The cat! She waited and waited for a fish but might be too salty for her!🤣

Yeah absolutely and much more convenient than frozen bait.

Nice video mate. I am a bait guy and always out-fish the soft baiters haha. Cool thing is we feed the hungry fish when we fail to hook up too.
@Fishingreminder3 жыл бұрын
Haha, yeah. I do both. I like the sport aspect of lure fishing but I think bait fishing is more effective in general.

great idea........ Do you have a theory on bite times for trout?
@Fishingreminder3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the bite times for trout follow the same natural rythms as bite times for sea fish. So the solunar fishing theory applies to both salt and freshwater fish.

Hi, I have tried this and it works well. What is the rod and reel you are using in this and what length is the rod ?
@Fishingreminder Жыл бұрын
cheers mate, I use different reels and rods. In this video I think I used a Daiwa Big Game 5000 reel. But for pure surfcasting I often use a Shimano Aerlex 10000 long cast reel. As for the rod, it is just a 14ft 3 piece cheapo from the warehouse in this video :)

Excellent video!!! Can the brine be reused???
@Fishingreminder Жыл бұрын
thanks :) I would make a fresh brine for bait. But the used brine can be used for berley/chum

Great video! Do the fish eyes get cloudy or do they stay clear?
@jphawkes2 Жыл бұрын
Also, is the parts baking soda 1:1 with the salt?
@Fishingreminder Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jim, yeah they stay pretty clear. Especially if you have very fresh bait to start with.
@Fishingreminder Жыл бұрын
I only use a little bit of baking soda. Maybe two or three tablespoons.

Yeah absolutely. I did prawns the other day and came out beautifully.

Hi, i tried the procedure with little success: wanted to keep the bait ready for a month: now all is rotten. Is a week or two the max storage time? I live on a boat in the tropics, cannot keep the brined bait in cold storage.
@Fishingreminder Жыл бұрын
It should keep much longer, even in the tropics. Try to increase the salt. Use as much salt as you can possibly dissolve in the amount of water your using.
@multihulls.ch-katamaraneal9216 Жыл бұрын
Ok, will try that. Actually It should have been a saturated salt solution, so additional salt would probably not dissolve.

Brø What a beautiful home, backyard 💎 Surprised there aren’t more videos with this idea. Seems people over salt, no water. But, brine fish seems softer. Can’t wait to try in freshwater. Will let you know. Any tips for freshwater. Maybe see ya in this life or the next, from Cheese (me) That’s what my friends call me 🌵🧀🐠⚓️ From Arizona,US
@Fishingreminder2 жыл бұрын
Hi cheese, yeah brining seems less popular than salting and yet it's very effective and easy to do. We'll do more freshwater fishing over the next couple months. Mainly trout but maybe also a bit carp and perch. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with brining your baits
@rw90852 жыл бұрын
how long stored in cool place will it last
@Fishingreminder2 жыл бұрын
It lasted for a couple of weeks without degrading. If you use more salt it will last a very long time.
@AndrewH-NZ3 жыл бұрын
Do you remove the brine (water) after a few days or just leave it in the brine
@walkintomydream72083 жыл бұрын
The brine water preserves fish, I would keep it until the all the bait finishes. Like Mark said you can even top up more bait while you using it😜
@AndrewH-NZ3 жыл бұрын
@@walkintomydream7208 Cheers just don't want it to spill in the car when transporting :)
@walkintomydream72083 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewH-NZ Oh god no! that will be horroble to splil it all over. make sure to get the bucket with a tight lid. maybe use a bigger bucket to cover it in while you drive or so.
@Fishingreminder3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, the bucket I'm using is pretty tight. But it also fits into a bigger 10 Liter bucket for transport. Sometimes I do that if I'm worried about spills. And then I also have a bonus bucket for fishing 🙂

Now here is a funny Thing Ive been saltning bait since the late seventies and that has always been with normal salt as in iodine salt never had a problem with it and yet today people Are hysteri al about 'non iodonised salt' 🙄
@Fishingreminder Жыл бұрын
yeah I think you are right. using iodised salt probably won't make a huge difference. Apparently fish can pick up the iodine taste and spit out the bait. But I think it might be a myth only
