Thank you and thank you again, for the head hat circumference measurements! I was always nervous if the hat will fit. If not, I would undo the whole hat. So, down the drain goes my 3-4 hours of work, and dont want to talk about my insecurity (Im the new one at this :) With this measurement calculation, you opened up the new world to me. Thank you a million! And I mean it.

I don't know why but I ended up with a join that went sideways lol I managed to hide it but I've got to do this tutorial a few times and see where I'm going wrong save me extra work at the end. thanks bob for a great tutorial xx

I made this hat in a solid color burgundy with a charcoal band and I love this pattern so easy to make you made it very easy to follow along. Thank you. I have to say how sad I am with this video. your such a great teacher and ive never had a problem following your work till I wanted to try this hat. the grey is such a hard color to see on the video and then the light grey color you didn't even do 3 rows so we could understand and see the rows better. you just left us on our own I'm so frustrated that I cant see the brick pattern or how the stiches should look. make another video using brighter colors so we can see where the stiches should go. please.

how do you manage your colour changes? i'm always awed by the cool effects you are able to come up with just by colour changing alone. Do you have some sort of formula for colour changing too?

When you start the crown of the hat - I'm reading your written pattern- do you work in the space between each stitch? Or like, right on top of the stitch in the previous row. If that makes any sense at all.

When you finished the first row, I didn't see you chain one after the double crochet, before you connected. That must be why you had that bunched yarn.

In canada a 4.5 hook is called a 7 there isnt a letter assigned to it i believe.

I'm using a large needle (N) and thick yarn. The hat keeps getting wider and isn't fitted. How do I fix it? Should I just start over? I did make the crown the right dimensions. Thanks!

not sure if I will get a response soon enough got all the way to brim and its too loose for me not sure for the person I am making it for.any ideas on adjusting without ripping it all out. I used bulky yarn and larger hook

Hello Heather, 8ply and worsted are a different thickness 8ply will use a 4mm/G hook and a worsted uses a 5.5mm/I hook Can I ask you what country you live in ?

I am working the hay and currently on the third color but my hat is not curving into a hat shape it's kind of flat with a bit of a ruffle on the end. Is this normal? I'm beginning to think I missed a step or something but I'm following your video closely... will to make the hat shape at the end?

When going from the crown to the first row, instead of doing a chain 3+1 could I do a chain 2+1 so I could work this in half double crochet?

Hi June !! I only did it on round 1 of the brick, you do not need it on the following rounds because you do not need to step up you work on the same level.. that prob made no sense LOL Just take me word for it :)

I'm so lost on the last stitch of the 8th and 9th rows. It seems the last stitch is hidden a bit. Am I right at all?

the last stitch will be right before join for each round, you will then be joining into the chain 3 from the chain 4 of the beginning of the round

I'm sorry but your link to finding out how to do the top part of the beanie is lacking. I can not access it and so this tutorial is not helpful at all. Really disappointed to have to go look for a new pattern as this is the perfect young man's beanie.
