth! Btw, Todd is not on bass - that's a baritone guitar and it has 6 strings. Julian is on bass. When Glen says lets hear the bass guitar, he means the baritone. 2:42 Glen apparently used a baritone electric guitar on "Wichita Lineman" and "Galveston".

And the late Todd Youth on guitar. Todd was a member of several seminal early New York punk and hardcore bands. A true legend of underground music. Today (May 15, 2020) would have been Todd's 49 birthday. Gone way too soon.

I realize this is from 9 years ago, but just seeing it for the first time. To me "Times Like These" by Foo Fighters is one of the most over-played songs of the last decade. I like Foo Fighters, but the original version has become basically background noise to me. Hearing Glen Campbell's version, it's like I'm hearing the song for the first time. From now on, this is a Glen Campbell song (for me at least) and it's awesome.

You should check out Dave grohls acoustic version of times like these. It should be on KZbin. The weird thing is the first time I heard it was in a show called Jericho and they used the acoustic version and it's so much better than the studio version

great vocals! nice cover....but he seems awkward without his guitar strapped to him; he could school anyone on that stage with his guitar magic picking!! What a player he was; so underrated as a guitarist.
@Tanmag116 жыл бұрын
At this point, he probably was in the early stages of Alzheimer's and had difficulty learning new songs. Still a great vocal performance
@brentanthonisen21876 жыл бұрын
Spot on RE: Glen’s guitar skills; he was playing all the way to the end of his farewell tour after “Ghost in the Canvas” was released a few years after this -with results varying from show to show, unfortunately- but there were songs he would perform live even back during his prime in the ‘60s without his guitar, as well. He could still play at this point; the CD that includes the studio version of this includes a live version of “Wichita Lineman” where he plays an extended guitar solo that’s as good as any live performance he ever gave.
