I am the total opposite of you as I love deep rich bright colors, but I will just apply the same logic and try to start more muted! I took a lot of inspiration from your videos and finally starting my own youtube art channel. Just wanted to say thank you for your input 🥰

Oh that's wonderful Mara Sophie! It was very intimidating for me to get started sharing on KZbin. So well done for taking the leap! Best of luck. Let me know how you get on if you try starting out with more muted colours and layer your bright ones on top. You could also start with a bright complimentary colour, so if your painting is going to have a lot of green, start with red.

I’ve always been a fan of neutrals and muted colors, but really love them most when they are paired with the pop of a bold hue.

Same! The bold colours next to muted ones really accentuate each other.

Muted, for sure. I do enjoy pops of bright color too. I'm beginning to explore layering more, thanks to you and your lovely videos. I'm mainly a watercolorist, but branching out into mixed media. I really love the darker canvas. Thanks for sharing!

I also started with watercolour, and moved more towards acrylic and mixed media because of the layering. You could also try acrylic gouache. I like that for working in my sketchbook and layers well.

Oh my, you are brave... these are Really Big! 😳😃 Looks so much more arduous than your smaller panels (I love watching those take shape). All your equipment seems to have shrunk 😅. Big surprise to me was how well that cosmetic brush works! You get lovely effects and amazing coverage from it. Thank you so much for sharing, I love your channel! 🤗

I Jeannine, great demo and teaching. It's clear even for a frenchspeaking like me. I took notes. I never thougt of starting a canvas with colors opposite to want I want. I used to paint with bold colors but wanted to try to put more colored greys and I find it dull. Your method will help me. I have a pratical question though: where do you find the little bottles (like for ketchup in retaurants lol) and are they air thight? And which containers do you use for your mixes and do they have a lid? My palate is always a mess. This would help me. Thank you for these videos! Very helpfull! And love your art!

Hi Claudette! Thanks so much, I'm so glad it's helpful for you! I got the squeeze bottles from Amazon and they seem to be airtight: amzn.to/3TPeZOS The containers I use for storing my paint are plastic boxes (with lid) that we get our takeaways in here in the UK. You could also reuse jars or ice cream tubs etc. Hope this helps!

The canvas on your right where you started, to me that was already muted colors. And the one of the left wasn't terribly bright to me.
