Yes, it is suggested to use 2 strands to make the brim stiffer and not floppy.

Thanks so much for suggesting the beginning row of the brim to increase every other stitch instead of every stitch. I had followed this pattern and ended up with wavy brims every time...Now I just finished one and it is perfect! Thanks for your videos!

Hi there ! I feel your frustration :) When your hat goes wavy it means you have to many stitches, on your first row of your brim, for example, if you did your increases in every2nd stitch, spread it out to every 3rd stich :) and then do you next row as the video shows you and then do every third stich for the next row and so on hope this helps you

Option 2 - On the first row of the brim instead of doing 2 stitches in each stitch, do 2 stitches in every 3rd, for example- Row 1: 1 stitch in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 stitches in the next stitch, 1 stitch in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 stitches in the next stitch. Continue like this across the row. Row 2 : 1 stitch in each stitch across. Row 3: repeat row 1. Row 4: repeat row 2. I hope this helps :)

@roselynann11 Hi, what did you do on the first row of the brim ? DId you do a increase in each stitch ? I have a note there when you do that row that says if it is wavy / curly do a increase in every second or third stitch on the first row and this should stop the wavy/curly effect. Hope this helps and thanks for being honest

@nimagregor24 Hi, Are you using 2 strands of yarn? It need to be thick to stick out. Also using a heaps smaller hook that you should be. So do you mean that it is floppy ? Have you tried the hat on ? I have to tweak the pattern sometimes to make it WORK for each hat. Sorry it took me so long to reply. If you have FaceBook that is a quicker way to get an answer :)

I'm new at this i did do a beanie but now i need to know how to add a brim. I notice your yarn was still attached in the front. When i finished my beanie for it to be even rows i end in the back where i do a slip stitch. Sohow can i add the brim if i cut off the yarn. Basically adding a brim to a beanie that is already done.

I can't get my brim to have the shape and curve that yours has. What I doing wrong ? I've watched your video many many times and can't get the shape that u have. I even went down on the size of the hook! I found it difficult to work with 2 strands of yarn to, mine kept having 4 stitches on the hook and made it difficult to crochet with 4 stitches.

so I've been working with this idea, following it the way you describe, and the brim ends up rippling a lot. what helped in my case was making the first row of the brim crocheted into the next row rather than the row below as well as only increasing every other stitch instead of every stitch in the first row.

@CrochetwithClare

Hello Aysha, if your brim getting curly, you could be adding too many stitches or you could be using the wrong hook size. Depending on how many brim rows you make, you could also be making too many rows for your hat.
